Totally agree Conor re Mes. I think replacing him in January would be a giant positive step. Very rare does our defence get breached but when it does Mes is a car crash. Also it will instill confidence in defence having confidence in passing back
Absolutely agree with Gabes analysis, i keep saying, first pass to Gnonto with space to attack his full back and put Preston on the back foot and he doesn't. He passes back and we mess about on the half way line for 5 minutes and give up all chance of early momentum.
Look again Preston goal...Mesliers hands are 45 degree angle ...he didn't meet the ball with his hands flat...ball bounces underneath his hands...TERRIBLE...cost us 10pts already this season
Going 4-3-3 with Ampadu/ Tanaka/ Rothwell also allows us to drop into 3-5-2 if needs be by dropping ampadu into the back line and pushing gnonto into an inverted striker roll. Then that goal at Preston away doesn’t happen as Ampadu would be there covering Strujik!

My worry is that both Burnley and Sheff Utd have now begun to win ugly away from home, even when they haven't been particularly brilliant... we haven't. The Swansea away result in all fairness was made possible because Swansea were quite open and 'had a go'. Most teams like Millwall and Preston are not open against us and look for a chance to nick a goal and shut up shop. When that happens, we never look confident enough to break them down. Something needs to change away from home as Gabe has eloquently pointed out.

It would be interesting to see if DF sees 90 points winning promotion this season because that seems to be DF target. 90 wasn't good enough last season and its a big gamble to assume it will be enough this season. 1.4 points average away from home this season is down on last seasons 1.5 and there is no doubt tactically/effort/ determination all suffer when we are away from ER. Is that DF or the players or a bit of both?
