Jokic was a 2nd round pick. Porzingis got boo’d on draft night. Giannis wasn’t even a lottery pick. You can’t write a player off to be simply a future role player.
exactly, thank you
Yeah especially if none of the media outlets are talking about rob dillingham he has potential
Tingus Pingus turned into Ringus Pingus
@@lucaslonchampt613LOL
exactly u can't predict who will thrive in the NBA and who will be a bust
Saying 2013 without Giannis like everyone expected him to be this good 💀 that's what the draft is about, low risk high reward investments 1 through 60, even if you pick a bust at 1 the real downside is a little headache and pocket money loss compared to other salaries.
😂😂facts
The book on Giannis coming into the draft was that he was a raw, high-upside player. People knew that Giannis had great handles for his size, combined with impressive athleticism. They didn't expect him to grow 2 more inches and become jacked, but even at that age he did have outlier traits that suggested he could be a really good player.
Greek freak, real ones could tell
Indeed. He wasn't even a lottery pick, but pick 15. No one even knew his name until he got good many years later. Now people pretending like it was common knowledge he was going to be good, lol!
This was the Anthony Bennett year right?
You never know how a draft will turn out. Isaiah Thomas was the last pick, Giannis was a massive project at the time of his draft, Jokic was drafted during a dang TB commercial haha
Exactly.
They are outliers tho.
But yeah that can happen
“It’s basically 2013 without Giannis”
Y’all thought the best Giannis could be was Nic Batum 😐
Exactly! The man is contradicting himself way too much in this video. Well, i guess everybody deserves a bad day at the office.
How u gonna say "u won't find your franchise star in the class but u might find some guys who can help compliment your star" how in the hell do we know? Lmao like come on now... watch this class end up being dope. Let's come back to this in a few years
Yea, predictions are wrong all the time, even from so-called experts. It’s ridiculous to write people off before they even play
True. '86 had nothing but roll guys with one Dennis Rodman becoming a HOFer. This class reminds me of '86. NO ONE pops out like ... '84...'96...'03.. those classes u just knew.
This is what you get when most of the best players are internationals and media don't want to talk about them because they are xenophobic, in my eyes Nikola Topic is probably the guy with the biggest ceiling but he is easily the most injury prone and yet no one is talking about him instead media is talking about the guy that is 2nd round pick and if we are realistic a undrafted player because his father is Lebron
Well it doesn't help that he tore his acl
We have enough Nikola’s in this league….Lord help us
@@dennischacko499 not full torn acl but yea it truly doesn't
Lol dumb clown he has acl injury now
Not just xenophobic. It's flat out racist. But it gets swept under rug by the media because it's a the "acceptable" type these days.
"You won't find the next franchise star in this class".
No one knows that yet
The one time my wizards get a top 2 pick its a draft class full of solid players and no superstars😒
Fr
So true feel bad for wiz fans 😭💀hey maybe you guys get a Greek freak type pick
First pick next year is comin’, believe 🤞🤞🙏🙏
I'm a hawks fan. Been waiting my whole life for a #1 so we couldn't fuck it up...just to have the first draft with no #1 or 2 in decades...I understand brother🥲
-edit- JOHN WALL. You are no brother of mine lol.
Sarr is gonna be great for you guys
Until I see a draft class perform as poorly as the 2000 draft class, I’ll never take what these scouts and analysts say seriously. Because every other class they labeled as weak ended up having a lot of quality players and all stars mixed in. 😅
I will consider this year's draft as a straight up unknown. It's just playing a game and chance on this one since there's no real solid number one guy to be picked
Kwame Brown and Anthony Bennett are 2 obvious examples for how the scouts and analysts fail to predict, this 2 players are consider as top prospects and they turned out to be a bust, so yeah we can't never predict a player or a draft class as completely untalented or full of busts. This is why i normally wait about 3 or 4 years after the draft then i will see how bad or how good they will become. There are so many factors that can affect young prospect development, for example, injury or the culture of that team, it's hard to say are good or bad just before the draft, we have to wait to see how they can tranfer their skill set into the NBA
I'll consider this draft as very good players late in the draft until proven otherwise by time
Why was Zach the most mobile and laterally Quick big man at the combine.... Surprisingly quick and mobile they said
I think a lot of guys have serious potential in this class, I mean Sarr could become an Evan Mobley type defender but with an offensive game, Risacher could become an elite 3nD player, someone like Stephon Castle could become the next Jrue Holiday
It’s a deep draft tbh, just not top 3 talent, there will be all stars out of this draft tho
like '86
Atlanta has the toughest pick.
