Went on this shopping cart ship back in 2017 as the golden princess I must say it wasn't terrible, the boat itself Is quite well laid out in general the viewing area at the back is great for any sailaway party and a great place to watch the ocean it looks very similar still hopefully the food is better now with p and o.
We cruised on this lovely ship in October. We had also been on it when she was with Princes, love the indoor pool area. Unfortunately our cruise was not enjoyable. Boarding and disembarking was a nightmare, were weren't at Circular Quay, but some industrial area with a very big warehouse. EXTREMELY disorganised, food was not really good, it was often lukewarm. It really spoiled your day when it looks good but often tasteless and cool. The menus at then included restaurants, changes only every 3rd day, but often warm. The talk of the cruise was the poor food management. Great coffee though. The lifts were horrible. Supper slow opening and closing, often one of them was under repair. The entertainment was generally good in the main theatre. Unfortunately there were cases of gastro, and we ended up with Covid. I doubt we will ever go with P&O. Got off so sick and not happy. Hopefully the change of company improves the issues.
Very useful video for us as were deciding to cruise 2023 on this ship, we usually go on Royal Carribean but this ship looks absaloutely beautiful, very impressed thankyou.
Thanks Kym, glad you enjoyed the video. The ship is definitely beautiful, but there are some issues that seem to be ongoing. Not trying to talk you out of it at all, just making sure you have the full picture. This ship looks stunning - I'll actually be on one of the older P&O UK ships this weekend - I'm very intrigued to see if it's in as good a shape as this one!

I'm looking forward to going on the Pacific Adventure Cruise in January 2024 I'm so excited I can't wait I got it for my 21st birthday and I'm so excited to come and have a great time
Gawd, I miss this ship. Went on back in 2017 when it was the Golden Princess and it was more than what I expected. It's amazing how they were able to fit a bit of everything onto this ship and have now added a waterslide on top. Having been on the newer Majestic Princess and Ovation of the Seas myself, there's something about these older ships that the newer ones cannot replicate. There's a palpable sense of history when you walk the the halls and that Altidude area at the back of the ships (previously called SKywalkers lounge) and the wake pool were my favorites.
How good was Sky Walkers! I love that space too. I cruised on Golden a handful of times and always loved her layout and facilities. Glad to see her continue with P&O with a refreshed onboard design.
Just booked a cruise on this ship for May 2026. I wonder what, if anything, will change after March 2025? Will they take on Carnivals traits or will they keep it a separate entity??
Hi Sharon. We don’t quite know yet. I’ve made a few more recent videos about this topic. Carnival/P&O have said nothing much will change except for the app (transitioning to Carnival Hub) but then a more recent post on social media by Carnival indicated they have some changes in the works. We’ll know more next year I suspect.
wow awesome tour :) thannks adrian :) its currently 4am on sat morning and im awake for our flight to sydney today and our cruise on monday on this beautiful ship :) i think i will get totally lost hehe she seems so much bigger than the explorer, and so much more confusing to get around. oh well me and my little family can get lost together on the high seas hehe only 2 days to go, and an amazing 2 days in sydney first :) hope you have nice weather waiting for us hehe :)

As always great video Adrian, I often wonder if P&O cruises Australia will ever get a brand new ship and if Sydney can get a third cruise terminal in the not so distant future. I would settle for now a confirmed plan on a location and build date for the 3rd cruise terminal.
Thank you! I just don't know about a new ship for P&O - it was on the cards a few years ago and then those plans fell apart. I hope they do, they definitely deserve a custom built ship. I think Yarra Bay is the location that is currently being debated for another Sydney terminal, but there will be a light of work to do to convince the locals that it would be a good idea.
Gday Adrian, my wife and I are booked for a South Pacific cruise from Sydney on this ship next year. We've only booked an inner room. The floor/deck levels go up? Not down? Doesn't really bother us, we're Deck 5.
@@TheCruiseandTravelGuy Gday Adrian, sorry, I'll try and re word it. I was under the impression the first floor was the top floor. But it's the bottom floor?
Just got off of this ship on Saturday 29/10/22. The changes on board a very little to when it was the Golden Princess. The atrium is very small, the Byron beach club pools were cold, all the clocks on the ship were all on the wrong time, and we never saw anyone in the pool at the back of the ship. The ship has alot of signs of ageing and wear. A lot of the tray tables on the seats in the Marquee theatre were broken, several light fittings around the ship were broken or hanging from the ceiling and the lifts are very slow.
We've never done a cruise My wife and son have travelled extensively however never done the cruise ship experience This looks really good Is it really as good as it looks We are thinking of doing a 16 day cruise from Singapore to Melbourne later this year
Thanks for watching the tour. Cruising is a great way to travel. For a first cruise, a 16 day voyage might be a little long? Something to consider. I also don't think there are many stops on that particular cruise. Something like a cruise to the South Pacific islands might be a fun way to get started for a week or so.
@TheCruiseandTravelGuy Cheers We've finally decided on a flight to Auckland and a 6 day cruise back to Melbourne If that goes well we will book a longer one 👍😊
Are they still having issues with people taking their towels and leaving them on deck chairs to reserve them for themselves when they arent actually using them?
I didn't see that happening on my cruise, but it wasn't sailing at capacity and the weather was a bit off! I suspect that may happen on longer, warmer cruises.
I have some suite tours and an obstructed oceanview balcony cabin tour on my channel. I didn’t see a balcony cabin, but you should be able to find some tours on RUclips or google. A midship balcony will be internally identical to any other balcony cabin.
Lovely looking ship. Not too garish...take notes Carnival Splendor:) If you have a drinks package that does include speciality coffee and tea, does that include coffee and tea purchased at the Avalon Cafe and NZ Ice Cream, as well as the shakes at NZ Ice Cream, or just those in MDR?
haha yes, it's definitely a very tasteful and modern interior aesthetic. Depending on the package, yes it will. Just check on the P&O website under their drinks package section to confirm exactly what's included in the various package levels to be sure.

Just off the Pacific Adventure 2022 Christmas cruise. What a disappointment. A decaying and tired ship, with many items like lifts, automatic opening doors and spas not working the whole cruise. None of the speciality restaurants were open the entire cruise. The starboard side endured a sewerage smell the entire cruise. Staff at reception were not au fait with either the ships or P&Os policies and procedures. The standard of food at the Pantry was akin to a bad roadside café. Restaurant service became slower and slower over the cruise, with dinner taking >2 hours. The P&O app, together with the VeriFLY app either didn't work or wasn't used. And numerous cabins had to be vacated due to burst pipes. And wheelchair accessibility was poor on so many levels, not the least safety and security (the life jackets were unreachable from a sitting position). There is a fine line between a RUclips review and a RUclips promotion. The last time I went on a cruise was 50 years ago (SS Arcadia). I thought I was on the same ship. The décor hadn't changed but the rust had. I'm unlikely to travel P&O again.
