Awesome documentary, I live on a sailboat in California and would love to sail to the Chesapeake someday! I grew up on the Delaware River and would throughly enjoy spending time on the Chesapeake. Sad that agriculture is poisoning the water but hopefully we stop the runoff of highly contaminated nitrogen and chemicals etc. as it is a crime against our Mother, our planet that gives us life! Don’t pray, do something!

I have lived on sailboats in Annapolis and raced them as well and as you know is a very different way of life. I live in Baltimore now and the bay is still a wonderful body of water with still fine fishing.

Thank you for a beautifully filmed documentary. I love getting to see the beautiful scenery of my own country and hearing about the history of each place. The Chesapeake bay area is truly one of the most beautiful areas of America. May God bless and keep America as a shining beacon to all the world, for His Glory.

I used to live in a little community at the mouth of the Big Elk River where the C&D enters the northern Chesapeake. I would sit on my couch in the mornings drinking coffee and watching the big ships go by.

... in Maryland to dredge oysters ... it is either by tongs or under sail ... no motors allowed. Was that Log Canoe the Bufflehead??? She was built recently ... along w "Caroline" and the Eve ... all other date from the 1940's or much earlier ... but most have been rebuilt several times ...

Tenacious is also fairly new for a log canoe being built by John Chamberlain somewhere back in the 1970's or 80's. I only know because I crewed on Tenacious for one summer.

4:51 Maryland's mainland is on the RIGHT at this point.
5:40 Heading southwest from Turkey Point lands you on the WESTERN shoreline of the Bay.
6:00 Cecil County is South EAST of Turkey point.
7:20 Rock Hall would not export animal skins from the west, because the Bay is literally the western edge of Rock Hall.
7:40 Eastern Neck Island is on the tip of the Kent County Peninsula, which is on the Eastern Shore, not the Maryland mainland.
That's just what I am sure is inaccurate. The title isn't very accurate, as its more than just the C and D Canal. And sadly, the Key bridge is no more, just two months after this video was released.

I was born and raised in Havre de Grace, MD. My heart and sole still reside there, my family has strong roots to the area.
My Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother lived in the Lock House, my Grandmother was actually born in the Lock House, her 3 Year Old Sister was run over and killed in the driveway by one of the early Model T’s.
My Grandfather and Uncle owned and operated a fishing dock and tackle supply which is now Jean Robert’s Park, as my Grandmother would say, “When finishing and hunting was good on the bay”!
I was married at The Concord Point Lighthouse….
Did I mentioned I bleed Havre de Grace yet?
I swam from the Cecil County side of the Susky to Garrett Island and my Grandmother chewed me out, she should have as it was extremely difficult with such strong currents from the Conowingo Damn!
I have since moved out of the immediate area however most of my family still reside in and around “the bay”.
Not much more historic nor beautiful land, and people, than in and around “the bay”
