On the rare times when the Phillies make a deep run in the playoffs and the Eagles are playing at the same time, the whole city turns into a month long party. Everyone is nicer, wearing team colors and will randomly break out into singing and dancing. It’s funny how during the year baseball can be such a lazy game to watch. Just chillin with a beer and a snack watchin the day go by because there are so many lapses between pitches and action. You enjoy it, but it’s relaxing.
And yet for that very same reason, when your team is in the playoffs, those moments lead to such anticipation that you’re sitting on the edge of your seat and everything around you is electric. The intensity is real.
Hockey is my sport. I can’t get enough football, and the 76ers have me hyped. But there is something about postseason baseball that makes the hair stick up on the back of your neck. Especially if you’re at the game or even a bar where others are feeling the same way.
It’s that anticipation followed by huge eruptions just like this clip.

They didn’t win the WS, but god damn they were one of the best postseason teams to ever be in the playoffs. They had the offense, the pitching was solid, the defense was a bit iffy but when they were on, THEY WERE ON and no team (besides Houston) could touch them. Plus, Philly… the MOST DIFFICULT CITY to play a playoff game in.