I’d gamble on Edey. He can score in the post and block shots. I like him over Clingan.
@@Bwell218he’s pretty much taco fall
@@AlegendArises nah taco fall dont got post moves. i think hes more like boban. too big and heavy
His bust potential is quite high. Ayooo
*NO DIDDY*
Lol “Ayooo” like someone said something gay 😂
Bro high asf showing that coffee 😂
Zach Edey is the true 1st overall pick this year. The numbers he put up are historically great (28.4 pts, 13.7 reb, 2.3 ast per 36 on 62.3% FG) and is similar to that of only players like Shaq, Kareem and Bill Walton, all of which went first overall, won MVPs and are in the HOF. People assume he's unpolished and slow, but he really isn't (outperforming Sarr in the combine lane agility, shuttle run and three quarter sprint, which i know, the combine isn't everything, but it also isn't nothing). He's got great touch, timing, footwork and shooting for his size. He's shooting over 70 % FT on almost 13 attempts per game as a 7'5" center. You can clown on me all you want, but if I'm Atlanta I take that with the 1st overall pick. He's like Yao Ming, doesn't put up fancy highlights, but so consistently good at simple hook shots and layups.
Sarr gives me Kwame Brown vibes. People just assume he's a great defender because he kinda looks like he should be. But man, watching him you realize he's actually kinda trash on defence. Very bad rebounder and anticipation, commits a lot on pump fakes and crossovers. Not good at boxing out and using leverege, and therefore gets out rebounded by players that really shouldn't. Of course he has strengths, but he's quite raw. I don't think he's 1st overall material. I would definitely take Edey, Dillingham, Castle, Buzelis, Sheppard, Cody Williams over him any day.
He'll be out of the league in 5 seasons. You can quote me on that. His numbers are great, but so were Jimmer Fredette, Tyler Hansbrough, and Adam Morrison (and all those guys played in an Era that suited their games). Edey would have been phenomenal 30 years ago, but those times have changed, and there's a reason that archetype of player barely exists today. He is slow footed and lacks any other skill that isn't dependent on his height. The combine really means nothing, KD couldn't bench 185 once and it's never impacted his game. All you have to do is watch Edey's game to see all the flaws that will be targeted at the next level.
Gafford and Lively don't shoot 3s. And yet they went to the NBA Finals.
He’s going 2nd round or late 1st
TLDR: As someone who has never cared about college sports, what most people are going through now with this draft class and barely knowing the upcoming draftees, I go through this every single year 😂.
I have been watching and been a fan of the NBA for a decade and a half but I have NEVVERRRRRRRRR cared about college/international hoops,
I will be honest and admit that I never know who anybody coming into the draft is until a couple of months before the draft.
And yes that includes everyone from the draft for the past few classes. I've never heard of Victor Wembanyama in my life until like April of last year when he was popping off in his French league.
I've never heard of Paolo Banchero or Cade Cunningham until a month or 2 before their respective drafts either.
This happens for me every single year. As the NBA playoffs are coming to a close I randomly start hearing about the projected Top Prospects that can have a chance to be drafted #1.
And it's ALWAYS somebody I've never heard of because I don't watch college sports.
same here man
I never thought I see you commenting on another RUclips, love your RUclips channel, one of my favorite RUclipsrs
Used to try keeping up with college ball, it’s damn near impossible unless you’re following a couple conferences….just too many players and teams in the NCAA.
