@Zalis116 Getting rid of the EC isn't really feasible at the moment because that would require passing a bill in DC, and they can't even pass a bill for government funding half the time. There are ways around that, however. The first is the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC) OR to have all states adopt the same splitting system as NE and ME. The only one currently viable is the NPVIC, as abolishing the EC or having ALL states decide to honorably split theirs is unlikely.

I lived in Nebraska for 18 years. I never voted once because I felt my vote as a democrat would have been snuffed out since I lived in rural Nebraska. However, if I lived in the Lincoln/Omaha area I would have absolutely voted because my voice would have made a difference. I'd rather get rid of the EC entirely, since even with the NE/ME system, there's too much room for unfair outcomes due to gerrymandering and the clustering of liberal voters in a smaller number of deep-blue urban districts. Let's say that Florida used that system in 2008, when Obama won by a 51%-48% margin. You'd expect the 27 EC votes to be split something like 14-13, but based on the congressional district level results, McCain would've taken 17 EC votes (from winning 17 districts) to Obama's 12 (10 districts + 2 for statewide).
@Zalis116 Getting rid of the EC isn't really feasible at the moment because that would require passing a bill in DC, and they can't even pass a bill for government funding half the time. There are ways around that, however. The first is the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC) OR to have all states adopt the same splitting system as NE and ME. The only one currently viable is the NPVIC, as abolishing the EC or having ALL states decide to honorably split theirs is unlikely.

I lived in Nebraska for 18 years. I never voted once because I felt my vote as a democrat would have been snuffed out since I lived in rural Nebraska. However, if I lived in the Lincoln/Omaha area I would have absolutely voted because my voice would have made a difference.

The EC and FPTP are two quite different things. The US presidential elecitons use both, and both are terrible ideas, but it is possible to have either one without the other.
