      electric cars hypocrisy, they are essentially coal powered, use extremely rare minerals (e.g. non-renewables) mined by child slave labor in Africa, and at the end of the cycle you have highly toxic batteries, that are currently not being recycled. So in what world do electric cars save our environment?
      But, it could change if:
      - we use nuclear energy generation for majority of our energy
      - we use some solid state or metal oxide hydrate batteries or hydrogen fuel cells
      - have robust recycling program
      - have transparent certification for how battery materials are being sourced

    If Tesla wants to get back into growth, they need to release the model 2(small economy model) and an 8+ passenger van. They need to provide models for different demographics of owners. I love tesla but they dont sell a vehicle that works for my family.

    • @Thebackson
      @Thebackson Месяц назад +4

      @@insight-informer You are talking about taking long road trips with kids. 1. charging doesn't take that long. You can drive, park at the burger king or whatever restaurant with the charger, plug in, kids need to use the bathroom, get some food stretch their legs for 30 minutes and then get back on the road. It does not appear you have travelled with kids before. 2. that excludes the much much more common daily use from a "soccer mom" Daily driving kids to school. Costco, trips to the zoo or the museum or all the local stuff around town. Now you can come home, plug your van in and in the morning have a full "tank" to drive the kids around town in a vehicle that almost never needs maintenance. Which also happens to be one of the safest cars ever made.

    Kevin I have a theory about EV in Republican states. Think about it we don’t have big city’s with everything. We don’t have the infrastructure for chargers. We are to spread out. For instance the closest IKEA for me is 4 hours away. With a lot of nothing between. A EV would work for just day driving and charging at home. But most of us need to do so much more with our cars.

If Tesla promoted FSD and their passive safety features like how Apple promote their watches Tesla products will fly off the shelves. Reasons to not get caught up in the day to day drama: Cybertruck ramping is happening. Now hundreds of CT’s can be spotted at the factory waiting for delivery. Model 3 Highland is awesome. Model Y best selling car in the world! It will also see a refresh soon. New versions of FSD are amazing. They really made some break-throughs with the new training. Energy storage is growing rapidly, record quarterly deployment was reported today with delivery numbers. Tesla’s lithium refinery is currently under construction and will support one million EV’s by 2025. Tesla’s insurance business grew over 100% last year. The next generation vehicle assembly line is being built now. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see them later this year. Battery production will continue to ramp and Semi trucks will start to be produced in large numbers in 6-12 months. Tesla also has strong partnerships with Panasonic and CATL. They have the best charger network that has become the standard and will produce billions in profit in the coming years. And if all that isn’t enough, Optimus has a chance at eclipsing everything. And they have a genius running the show.

    Teslas are great vehicles, but not perfect for everyone. We just bought a new Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV SEL (traded in spouse's 2017 Honda CRV, keeping my 2017 Nissan ICE as second vehicle) because the range is around 60-70kms and most days she works she travels around 80kms overall. Being able to plug it in literally anywhere there's a 110v plug is epic even though it takes around 15 hours to process a full empty to full charge, with the capacity to use level 2 and 3 chargers elsewhere, while traveling really helps. The caviat, it's a real SUV with the space we need. If there were full SUVTeslas, we may have went that way, but there aren't yet. Model Y is more like a hatchback, not suitable for commercial painter who carries ladders inside and out of the vehicle. If they end up coming out with something in the near future, I may trade in my Nissan for one. Otherwise, they are clearly missing out on a type of SUV consumer. Regardless of that, I am holding.

    If Elon produced lesser cars and stopped reducing the price when demand was less and use that excessive battery capacity to introduce newer model with longer range in 500-600 miles and higher price. The demand would have sky rocketed. As it would pushed sidelines people to jump in along with current Tesla owners to refresh their model. I still see people hate electric cars due to battery range as they don't find it practical. I just drove mdx over model y for longer trip as tesla comes out equal or more expensive and have increases the travel time significantly. I wanted to take Model Y but it was not fitting the bill for 2400 miles road trip. On 79, 85 i could count Tesla on finger tips. That tells the story.

    Not to say, there isn't some truth to what Kevin saying about blaming stuff for the delivery numbers, but you can't always just call something blaming sometimes they are actual reasons for stuff to happen. There is likely a lot of truth what Elon is saying about why the deliveries weren't as good as they should've been.

      Rates are beginning to drop I the EU from next month. Sales will increase in the EU. In many countries EVs and ICE are dropping but Tesla sales have increased this year. And with that teslas market share is growing.

    I think your math is wrong man. You made a price adjustment in the wrong direction. If 20K miles = $5K then the 31,800 car would be 36,800 and the difference in price for FSD would be 36,800 - 30,500 = about 6K (still half the value of new FSD though to your point)

    Not everyone wanted or will ever want an electric vehicle. At least not for a LONG time. Just too many downsides for those of us that drive/work for a living and have schedules to keep. The northerner's are learning a hard lesson too. If anything I see the dual fuel cars taking over electrics. Worst thing for Tesla is the ones with the money to buy what ever they want are the ones that aren't interested (for the most part).

    60-100,000$ cars financed at high rates seem like a tough sell. Yeah many can pay, in cash, but what's the economy's outlook for the next 20yrs with high inflation? My goal is to buy a nice car for 120k, but if i can get high returns on money, high returns from tech stocks, I'm buying a real nice car for 40k and investing the rest to grow it into half a mil
