      @@LivinliteNet1 Thanks for the video, you're the first video I've found that discusses ethernet use. I have sensitivities to WIFI so I would prefer an ethernet set up, I'm considering the Sky Pro Pack you mentioned. If you were using the Sky Pro Pack, what else would you use along with it for your set up? Connectivity is important to me, but so is protection from too much WIFI. I'd like to use ROKU for streaming on my TV, I wonder if there's a way I can use ethernet for streaming on the TV so I don't have to worry about the extra WIFI radiation? And may I ask, how and when does the home phone come in handy? That's pretty cool.
      I'm not skilled in tech (clearly) haha, I'd appreciate any feedback you may have, thanks again and beautiful set up!

    @Livinlite.net I have watched your video numerous times. As an extra class amateur radio operator and most importantly as a network administrator I know the components and how they integrate Wi-Fi and cellular technology with a router.
    One thing I noticed is that your router only has two ports on it which limits it. I know you said that if you had the opportunity to do things over again you would but basically since it ain't broke, don't fix it. I completely agree with that sentiment. Don't worry about the wiring either. I know when I installed my home office it looked beautiful. Four Vonage adapters, split telephone lines so that I could have fax and everything, and topped off with a Wi-Fi modem that was also a router connected to my cable modem. I have static IPs but it works for DHCP as well. That way I have the freedom of Wi-Fi anywhere in my two story home. But I also wired in a 24 Port hub so that I could hardwire PCS in the home office and assign them all manual internal IPs. Netgear and others make a 5-port router that you can use to plug into one of your ports and especially if your setup is DHCP which in a mobile configuration I'm almost certain you would be, you add 4 additional ports. One has to be used for the piggy back.
    I noticed the antenna that you're using and I understand that you're happy with it but the antenna is the heart of the system! I've literally talked around the world with a high-gain directional antenna using only one watt of power. That would be equivalent to being 10 miles away from the closest cell site and making a phone call. I'm familiar of course with the Weboost and it didn't work well at the time. That was more than 10 years ago. I even have a Wilson in-home device that never really worked well. Which brings me to my question.
    In your picture you show a panel antenna and they are directional. I imagine that provides good performance in your main living area and it's deliberately pointed towards the front of your RV because otherwise your weboost would effectively cancel itself out. But does it have enough back splatter to give you Wi-Fi in the master suite?
    My plans are as the owner of a web hosting company to go on the road full time. My job is in the sales and marketing area as well as overall Network Administration. I need solid internet access and I've been to your website can you have some rather unique products that may prove very useful to me. Your dual modem 300mbs / modem component looks like exactly what I need. The higher throughput you have to start off with the better you have even when you get into a remote area where the signal level drops.
    But I am curious why you are using a relatively low quality vertical antenna mounted to the ladder instead of for example a Winegard® Connect™ 2.0 WiFi diversity antenna? Or even better, if you happen to be at an RV Resort you can use a directional yagi or LDPA antenna that when used with a signal strength meter you can point it directly at the cell site or the hotspot for the absolute strongest signal possible. You wouldn't use the Weboost in this case. The difference is of course would be that you'd have to mount it when you reach your destination. If you're boondocking it I'd really highly recommend a yagi antenna. You've seen them before. They look like a 》 with multiple elements or covered in a fiberglass radome. They're low profile. The Wilson I mentioned is actually a radome that mounts to the top of your RV. Whether fiberglass or even if it requires a 16 x 16 in ground plate. Your choice. It has the booster built in and as I recall actually connects with CAT5 or CAT6 which means you has no line loss with coaxial cable just a thought for you. It works by phasing two antennas together to achieve the best signal possible. We use them in a radio direction- finding in the Civil Air Patrol.
    My purpose in writing is not to tell you how to do what you have spent a great deal of time doing and it started a business doing it. you clearly know the subject matter and I'm sure you know the devices I'm recommending. Congratulations on that! That has got to be exciting. Especially since you're using your own knowledge of what works and what doesn't. My purpose in writing is really to ask your opinions on what I've suggested and the pros and cons if you can think of any.
    As I mentioned, as an extra class amateur radio operator that has done a lot of work over 40 years putting in repeaters sites which are like cell sites but much greater distances, as well as home systems and vehicular systems, I know that the antenna is the absolute most important component in the system.
    One last thing. Now that T-Mobile has bought out Sprint they are going to emerge as a contender to Verizon & AT&T. A serious contender. Are your products ready or going to be ready for the option of adding a third SIM card?
    The bottom line for me is that like you, I want to work from a Class A going anywhere I want. I'm not married anymore which is the only downside. I guess it would be kind of hard to find a steady date living on the road. I've just reached that age where I've been cooped up far too long with a daughter fighting cancer, living out of hospitals and just going home long enough to do laundry and sleep in a real bed for a night, that I just want to get the hell out of town. But of course I'll need my business to continue paying the bills.
    Thank you for an informative video. I'm not trying to talk like I know more than you do. I deal mostly with wires and you deal with the wireless. I would be very interested in seeing a diagram of a properly wired system using the components you sell. Fair is fair.

