How far off full drag are you running your 1500hg at? Have the same reel and on the reef up here on the gbr I'm running usually 80% but still getting smoked at times. Do you run it higher and use your thumb usually? Any downsides on drag wear? Be cool to see a video on how you upgrade the drag washers with your technique.
Would you know a good overhead rod for a 15 yr old definitely looking at the samaki rod that you use but not sure what reel because the one you got is pretty expensive?

I’ve always like the Samaki ribcage jigs. They seem to be harder to get than they used to be a few years ago. Well in Townsville anyway.

It’s been upgraded and I run it as tight as it goes 😅
