I saw this production in June 2015; it’s nice to find this lovely little souvenir, full of all the warmth, charm and intelligence of Lisette’s portrayal of Susanna, to say nothing of the beauty of tone and melting phrasing she brought to the vocal line. Both she and Philippe Sly (Figaro) were excellent in this production.

I think it's important to consider and witness the growth of artists especially nowadays. We all have our own opinions of course, and I would agree to a certain extent that her "vowels" in this recording are somewhat not pure e or i or a, but consider the parts where she does them - the higher notes and whenever there are leaps. Maybe this is her still negotiating her vowels to stay connected on her breath and to prevent her larynx to get too high. I consider this because I am also studying voice and most of the time when you're just starting, you have to consider all these vowel modifications, being present and connected with the breath, etc.
ANYWAY going back to my point about considering an artist's growth, just look at her now. Listen to her now. She's grown into one of the best opera singers of today and that's because of the WORK she has put when she was still young. I adore Lisette and I feel lucky we have her, an amazing and generous artist who storms our opera stages today and also helps young artists find their voice by giving out virtual masterclasses during her free time. Such an inspiration.

@@chipichipichapachapa733 lol I guess beauty is subjective. I find her middle voice rich and silky for a lighter voice and her high notes effortless, silvery, and youthful sounding. To me, it's ideal for susanna

@@mugrad25 Ok yes beauty is definitely in the ears of the listener.. I think her voice is anything but youthful, even though I agree her technique is ok (not the best I've heard though for coloratura sopranos). I think ideal for Susanna would be someone like Kathleen Battle, Reri Grist, Barbara Bonney...

@@chipichipichapachapa733 I see what you mean...the singers you listed have a floating quality, sweetness and warmth to sound which is somewhat missing in her voice. I still like that she's fearless and technically perfect. If beverly sills had a successor it would be Lisette

When singing vowels are changed a lot to maintain a healthier sound if you didn’t know.