Best time to watch or follow is march madness unfortunately
Reed Sheppard shooting 52% from 3 on 4.4 attempts per game is nuts. I’m not gonna be surprised if he’s All-NBA.
All-NBA? More like Klay but a little more athletic maybe?
Reed’s a guaranteed bust. Jimmer part 2.
Everyone is overthinking Edey's viability. Check his combine numbers both years he went. He beat in every agility drill: Gobert, Lopez, Jonas Valinciunas, Steven Adams, and maybe most importantly, Donovan Clingan.
One of the absolute worst videos I’ve ever seen on Andy’s channel. Very clear that he never watched Sarr or Risacher play a single game. Risacher has amazing shooting touch and can get himself open at any time. Dude already looks like Franz Wagner with more touch. And Sarr’s sheer athleticism and instincts are incredible.
I'm fully supporting this draft class now, and I hope it surprises everyone by becoming a good draft class. I always say just because there's no consensus # 1 overall pick doesn't automatically make it a bad draft class.
The thing is, player's can improve their game reason why there's is such a thing as most improve player award given in game of basketball
Im all for Zack Edey loved how he went up in the draft projections after a very sucessful combine and I hope he does well in the NBA but I dont know about him being taken in the top 20 he seems risky, if he was more mobile😩
People are underratingg this class as a whole because there's no sure-fire star, but there are plently of nba ready players and some others with star potential if everything goes right. When we look back on this class there will undoubtedly be busts, but there will also be a lot of solid role players and some stars.
I really want Zach Edey to succeed
Haha love to see people call out Stephen A Smith and his bias against Euro players 😭 thank you AndyHoops
I feel that it is impossible to just say that there will be no stars. Yeah this is a weak draft, but there will be at least one all star level player and maybe even a surprise All NBA caliber player.
As a Hawks fan, I never really did expect to get the no. 1 pick, and even tho this is a weak class, I trust the management and scouts to pick the best of the class. These past few years, the hawks made brilliant drafts given their picks like Young, Collins, Huerter, Reddish, Jalen Johnson, AJ griffin. Im sure the no 1 pick would be the best in the class
Don't sleep on zach edey and donovan clingan
2024 NBA WEAK DRAFT EVER
Zach Eden looks just like Yao Ming did, moved the same and had the same game.
The thing is we just never know could be the best draft of all time we just never know until people play
Boo Buie better get picked in round 2. This is the worst NBA draft ever.
Yall think the number pick will be a surprise like the 2013 Draft?
As I’ve started looking deeper into the draft this is 100% a talented draft but there’s really only have about 3-4 guys who have all star potential.
Also I firmly believe Clingan will be a star and a perennial DPOY candidate
@@trevormay101 He will be a Walker Kessler type guy probably
@@bigdave9188 he’s got a little more of a jump shot than Walker. But yea I’ve always seen the comp
This is a fantastic draft so much talent 🔥🔥🔥
Theres ALOT of "if he can fix this one thing he will be a star" players in this draft i think we will look back and be supprised at how solid this class is
Dont understand edey hate. With shooters spread floor, he do damage inside
Good vid Andy 🤠
I hope Edey will have a brook Lopez like of improvement
It looks like the report were correct about the 2024 NBA Draft and some even compare this to the 2013 class where Bennett went first overall and became a massive bust.
With all of that hype last draft with Wemby, it's nice this year's draft is more low key. The players won't have so many expectations to be some franchise changing player. Role players are a great thing. Not every draft needs a generational talent to be seen as serviceable.
I miss watching ur videos bro keep up the great content brother!
Thanks for the update
Edey reminds me of a more mobile Yao Ming. Are we saying without the benefit of being Chinese that play style is worthless? I think not
He's half Chinese.
On the surface level the class looks weak, but ultimately you truly never know how good a player will be.
Every year there are a few draftees that over perform expectations. This year it was Jaime Jaquez and GG Jackson.
