In January 2019 three close friends, bass players Gerold Genssler, Jan-Ole Fabian and Szymon Marciniak founded a trio project to share their love for music. The Trio is called SOG and performs only free improvised pieces.
SOG is happy to present the recording of their debut concert that took place in March 2019 during the Basseurope Academy at Kolster Michaelstein, Germany. Everything heard in this performance happened on the spot- there were no pre-agreements between players about the form or character of each piece. Pure improvisation- listening and reacting.

Trio is an optimum number in so many ways, interesting textures but not too much information. I've heard composers say that when writing for orchestra it's best not to have more than 3 things going on at once, the ear just can't cope. Love the sound of those tempera strings (if that's what they all are).
