I cycled with Beryl at the Morley club with my cousin Philip North and we both found Beryl inspirational and at that time we were 14 years old. Even to this day I find myself still talking about her to all my friends and family. She was also better than us at darts too ! After every Sunday ride we always came back knackered but looked forward to the next expedition. She should have had better recognition in life for all her achievements. You must feel very proud Charlie and Denise
I only came across her achievements recently, after being in cycling and following cycling for over 40 years. She was so far ahead of her time I hope more people recognise her achievements. She deserves a major women's trophy in the UCI named after her.
as a young American cyclist in the 70s we would once in awhile get wind of the mysterious Beryl Burton in racing periodicals. She seemed a distant fantasy figure or some type of imaginary cycling goddess from mythology. We never saw film it seems, just still photos of her.
a total legend, there was no-other woman around to touch her for decades when she held all the comp records, the best of which was her incredible 12hr set in 1967 that stood for 50 years. RIP
Just read her book Absolute legend! Incredible record It's like seeing selina Williams beating g roger Federer at Wimbledon! Such was her dominance of the sport!
The last seconds of the clip show Beryl time trialing but it’s a reverse image, the chainset shows on the wrong side. Can it not be changed to a correct visual image so you view Her and the chainset as a correct image?

I'd heard of Beryl, but having read more about her, I'm staggered at her acheivements. Awesome.