Also worth noting are Marcus Sasser, Cam Whitemore, Tristan Vukcevic.
Plus i’m sure as the years go by even more players from this draft will rise up out of nowhere.
I don’t understand what formula or procedure people use to judge players. Before the 2023 draft, people made the case for Scoot Henderson to be the #1 pick over Wemby, fast forward to the end of the 23-24 season and Scoot didn’t even make the All-Rookie second team. I am not throwing shade at Scoot, he has the capacity to become an All-Star in the future, but it would be too harsh to predict that he is going to be just a role player just after his first season. I honestly hate the NBA off-season because it is full of grown men who have never played organized basketball at a high level that judge and criticize TEENAGERS that have made the sport of basketball basically their life.
Whoever gets Enrique Freeman from Akron is gonna get a dawg 🔥
I agree with Andy here there is a lot of good role players but no superstars..
Sponsorship ends at 3:07
That picture of a young kat and KD got KD looking like a young Shannon sharpe Lmaooo had to do a double take
Basically if you’ve got your star and need role players this is the class you need to load up in. Play now role players are a premium these days. There’s nothing wrong with that with how teams are set to win. 1-2 stars and lots of good role players.
Ive always felt like the reason why this draft gets downplayed is because Bronny is it in. Now Team can take a chance on him since the draft is weak
Nah bruh
Bro the conspiracy you have is insane
Zach Edey would be a perfect pick for the OKC who desperately need a big man defender.
The way you said "Maestro" 😂😂😂
Crazy that the 2013 draft both produced Anthony Bennett a top 3 all-time bust and the 2 best players, Giannis and Gobert, were both drafted outside the lottery.
Looks like this draft will be compared to the 2000 Draft for worst of all time, the one whose best player was Michael Redd, a 2nd round pick who was the only selection to make an All-NBA team and one of only 3 with an all-star selection along with Martin and Magliore.
Magloire was an All Star that one year lol (2004).
Zack edy is gonna be a star.
How about matas and reed sheperd?
2024 worst Draft class ever
I can’t wait to see when one of these players takeoff 2 to 3 years from now and people start going, I told you that guy was going to be good😂😂😂 the thing I don’t like about the draft is that basically you can hype up a bum like Ben Simmons and have no accountability basically
A lazy cliché take every year without 2 or 3 franchise players is irs a week draft
Hatin video. Someone might emerge as All-star, like Haliburton was not expected to be that good.
Topic led Zvezda to 2 chsmpionships? Are you high?
When you get a C- average in high school, but still make it to College.
The beauty lies in the unpredictability. We will never know who will flourish into all stars or even better, only time will tell.
What every draft tells us is that nobody knows as much as they claim. 2013 was down, but not at 1989 or 2000 levels (Giannis, Gobert, lots of good roleplayers). Wiggins was supposed to be the generational talent out of 2014, which people were right to call a good draft but were wrong on the top tier players. 2020 had Anthony Edwards, Lamelo Ball, Tyrese Haliburton, and Tyrese Maxey, and was supposedly weak leading up to the draft.
Wait I thought you once insist in the past that you're not gonna show any clips from college basketball? You did mention when you grade the 2018 NBA Draft.
Raptors taking Jonathon Mogbo at 31
Raptors are irrelevant
One of the reasons why old school centers are having a hard time thriving at the NBA is the defensive 3 second rule.
Topic is a great prospect for a team that has time to wait. I think, if he's still on the board at 14, Blazers should be definitely be interested in taking him.
I would have to disagree about 2013 being a bad draft class in history I think that belongs to the 2000 NBA draft class.
Zach edey about to prove everyone wrong
We can talk all we want but we won’t know until they step on the court
The new CBA may factor into the newfound value of four-year college players. You don’t want prospects that will pan out in four or five years, when you will have to pay big bucks to keep them; you want players that can contribute while on a rookie-scale salary.