    Like you guys, I'll be RV-ing full time after I retire and continuous internet connectivity is a must for me. I like to steam media content and video chat with friends and relatives, which requires a solid connection with plenty of throughput. There are a lot more solutions available than I was aware of, but it seems to just come down to your personal budget.

    This is definitely the most difficult item to overcome if you want to go full time. You just don't know what type of setup will work for any given location until you get there. Even campground wifi can be so erratic. One place I have been can be fantastic high speed internet one day and slow as molasses the next day for no apparent reason.
    I would love to go full time in a year or two, would need a different rig but would also need to figure out connectivity as I would still be working remotely.

    Nice.
    I'm considering that booster for my camper, as I regularly park it in a place with basically no usable reception. Currently can't spend as much time as I'd like on the road and/or out at that property because of signal issues. Here's hoping it'll fix the issue.

    • @LivinliteNet1
      @LivinliteNet1  6 лет назад

      Glad to help, you might need to find yourself an antenna mast or something to get your antenna up high if the signal is really bad or you can get a unit with a directional "yagi" antenna which will require pointing but will focus the booster in a particular direction towards the tower. Boosting cell signals can be touch and go but if you find you have decent signal in the area closer to the tower (basically make sure its not a tower issue) then a booster could definitely be the way to go. Feel free to let us know on facebook how you make out. We may start selling boosters in the near future for subscribers!

    We are renting a RV for the first time for a long weekend trip to "test" RV life as we want to rent a unit for a month to travel back east and visit the kids and grandkids. My question surrounds the WeBoost Drive X RV. I am retired (the driver) and my wife works remotely so she would need/greatly benerfit connecting to cellular network while we are driving. Since there is not excellent coverage all over the US, we wondered about investing in a WeBoost Drive X RV to see if this would allow her to work (at least some hours a day) while we are actually driving.

Yes we just use two MIFIS - now we have one Verizon and one AT&T (both with unlimited data) and 2 iPhones on T-Mobile. Thank you for the video. You truly understand the importance of staying connected while working.
    Hubs can go remote, but his job depends of internet reliability. He works for a company, and not self employed. He's a valued employee and loves what he does and the last thing he wants is to lose his job or stress out his boss!
    We were even thinking of just sticking to parks that allow a local provider to wire us in if we stay at an RV park several months at a time, but they are not easy to find it seems. Hubby is doing all the research on cell, hotspots unlimited plans etc. and we're willing to pay for the services to keep us connected. He also works conventional hours and on the phones, web x, internet pretty much all day.
    Sorry this is turning out so long... I'm curious, what your work schedule is like. Conventional hours? A flexible schedule? Do you stay put at a campsite for a while or constantly on the move?
    My hubby is M-F so we'll be exploring on the weekends.
    Thank you again!

    Don't like the using one LET link at a time
    Why pepwave with larger antennas? Isn't enough the amplifies signal? any interference?
    In my new coming RV will try 2 smallest LET modems controlled but a single and powerful router that can not only load balance the traffic between the 2 LTE and a wifi, but as important to policy traffic according to current traffic conditions per link and my personal needs. If I neet to shutdown watching a video to prioritize my job, will do

    Two things right off. First why not put the TV on a swing mount so you can get behind the TV to make any changes or reboot the system etc. Having to take the TV down to get to it ? The other thing is realize the Tv is going to act like a shield so it will hurt in its ability to receive or transmit. Just saying.

    I work in financial services and mobile connectivity is super critical to me, as it is for you! I am a first-time RVer AND going. To be full-timing with my wife and kids. Lots of challenges ahead!
    My plan was to use a WeBoost Connect 4G (I believe the residential unit broadcasts a much stronger signal than the RV model), WiFi Ranger Elite AC Pack FM, Pepwave Max BR1. It looks very similar to your setup. Based on your post, I’m looking into the unlimited unthrottled data, as that would be a big budget win for me.
    Do you see anything that I might be missing? I’m less concerned with saving money and more concerned about the most reliable and fastest connection that I can realistically get in my coach. Thanks for your video and input, much appreciated!!

