When the dependent variable is either 1 or 0, OLS can noot be used as estimated variable will corss the limit of 1 or zero. For instance in case of Estimated Y = a +bX, if a = -0.3 and b is 1.5, let X be 1, Y will be 1.2 and if X is 0 , Y will be -0.3. Both case are not acceptable. Video explains how this can be tackled with logistics regression. Procedure is explained with Eviews.
Thank youuuuu so much i needed it
Thanks , keep watching
Very easily described.👍
Thank
hi Dr,
Thank you for the very useful video.
I have a question. How can I determine the optimal cut off when I want to run Expectation-Prediction Evaluation for Binary Specification?
Thanks for interest and comments.
Click on View/Expectation-Prediction Table. EViews opens a dialog prompting you to specify a prediction cutoff value, , lying between zero and one. Each observation will be classified as having a predicted probability that lies above or below this cutoff.
A separate video is being uploaded soon.
I too need to run this logit regression but it has an error of 'Dependent Variable has no variance'. What should be done?
In logistic regression, the dependent variable is either zero or 1. If there are all ones or all zeros, variance will be zero. Check your data especially dependent variable.
@@DrJKSachdeva Thank you Sir, for your response. Can you please tell me if I can tamper the definition of logit. Is it changeable to a definition other than 0.5? The reason behind no variance is the definition.
Follow the literature, but if circumstances compel, change the parameters as needed. No problem.
@@DrJKSachdeva ok thank you Sir!
