I discovered Lisette during 2020 and I was amazed. She is amazing, and want to say that there are some Callas nuances there, which is not comparing dead people to her or anything of the kind. She does not need to impersonate Callas, as great as she was, because she herself is. I am just saying that there are pianissimi, attack of high notes and certain darkness in tones " a la Callas" which I find lovely. BRAVA Lisette!!! Love you.

Beautifully sung. I’m puzzled by references to Callas as her voice sounds nothing like that soprano. Maybe in the intensity of her musicianship there’s a comparison. She’s more of a lyric coloratura than a dramatic and yet her Gilda in London last year rang out splendidly and real trills too. Wonderful.

I am a great fan of this beautiful and kind lady. She granted me an interview several years ago for my opera blog Taminophile. (She also posted an Instagram pic last year wearing a crochet garment I had made for her!) I saw her first Violetta in Philadelphia--I was surprised, having only seen her at the Met in roles like Werther's Sophie, but boy howdy! did she give an amazing Violetta! During her years in the Met's LIndermann program, she coached extensively in roles like Violetta and Lucia with masters like Renata Scotto while performing roles like Sophie and Nanetta. I am excited to see where Lisette's career takes her.
I am going to start believing in reincarnation. Close your eyes and listen. I think I have heard that interpretation before, even that voice. God bless her all the time. Such an incredible artist this woman is and a superior human being.

So much of her singing technique and musicality reminds of of Callas at the peak of her powers. She seems like Callas's gentler, prettier daughter. They understand and shape the music so similarly.

Where they are similar is their understanding of the shape of the music, of legato, the shading and shaping of coloratura, their ability to sing the coloratura passages legato without ever resorting to gargling or aspirating, and their ability to sing trills in every register. Whereas many singers learn the wrong lesson from Callas and end up aping her, Oropesa has learned the correct lessons.

Me divierte las comparaciones con la Callas, esa estupidez eterna de comparar a los vivos con los muertos xD quien sabe si quizás la Callas fue mediocre al lado de una Giuditta Pasta en sus mejores tiempos, y de tantas más de los mejores años del Bell canto...las comparaciones son como debates de niños de 10 años. I watched Miss Oropesa sing “Lucia di Lammermoor” at Royal Opera House in London. What a revelation. Her acting moves a stone heart… her coloratura makes one weep! I wept. It was a perfect Lucia. Lisette is an American artist. 🇺🇸 Her talent is as powerful as her beauty. 🌹🌹🌹

Dear Lisette, when you sang your Lucia on opening night at the ROH a new years ago I posted a message on the ROH chat room. It basically told the ROH to lock all the doors of the opera house until they made sure, you had signed all the contracts you wanted for any bel canto rôle . So looking forward to hearing you live at the ROH again.
Stunning! So much freedom which radiates an incredibly beautiful colorful ring and balance of the singers formant. The laryngial structure, base of tongue and hyoid bone are so released that it is working in perfect harmony to create this incredible tone. The artistry and emotion is out if this world. Brava! Except that there was no chest voice which Callas was preaching. I'll still take Oropresa over anyone else these days.