    • @LivinliteNet1
      @LivinliteNet1  6 лет назад

      +Brian Kimball hey Brian, you honestly could go with either the Pepewave or the wifi ranger as they both support wifi and cellular, having both is a little redudant and we did it largely because we were given some items either from work or by the manufacturer. Since you'll probably use cellular 99% of the time getting a pepewave with both att and Verizon unlimited would be likely the best bet if cost isn't an issue. Message us on Facebook when you are ready as we are launching a store with weboost and pepewave and wifi ranger products at a discount for our followers. We can get you equipment while our store is being built if you need anything. As for the weboost the residential unit is 60db but the price is 50db so they aren't that different. The drive will be more adaptable when in motion and the residential unit require the two antennas be about 50ft apart which is hard to do in any RV so be careful with that last one. I think the weboost drive would be perfect for and you could upgrade the internal antenna for a little more boost if you weren't happy. Let us know how you make out and if you want to purchase anything directly before our store is up!

    • @brianjkimball
      @brianjkimball 6 лет назад

      LivinLite.net yes I would love to buy through you! I already bought the WeBoost and ended up going with the Wilson Electronics model top of the line with the trucker edition that has the much larger interior antenna. I was planning to get the cradlepoint router as a friend has connections for that...are you familiar with the Cradlepoint AER1600? It appears comparable to the PepWave. I’d love to order my WiFi Ranger from you...I am looking at the Elite AC Pack FM. Can I get that through you with your discount? I’m ready to order within about a week (picking up our new coach the day after tomorrow). Thanks for your help. I’ve loved your content and I’m very much like you....gotta have the quality and reliable stuff so I can work effectively from anywhere!

    even considering this is run on ac you could just run a 12v power socket to that location and have the option of plugging in one of those cigarette lighter power inverters. I bet this only draws 5 or 10 watts. Or considering it's all on power adapters just find the proper cable and power converter. I bet the Verizon runs on 5v the WiFi router 12v and the booster 24v or 18v. It all already runs on dc probably just not the right voltage.

    Boosters only increase the signal strength from the provider to the devices. They don't increase the incoming/outgoing speeds.

    • @LivinliteNet1
      @LivinliteNet1  7 лет назад

      we haven't found this to be the case. Next time you have a low 4G cell signal do a speed test (speedtest.net) then try it in a high signal area. While you are correct a signal booster will not correct bandwidth issues when you are in an over subscribed area/tower a booster will significantly boost your bandwidth/upload/download speeds if you are in an area with low cell signal strength in most cases. message us on Facebook if you want to discuss but at the most basic level it has a lot to do with packet loss (oversimplified answer). Typically we see a 1.5mb connection (download) go to a 6mb connection (download) in areas where signal strength is an issue. Let us know if you don't agree or are seeing something different. Looking forward to continuing the convo.

    Any idea how much the average data usage would be VPN'ing into an employer's network? I'm worried that just accessing network drives, mainframe systems, etc., will eat the month data up and I would be throttled back.

    Fantastic video! Have watched it 3 times, lol. Thank you for this great information. We are getting ready to go full time June 1st! So excited! I am a day trader and need good secure internet. Going to go with the pepwave Max Mini. Looks to be the same as the MAX you use just fewer LAN ports? Or would you recommend staying with the regular MAX? Also been working with your contact for unlimited data plan. They have been fantastic to work with so far. Can't thank you enough for all this great info. I felt lost on how to best stay connected before I saw your video.

      Hey Aaron, thats great news and i'm so glad we could help you out! Depending on your timing let us know as we are likely going to be selling a number of products including Pepewave direct to subscribers at a discount if all goes well. The mini is a great option some things to consider: I think the WIFI as WAN is disabled by default and you need to pay for a license to enable it. This is also true for the WAN port which will allow you to hook up "wired internet" or use a roof antenna such as Wifi Ranger or Ubiquiti wifi antenna in conjunction with the mini. Still for 99% of connectivity uses the mini will be perfect and worst case you can buy the licensing upgrade if you find you want to add it down the road.

Not sure if you covered this elsewhere but really would like to know how much the monthly subscription services cost. I presume that's the case. How much does the unlimited service cost? I noticed a directv? dish on the roof - is that why you got an att sim as well to do some sort of doubleplay and get redundancy coverage?

    I work at home as a transcriptionist for a large hospital system in the Myrtle Beach area. I used their hard drive and connect to the hospital system using a VPN. I'm trying to find a way to work in our fifth wheel when we are away by using my mobile hot spot - do you thing that is possible, or would I need this PEPlink? I have AT&T. How much a month do you have to pay for a data plan for the PEPlink? Of course due to HIPAA regulations, all would have to be secured. Thanks for your help.

    • @LivinliteNet1
      @LivinliteNet1  7 лет назад

      +Patti Wolfe most businesses will have support for software VPN, so you should be able to have thier it folks install the VPN software on your remote computer then as long as you have internet access (via any of the solutions) you should be good to go! If you have any questions let us know!

