  • In 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. and Ralph Abernathy led a march through the streets of Birmingham, Alabama. Both were arrested and placed in solitary confinement. There, MLK penned his famously stirring letter defending African-American resistance.

Wyatt T Walker smuggled a small camera, which was wrapped and taped to his leg into the jail. Some things are just a google search away!

I am not sure what you mean by, "[MLK] is rolling in his grave now at how his efforts are being reversed by his own people." I can assure you that blacks are not trying to reverse the legacy of Dr. King, essentially (as you appear to assert,) casting themselves back into an era of white subjugation and segregation. After all, there are few organisms on this Earth who lack the basic instinct of self-preservation.
If anything is more self-evident it's America as a whole has never lived up to the ideas prescribed in the United States Constitution: Life, liberty, and justice and freedom for all. How many Americans have to choose between life and death as they weigh paying for their medication or keeping the lights on? How many liberties have we allowed the government to usurp in the name of security? What does it say about justice when blacks are killed for wearing hoodies, shot in the back by police, or killed for selling loose cigarettes? How much freedom do we really have when our current leaders are not even popularly elected and fail to represent and execute the will of "We The People of the United States"?
Ever since the founding of this country we have been a hypocritical mark in history. However, Dr. King shinned a light on our hypocrisy and appealed to our "better angels."
And then we killed him. And his death, and Americas inability to confront and reconcile the sins of the past, has allowed dubious individuals to make asinine arguments on the internet--the place where vile anonymity propers--that does little to advance the upliftment and enrichment of their fellow Americans. This is why we are in the situation we are in today, where a "man" who brags about sexually assaulting white women and calls brown countries "shitholes" can strive, becoming the leader of our great nation.
Monday is MLK Day, a day of reflection and civic service. If you really worry about the legacy of MLK then how about instead of denigrating blacks you do something positive in the black community to uplift them instead of tearing them down. My friend, Blacks, Whites, Asians, Hispanics, Indians, and Arabs all have a shared destiny. In MLK's own words, “We must all learn to live together as brothers or we will all perish together as fools." Don't be a fool! Cast aside all your fears, prejudices, hatreds, and misconceptions and instead, strive to make positive change for you brother, sister, community, country, worlds, the universe, and, finally, eternity.