Watching the Clippers and the Mavericks during playoff, we know a good team isn't about how many all star they have. This draft class might not be flashy but it might solidify teams more than all star prospects would
Dillingham’s bag and offensive polish i feel is very well suited for NBA level play he could be a kemba walker type player
If there was ever a draft teams should focus less on what a player CAN do currently, and instead on what he COULD become...its this one.
Objectively, what was the worst class ever?
In terms WAR, max WS/48, All-stars, All-NBA, etc?
The only player being covered in the ‘24 draft class is the Nepo Baby
This is kinda stupid when we haven't even saw any of these guys in an NBA game. There's been plenty of late pick players that turned out to be great, there's also been a quite a few high picks of "the next Jordan/LeBron/Kobe/etc" that turned out to be busts. Only in like 10+ years can we look back at this class and evaluate it, like the last video looking back at the 2008 draft.
You will see in futur , we have a lot of potential in this draft , especially with salaun for exemple
Reid Sheppard I knew who he was because I remember his dad from when Kentucky won way back in 1998.
I think people are underrating this draft class because there isn't one guy who separates himself from the rest. This isn't a bad class there's just no Victor Wembenyama like last draft class or a Cooper Flag like we'll see next year.
I would 100% bet that this draft would be wonderful and would produce several superstars just because how the media is claiming it to be so bad, and almost every time a news outlet say something about the draft, the complete opposite happens. I mean look at Scoot Henderson rocking bling bling grills and flexing on Wemby just to play like fcking Travis Best in his first year.
Watch ten years from now this draft kicks off a new era led by Wembanyama
Most NBA players right now has their respective weaknesses and there are so many star potential prospects who are bust right now.
Speedy Gonzalez = Ligeirinho
No draft class has no potential guys who can grow in the right environment. Short-sightedness is such a detriment to the way we analyze sports. I’m sure this class will produce at least ONE person who is capable of either changing a franchise or aiding the star on the team.
Michael “the possession ends here” porter jr
It wouldve beeen even funnier if DET finnally got the #1 pick this year 😂
"Alex sarr is a legit 7 footer" and is measured at 6'11.75 barefoot
Come on man its 0.25 inches
@@noonenobody4282 so its not legit then.
Man its crazy that Shepperd and Clingan betting line are both over under 3.5! Shepperd is like 6feet tall and Clingan wont be Jokic like lol, Clingan would be a back up center and Shepperd is like bench player
Some of these guys gonna shock the league I can already tell. Someone that im high on besides Sarr is Tyler Smith. G league ignite player 6’11 and can handle the ball like a guard and score
August of 2005 is crazy to think about since i was born in 95 smh
You know there are going to be some stars when nobody is projected to be one.
And as you know those cases you just named are anomalies. Rarely does that ever happen.
*Thank god my Kings will likely trade their pick this year* 💪🏾
They shouldn't, getting a guy like Jared McCain or Cody Williams would be great
@@bigdave9188McCain would be alright, but the Kings as presently constructed are win-now and can’t necessarily afford to wait for a prospect to pan out.
@@JahNuhThunDeeTheOneAndOnly Win now won't really work unless they trade for another star so getting a prospect ain't so bad
2024 class is gonna be the role players for 2025
A year or 2 ago people we're comparing matas buzelis and cooper flagg to each other, in 2024 cooper flagg is getting praises and being called a future star, but nobody's even watching matas' games anymore, it's not like one of them drastically changed their playstyle they still play similarly and i would argue matas plays better defense than cooper from what i've watched. I really think there's atleast one all-star/all-star level player, mainly Risacher,Buzelis, sarr,Reed Sheppard and maybe Mccain, clingan and/or knecht
Edit: also Rob dillingham dont know how I forgot abt him
This draft has depth true but will any of these players further the board will actually develop and be good role players
This is not necessarily a bad draft class. It's bad if you're looking for stars because there are no guaranteed or definite stars in the class, no high ceilings but if you're looking for great players with high floors, this is the perfect draft class.
