  • At the conclusion of my time in St. Louis, I got on the Metrolink train at the Laclede's Landing Station in Downtown St. Louis. This video shows the train ride from there all the way to the Lambert International Airport (Terminal 2), plus the short walk to get from the Airport Station to the airport itself. Filmed on March 1, 2023.

    The MetroLink is one of my favorites to watch. I feel like St. Louis still has potential to be a major hub like its old sister Chicago.

      I love STL but I am convinced that it peaked a long time ago. None the less, there are great projects and efforts going on right now so I do think it's future is brighter than what we see today

    Wow, nice light rail trains but i never been to St. Louis MO before. I'm from Cincinnati, Ohio and I love our streetcars.

      I love our streetcars as well, but they benefit very few commuters due to their lack of coverage. You have to be downtown or in OTR to utilize them, which is useless unless you live near downtown. Hoping for more expansion to Clifton/Covington at least! 🤞

    I’m in St. Louis, the building with the design on it is the Sheraton Hotel. And it’s Grand Blvd not avenue, CWE is the access to Barnes Jewish hospital.

    I haven't been to St. Louis in years. I can't stand when people be blasting their music without headphones but they do it on the Chicago buses and trains too.

      Yeah, and it happened on like 6 of the 7 train rides I went on, so I imagine it's a regular thing in St. Louis. In Cleveland, I never hear it on the Red Line train, and no one does it on busses because drivers would tell them to stop.

      It served me pretty well for those five days. I also took a few busses; it seems like there is good coverage for getting to where you need to. One thing I noticed was every time I rode the train, someone at some point during the ride would come on and start blaring loud music.

    For a few years I commuted by MetroLink. 8th & Pine for work over to Shrewsbury at the end of the Blue line where I’d either have drove & parked at or I’d take either the 21 Watson Rd or 46 Tesson Ferry bus. Off hours I’d always ride in the front train by the driver but rush hour it was always pretty populated so I’d ride on either, usually rear going to work and front going home just due to platform exit layout.

    8th and Pine is actually closer to the Arch. This makes me incredibly homesick.

    The slow traffic from right before the Forest Park station all the way to Forsyth is due to repairs from catastrophic flooding we had a couple of years ago. 12 inches of rain fell in like a couple of hours. luckily just this week, the new signal tower opened and flood repairs were completed and its really nice going fast in that stretch again.

    Great video! From the cortex station what’s the best way to get to the grove via public transportation?

    • @PokoTraveler
      @PokoTraveler  Год назад

      There is no public transportation that gets to The Grove from the Cortex Station. Per Google Maps, it's a 12 minute walk. I tried to see if other stations would have a connecting bus instead, but I didn't see a good solution. For example, you could go to Central West End (the station after Cortex), but it requires a 12 minute walk just to get to the bus; which defeats the purpose since you could've been there already by walking from Cortex.
      One note on Google Maps: when searching for The Grove, search for "The Grove Area" instead on Manchester Avenue. Just looking for "The Grove" on Google Maps takes you to some other, unrelated area.

    Not exactly a busy train station on a weekday afternoon.

      Yeah, the Downtown Station wasn't full during the day, but the train accumulated a full crowd of riders along the way. The trains come fairly frequently too.

    How rude!!
    People blast their music on a train???
    Obnoxious..,,
    Is that allowed??
    We don’t all enjoy the same music!!

    • @PokoTraveler
      @PokoTraveler  Год назад +3

      On Cleveland busses, the bus driver will usually vocalize that people need to turn music off. I don't hear it played on Cleveland trains. But for whatever reason, someone was blasting it every time I took a St. Louis train. I haven't heard music like that in Utah or Colorado on their trains.