      +Patti Wolfe ah and any secure vpn approved by the hospital should be HIPAA compliant and secure. To be safe stick to cellular and avoid public WiFi. Either way wifi should be secure but cellular would be inherently more secure.

      +Marylou Fulton most of the video was filmed with a Sony a6300 with various lenses. The intro was filmed with a 35mm lens at 1.8f which gives it that blurred background effect. Some interior scenes we're fine with a 16mm pancake lens which gives really wide angle for when we are in the coach. We put links in the description of our setup but let us know if you have any questions!

    So I dont know if someone asked already or not, if they did, point me in that direction. It seems that you are really tech saavy so I will ask a question that has been plaguing me about all of these systems. Is there any reason to not go with a Ubiquiti Rocket M2 outside your rig into something like an Edge Router and then an air gateway for your internal network? I know the WiFi Ranger seems a more all in one "Pretty Package" but I feel more comfortable with enterprise type gear. or am I making it too complicated? What are your thoughts on keeping it simple vs something a little more robust? I appreciate your videos! From a tech guy... you've given me some great ideas!
    I would also love to know what your thoughts are on creating an internal network on your rig using a plex server vs. a standard DLNA through something like apple TV or something.
    Appreciate your work!!! Thanks!

Or do you have to switch networks off your 'local' router to take advantage of the rangers wifi connection? Thanks!

    Thanks for the informative video. Could you please expand upon why you went with the Weboost and small internal antennas vs a roof-mounted dual port antenna? From what I understand you'll lose MIMO capability through a Weboost. Do you turn that unit off when you have good signal to take advantage of higher speeds? Or do you figure that you usually are in areas with poor signal and therefore would rather have the repeater for a stronger single-channel signal?

    • @LivinliteNet1
      @LivinliteNet1  7 лет назад +3

      +Michael Tull hey Michael, excellent question. In situations were we want to try and take advantage of mimo on 4g, we switch off the booster, part of the reason we installed that easy access switch but the wast majority of the time a stronger single 4g signal from the booster seems to be faster than taking advantage of mimo. We didn't go with the roof antenna because in testing we found the booster did a better job than an antenna with mimo. I also wasn't super excited about running more wires into that slide which we've done (but it isn't easy). I think either would work and if your more often in good signal areas the mimo antenna might be better. We also like that we have an option yagi antenna on the booster. That is used when we are in seriously low signal areas and it gets us a signal through almost anything (except mountains).

    • @LivinliteNet1
      @LivinliteNet1  6 лет назад +2

      +Jeffery Myers hey Jeff, the pepewave unit we show in the video is quite easy to install and will do most of what you need. You can plug into 120v or wire in via 12 volt. Then all you need is a cellular data plan which you can rent from our cell partner (truly unlimited) or you can use your exisiting cellular carrier. I would start with that and then if you find you need a cell booster down the road you can upgrade. Message us at info@livinlite.net for discounts on Pepelink/Pepewave products now that we are a dealer and we can also answer any questions you have from there. Thanks!

    So with your Verizon home box that runs to your telephone and sounds like a landline ring tone does that also act as an essential landline? In other words when i am working on the road and I'm working for a company that requires me to have a landline instead of my cell phone, is that the substitute that I would need? I currently use a Voice bridge app on my iPhone that goes through my daughter's cable company box and then I can receive calls anywhere like it would be coming from my land line. Is the Verizon home box a better way to go??

    • @LivinliteNet1
      @LivinliteNet1  7 лет назад

      thats a good question. Without knowing the specific requirements of your job (why they want you have a land line) we wouldn't be able to answer if this would work but its extremely reliable and works just like a land line. The Verizon home phone is much more reliable than a bridge app solution which would rely on cellular data). The Verizon home phone model we use uses the older CDMA network and doesn't rely on cellular data making it quite reliable. I believe the Verizon hone phone also supports 911 location services.

      Thanks for the Information. The Interior Designed Antenna that came with my We Boost is much smaller. You actually have to put the Mifi Device on top of the Antenna inside to get any type of boost. It just does not seem to do the job. Seems that I need something bigger to broadcast the signal throughout my Coach. It broadcast fine in the front of the RV, but does not reach the back of the Camper as I would like.

    • @LivinliteNet1
      @LivinliteNet1  7 лет назад

      I dont think it would work through your 5th wheel unfortunately but you could go with a cradle based booster which could be easily moved to and from the truck to the trailer. It wouldnt be as powerful but will definitely improve things while keeping things portable. The other option is to install a full booster system in trailer and cradle in the truck and turn off whichever you arent using but thats going to be some bucks..
