As a note. (with no spoilers). This show started out fairly anemic in Japan. For about a week and a half. This show along with a weekly "preview" from NHK were they highlighted 3 of the contestants. Nina at the end being one of the ones being highlighted on NHK news, made the show explode. Went from very little talked about to being the top show in Japan Hulu and made all the girls a national phenomenon in two weeks. Even the girls that didn't make it after the first round became national icons in Japan. The show was first broadcast in Japan when the entire country was on lockdown so EVERYONE saw it. Other idols started praising the show with big time streamers, singers, groups all commenting how great the show ws. It was the right show, with the right contestants, presenting the right attitude, at the perfect time. It first came out at the middle of January and by middle of march was the most talked about thing in Japan. Have fun it's going to be a great ride.

The girls that didn't make it in the first round did not become "national icons" and it was not the "top show in Japan". It was popular but I think this person is just a bit excited you're watching it hehe! As am I, looking forward to the next one!!
P.S. after watching: If you gonna upload nizi project videos once per week, at least react to full episodes (example, part 1 #1-1 and 1-2 combined), otherwise it'll take literally 40 weeks. A full episodes is under 50 minutes (most of the time), so in theory you could even combine 2 episodes into one video like you did with A2K.

I remember watching NPS1 and getting introduced to ITZY, 2PM and Miss A (Already knew TWICE, watched the show coz Sana guested). NPS2 brought in STRAYKIDZ - now Backdoor, God's Menu and My Pace etc are in my playlist.
Great choice. I think between this, Sixteen, and A2K, I enjoyed this one the most in the organic way that was actually intended (I think the other two have unintended meta strengths, though). Compared to A2K, the talent pool is richer and has a stronger baseline (in A2K, I kept wondering if there was enough there to build a group with actual cohesive star power, and without really glaring weaknesses) and the feedback is a little less questionable and sugar-coated, but unlike Sixteen, it never feels staged/scripted, cruel, or downright unethical. Some of the performances and just the general drive on display also floored me and felt memorable in a way that I never felt from the other two shows, personally. The personal stories are probably a little cooler, too.
I’ve honestly heard so many good things about this series so I’m excited to see it. I haven’t seen Sixteen but the Stray Kids survival show also felt similar to what you’re describing. I’m very much looking forward to seeing how the performances go and meeting all of the girls!
glad to see you're doing this series. They originallly aired these on hulu but when it got to YT, each episode got split into 2 so you get the abrupt endings. so 1-1 and 1-2 make up the first episode.

I believe I only saw the first 1-3 episodes (can't remember well), but now that I'm rewatching it with you, I kinda remember Nina. And yeah, she does strike me as a Kendall type--the half Asian, good at expressions. 😃

@@StayMultiverse Actually all of the debut lineup appeared in God's Menu & Back Door MV haha but it's kinda not the main focus so unless you're actually paying attention then only you'll notice, just like how bangchan appeared in TWICE's Like Ooh Ahh MV when he was still a trainee.
Love Nizi Project. Seen it sooooo many times now. If you've only seen A2K then be prepared for much harsher comments by JYP in this show. The 1st part of the show is pretty raw with some good performances, but it gets a lot better in part 2 when they get more time to prepare and professional training.

so exited! After reacting to my ult group Ateez, you are reacting to my fav girl group survival show! Just be prepared he is way more hard on the girls here then he was in A1K.. Also in all of the episodes in part 1 and 2 the performances are cut (for example here, Nina's audition was shortened), there are full versions available on RUclips if you are ever interested in seeing some of them fully :)) All of the participants are doing both - singing and dancing, they just don't always show it. Japan is the second biggest music market in the world, in comparison to it, the Korean one is waaay smaller. The group is really popular now, only this year they've sold 550k concert tickets without even going out of Japan! They are having their Korean cb at the end of the month and will be having Korean activities on shows etc which will be great as they'll grow more outside of Japan!

This is THE Nizi to watch. It is the best JYP talent show for me. And I’ve watched all. The eventual group is a very special one. As we already know from JYP projects, we do not have to be concerned with the technicalities at all during the regional audition stage. The true value is in witnessing their improvements and transformation under a very well oiled system. Also, it is often not those who are technically good right from the start who will excel eventually. JYP continually stresses on 2 things - trajectory and character. An excellent example is Gina from A2K - she is good, but doesn’t have much headroom to change or improvement - or rather, she didn’t improve much throughout. So in terms of trajectory, she has hit a wall and has fallen behind the others eventually. As for character, it’s debatable but it will 100% be the reason for Christina for me. Jyp likes her, but once the strong feedback from trainers and staff came in, it was so bad that he had to cut her out. And from my observations even during regional audition stage, I have reasons to agree. She was also the one I predicted to get the boot in the last round (though Gina was a real surprise)
It seems this is an incredibly popular show, so many people have said good things about it! I’m really excited to see their growth and progress! Ohh I love that! I love it when someone succeeds through hard work and dedication. I understand what you mean. Growth and potential for growth is very important, as is character.

There's a participant here who didn't make it & is still chasing her dream going on multiple survival shows, failed again (the one that formed kep1er) but currently in yet another survival show ("The Girls" which is a produce 101 series but Japan version), I hope the luck is on her side this time so she can finally debut. She's talented & have been improving well since, she's also been going in & out of kpop companies training with successful idols like the members of Lesserafim, even almost debuted in newjeans. She's still young but I guess these days the preference is kids around under 17 sadly. There's been issues going around how trainees worried they can't debut or no companies would want them bcs they're growing older, but like why must a 20 years old, hell even 25 years old feel that way, you're still in your early adult era, you should have a lot of opportunities. So I'm really rooting for her, it's just very inspiring to see her hard work & passion.

Idk if you ever saw how many episodes there are (when the RUclips version splits episodes in half) but with one reaction a week you’re going to be here for 40 weeks… ummm anyway (I won’t spoil) but I think this show is a bit more in your face obvious than A2K as to who will make it so honestly if the plan is to go for 40 weeks you may as well spoil yourself haha. There’s technically 10 episodes per part (season 1 part 1 = Japan and part 2 = Korea), but on RUclips they’re in split in two so that’s 20 episodes per part, 40 total

I'm cautious to say it, I don't think the participants are as good as A2K 😓😓
They're not for the most part. Most of them are very raw and untrained, but there are some real talents among them.
This is THE Nizi to watch.
It is the best JYP talent show for me. And I’ve watched all.
