Yup, her parents actually called her that first and she didn't know her name was Jean until she was about 4 or 5 years old, when she entered school! She thought her name was Baby that whole time 😅
How I've adored Jean Harlow since early childhood. To be mesmerized by such a legendary Hollywood icon as Jean literally escapes me. I've even contemplated being the reincarnation of Jean.
I think either Debbie Reynolds or Shelley Winters, or both, knew about this acting coach, and put one exactly like him in their film, "What's the Matter with Helen?"
She definitely is more famous but being more glamorous is subjective because it depends what you like. Also you will never be able to see Jean Harlow's beauty fully because mostly her photos are in B&W and also Marilyn Monroe's fashion and style is much more contemporary than 1930s makeup, clothes etc. And still trends are temporary. Tomorrow if 1930s makeup and style become popular Harlow would be considered more glamorous. It's all about preference more than anything else imho.
i believe bc the 30s style gave a sense of more lighting towards the eyes. i remember reading somewhere (but can’t find the source so forgive me, im not sure how true it might be) that jean harlow didn’t like much her eyebrows bc she felt like they made her look angry when she’s relaxed, and that’s why she changed them to the 30s style.
@@KingRon-xt1gp Thank you. I had seen it before, did not have the address. It is the same. You could stand where she did, 90 years ago. I hope they have the good sense to preserve it.
She was one of a kind. Her nickname among her peers was "the baby".

Her name was Harlean. She took her mother's name Jean Harlow.
Like Monroe, she didn't need acting lessons, she simply had to learn to be her own witty, charming self in front of the camera. Love these clips.
Her beautiful smile😭❤

So great to see rare footage like this of Jean.
I wish media would talk about her and Marie dressier so we don't forget them..
Correction : Dressler
Naturally beautiful & super talented!
Thanks for sharing!
Love her hair !!
I like to think there she is. Young and fresh and walking in the sun.
What a wonderful film clip. Thank you for posting it!
The house is at 6113 Whitley Terrace in Whitley Heights.
Thank you. I was sure it must still exist in some form still.
Thank you. I was wondering about that.

Wowwwww!
Marilyn adored her, so it is ironic that Marilyn is now far more famous and more glamorous.

It's ok James ur not goin deaf!!!
Could you upload other videos of her where she isn't acting in a movie?
Where was this filmed?
I will always wonder: Why didn't they leave her pretty natural eyebrows alone....
That was the look in the 1930's. Natural brows returned in the 1940's after Jean was gone.

Marilyn literally copied her hairstyle
Many actresses copied her hair both in the 30's and later. Marilyn watched Jean's films when she was a little girl and she was one of Marilyn's idols.
Swear that house looks like something I seen in Bad Boys or Beverly Hills Cop. I can't remember.
No sound??
No sound.
How is the coach? She's such a baby love those pants
How is the coach? Dead, I'd assume.
@@MyLovelyDeadFriends funny i really need to proof read my comments before I hit send..ha.
@@chriskershaw4164 Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Was in a playful mood ;)
Her coach was Samuel Kayzer. You can find his property on Google maps: 6613 Whitley Terrace, LA. It looks almost like in the 30´s.
