Ok really cool idea: do the same thing but with all six sides by rotating them 90 degrees. This would be insane to pull off though, but it might be possible
csx, the reason the portals were not loading is because the first time you make a portal in a new world, it has to download all the assets and properties. Once the game has recognized that this is a change of position, the portal calibrates and loads. I would recommend that the next time you want to make a video similar to this one, use the same superflat world. If you unload the chunks that the portals are in, however, there is a possibility that you may need to wait for the calibration once more. Hope this helps!
@@csx42 Interesting. I am not sure why this is, but in most cases chunks need to be loaded twice. The way the mod works is that it replicates your view of the chunks, and when you move through a portal, you are using the /tp command, essentially. I did not make the mod, so I do not know the full inner workings, but I can confidently say from my experience in this industry, that the chunk loading is probably a bug fix or safe measure to make sure the portals do not completely bug out. I once again hope this helps and makes sense, and I may or may not be correct on this statement. Either way, I hope this message comes back to you and helps you in your further videos. I’m pretty sure that if you overlapped two portals in the same place with one flipped opposite to the other, it makes a mirror you can walk through. There’s a command to make a mirror but you can’t walk through. This means that you didn’t need to make a whole other house and it would be really simple.

If your still wondering what the loading thing was, basically if you set the portal render limit above 200 it will search for the portal within the limit you set. So basically if I set it to 500 it will "load chunks" to find a portal in that range.
There is an easier way to hide things with portals! All you have to do is create an either inward or outward portal. (I can’t remember which) one of the makes it so that you either cannot escape it when you enter or you cannot escape at all.
I made this some months ago, but i also made a room which has only standing surfaces, You can stand in every wall i mean. :D Things like these are super cooooool!!
so when the portal thing was loading chunks this always happens or at least it always happens to me. What's happening is when you load a new world it wants to get the right amount of chunks to load for every portal and its kind of like a test to make sure the mod is going to work for every portal that you make in the world. That's my explanation for it.

It could be nice to use this kind of stuff for another Hide&Seek map. You make two houses, and you link them using a room with the same dimension. You just have to jump to be in the other house (don't know if both houses should be available to enter from outside or not)

If you can perfectly cut and wrap paper around it then it's euclidean. Euclidean space has 0 curvature and is also referred to as "flat". Some speculate the universe is "flat" although some believe it to be spherical (think a 3D surface of a 4D object) Spherical is stuff like balls, where the surface is obviously curved, even if you tried wrapping it with paper, it would still look awkward no matter how hard you tried. Spherical is positive curvature and one obvious example is the surface of the earth. Hyperbolic is hard to explain but it's kind of the opposite of a sphere. It has negative curvature. (look it up if you are still confused bc I can't really describe it, the closest thing I can think of is like a horse saddle)

in the config files, you can change the chunk load radius having it set really high can take forever the chunk loading is for long-distance portal connections
I always thought the //copy command worked based on you position when copying the build, so if you're in front of the build, it pastes it with you in front of the copy, if you're in back, then it pasted it with you in back.

protip: press F3+B to show the hitboxes of portals, which makes it easier to manage them. also, each portal made with portal helper blocks are actually 4 portals, 2 on each side of each frame
How about a house that is nested inside itself, so that if you go down enough layers, it leads back to the exit, with other layers acting like different rooms?

The chunk loading thingy was the same thing it does when you make a nether portal so maybe the game thought it was a nether portal but also knew it wasn't so it was loading nether chunks and overworld chunks.
i think he turned up the distance that portals will detect for each other, so it has to load a whole bunch of chunks to check for portal frames. so if he turns it down it doesnt have to search for all those chunks
I dont know alot but i think the chunks where loading so it can find the other portal and make sure its loaded, its a good thing and just happens so it does not lag and break everything

The chunk loading is the loading of the portal to make sure it wont break your game and lag. So it was not a bad thing it was for your portal to load.

You could build the second house underground or up at build height. Underground doesn't need portals to hide it and it can work in any world
