    I love these guys. I had hoped to volunteer in one of the sanctuaries, when I retired. Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen. I’ll have to be happy watching videos and rescuing dogs. Many dogs are treated just as bad. I’m rescuing another one this week.

      They didn’t donate enough orangutans for the glue factory to sponsor them this year

    My heart is still with Donald, Chen Chen, Saturnus, Hamlet, Cha Cha, Daisy, and all the students from Orangutan Island. I'll always love them. I miss Lone Droescher Nielsen very much as well.

    I love these gentle giants. I often wonder, after being in "school" for years and having their "mothers" there for food and comfort, when they are released do they miss their mothers and wonder why they aren't there?

    • @Eadbhard
      @Eadbhard Год назад

      Orangutans don't think like humans, you dumbass. For the first 6 - 7 years of their lives, they cling to their mothers; but after that, they split off to live their own lives. Orangutans are largely solitary creatures. They don't "wonder why their mothers aren't there".

      of course, but male friends with other orangutans - I hope.

    • @Cara-39
      @Cara-39 Год назад +12

      Most become wilder while living on the pre-release islands and learn to avoid humans, which is why there is very little human interaction with orangutans there, other than the daily food delivery. In the wild, adult females may occasionally hang around with related females but adult males are solitary, which is what the "students" seem to learn when on the pre-release islands.

    • @kendrahansen1175
      @kendrahansen1175 Год назад +1

      @@Cara-39 Nothing could be further from the truth. These pre-release islands are simply places where these animals are intentionally "lost" so that they can be transferred to circuses, zoos and to wealthy people in the Middle East. This "foundation" is one of the biggest frauds around when it comes to conservation. This immoral foundation is making a huge amount of money by stealing these animals from the forest, making cartoon-like videos of the "rehabilitation" process and then selling these animals. It is disgusting and you need to educate yourself on this situation before you spread more misinformation.

    The baby orangutans at Nyaru Menteng are mostly fat compared to babies in the jungle with their mothers. In the jungle school they are well fed with milk, fruits and vegetables. In the jungle they have to forage their own food.

    Oh my Goodness I WANT THE JOB FEEDING THESE GUYS, Wipdcanimals don't have to be trained to be wild, they know how instinctually. If you have to train them to live 8n the wild that means t. hey are not wild and should not attempt to live innthe live in the wild because they will die! It's pretty obvious that they belong with people especially since they live twice as long.

    on the other hand, these orang utans cant survive in the wild cos them humans are feeding them daily with delicious foods.
    similar to queen elizabeth being fed with the best foods daily that she never tasted mcdonalds, jack in the box or worst: burger king!!!!
