I have owned multiple Mercedes & Rolls-Royce’s and I still think the 2005 through 2009 Jaguar XJ is one of the best luxury cars ever made. It embodies not only class and style but effortless maneuverability. If I was allowed to only drive one car for next 10 years it would be my 08 Vanden Plas. ( I have 3)
I've owned both a Mercedes Benz S500 and a Jaguar XJ8. They are both powerful luxury cars. I would see 20 S-series Mercedes-Benz cars every week and nobody ever stood beside my MB staring at it. I see one Jaguar XJ8 about once a month if I'm lucky and I have people honking, staring, and coming up to me all the time with my Jag. Again, they are both excellent high performance sports sedans, but the Mercedes makes people yawn and the Jag makes people drool. Pretty simple difference.
This is the last Jaguar that is instantly recognised as a Jag ! surely the designers could have incorporated some of the details into the new range. Jaguar has completely lost it's identity.
i dont understand why most people dont buy these, used they are ridiculous cheap, i bought my 161k mile 04 xj8 for 1100 bucks, its a nice car that just needed a coil spring conversion kit and brakes, i drive it all over.
I just bought a 08 xj8 rides smooth got a deal on it one of the shocks needed to be replaced I fixed it this past weekend. Interior is in excellent condition
@owncompany - You are absolutely right. It was such an iconic and instantly recognizable form. The new Jags are not nearly as attractive, by a longshot.
