      Hi Mark, you can check out "How Do I Restore a Backup" at www.hostgator.com/help . Depending on the type of account one has the steps may/will vary.

    I guess I can't help but worry that it now says "Full Account Backup" instead of "Full Website Backup" but still seems to be in the same spot. I am using third-party software for a forum site and I get nervous whenever I go into my CP file manager to make updates.

    Thanks for the explanation. Are backups universal for all hosts or is this specific to Host Gator?

    • @hostgatorUS
      @hostgatorUS  3 года назад

      Hi sailingnoir, backups run once a week as a courtesy, other backups vary depending on the type of hosting account. It's always strongly encouraged one should make their own backups for extra protection, or use a third-party backup service, such as CodeGuard.

    Hello. How can I restore this backup? I have read the article but I can't find where to upload the .tar file.

    • @hostgatorUS
      @hostgatorUS  3 года назад

      The .tar file is usually found in your home directory, or the top most directory of your file manager to restore it you would extract the .tar file to the folder of your choice. If you've ever dealt with a ZIP file it's similar to that.
      You can also have our support administrators perform the restore if you don't feel confident about it.
      You can contact our support at 18669642867 or at helpchat.hostgator.com

      @@hostgatorUS thank you very much for your response. The thing is, I have the file but I don’t know where to upload it. For example, for Home backup there is the option to restore it right after the download option, at the backup section on cpanel. But for the full backup there is no such an option. I hope to make sense they way I expressed it.

    Hi. Thanks for this. Great tutorial. My website is rather big -- 23GB -- so the usual process doesn't work. How do I go about creating a full CPanel backup with such a big site?

    • @hostgatorUS
      @hostgatorUS  Год назад

      No worries. If you have the addon CodeGuard you can download your backup that way. Or, if your backup is larger than 10GB or has more than 150,000 inodes, and you have a Shared, Cloud Sites, or Reseller plan, contact Live Support. A support ticket needs to be created for you to get a backup.

    I don't see anything like this Control Panel you're showing. I get a link to open WHM, but I don't see anything related to backups or downloads. Maybe this video is just old.

    • @hostgatorUS
      @hostgatorUS  3 года назад +1

      Hi tomservo... if you are logged into your WHM you would click on the cPanel of the account. Inside cPanel, click the "backup" options to make a full backup which you can download and store. Well be here if you need any help. Live Support always available helpchat.hostgator.com or telephone/Skype 1866.964.2867.

    how much is codeguard and is there a limit on the backup size?

    • @hostgatorUS
      @hostgatorUS  3 года назад

      Hi hogarth, CodeGuard has different levels and options you can select from. It currently starts at $32.95/a year. Backups are compressed and will often be much smaller than the actual content size you see in your control panel or SFTP/FTP.

    How to upload this full backup file

    • @hostgatorUS
      @hostgatorUS  4 года назад +2

      Hi Tarequ, a full backup must be restored by the root user for the server if you have access. A home directory backup and MySQL database backup can be restored in cPanel, in the same place where the backup was created.

      Hi! Just in case, check your junk/spam folder for the backup alert email. Or check inside your File Manager directly for the backup. The more files you have the longer it can take. If you are still experiencing an issue contact Live Support for help with a backup via chat, telephone, or call via Skype for free anytime.

    How to only backup addon domain files?

    • @hostgatorUS
      @hostgatorUS  2 года назад

      In your backup settings you'd want to ensure you specify that you'd only want a certain directory to be backed up.
      Additionally our CodeGuard service can also be specifically told which domains you'd like to backup.
      If you need some additional help or guidance just give our live support a call and they'll be happy to help. 1866.964.2867 or chat at helpchat.hostgator.com
