Oh god, the exact same thing happened to me once! And I wasn't even in cosplay, it was my everyday shoes, because it was the second day of con and I only cosplayed the first day.

@@mud616 It could be hyperbole for most, but people put a lot of time, money, and effort into their costumes and props. It sucks and can feel embarrassing to have your stuff fall apart, and cosplay repair mom makes sure people who were excited to show off their work still can. In a different environment, this could be a car at a rally or a guitar on a gig. It's hard to race without all your spark plugs or only half of your strings. Repair techs are always needed in any performance environment.
Literally the example of not all heroes wear capes. This mom deserves an award, or at least free parking and a close parking spot for additional supplies 😅

I don’t even cosplay but seeing this makes me so happy. I imagine that if your prop broke or something and you saw her, your mood would shift instantly from disappointed to hopeful, and with her help you would end up feeling amazing and confident again! What a lovely person
I remember when I went to my first convention, and I went all out cosplaying Riz Gukgak with green body paint. But after eating lunch, my dark green lipstick was completely gone, and I forgot to bring it. There was a whole ass booth station FILLED with Nurse Joy cosplayers just fixing cosplays all day. I remember sitting next to a Mirko cosplayer that was having her wig detangled while someone fixed my lipstick :)
Okay, a Nurse Joy cosplayer fixing people's outfits is next level. I would totally pay a Nurse Joy cosplayer $20 USD to bow and say "Your Pokémon is fighting fit!"
That is freakin adorable... can't imagine spending so much time to make a cosplay then to be out of town at a con and your costume breaks to have access to something to fix it would be a game changer
Honestly, I’m so excited to see someone not only having a repair kit, but advertising it to be able to help. I used to carry something similar on con days where I didn’t dress up (or could incorporate it). My friends used to call mine my “oh sh!t bag” because chances are if something happened to make you say it, I had a solution. Anything from cosplay/outfit malfunctions, touch ups, to gum/mints, usually some granola bars, to minor first aid, up to and including sterile suture kits (mainly left there from camping).

They usually teased me about carrying rocks; but I was always the first one they turned to when they needed something because I always brought everything they could possibly need or imagine to solve something. 😂
We had "cosplay nurses" at one of the cons I went to. They dressed as nurse joy, had a sign to help people with repairs too. There was like 5 of them as a group
I can imagine a TF2 cosplayer having their costume break and shouting “MEDIC!” at one of these people. All jokes aside, this person and everyone like her are absolute saints.
At a Con I used to go to there was group that set a booth called “The Cospital” and you could go to them for free help repairing your cosplay during the con. When I was brand new to cosplay they were so sweet. I had used the wrong kind of Velcro on my Wonder Woman shinguards and they weren’t staying on. They fixed me up and taught me what to look for in the store.
My mom is not the best mom but she got into anime for me and my sister. She'd help me put together homemade costumes which sometimes included sowing. I can tell you: wearing something I put together with my mom was a great memory. I even cosplayed as Aerith once and when there was rumors around the con of a bunch of Sephiroths doing photos, she went to make sure it was safe for me to go downstairs because I had a goal to not get RPed killed. 😂
reminds me of my German Teacher in high school she was a walking pharmacy if you needed something for pain or headaches ect she'd have it she has a Son so she was always prepared helped me a lot too :0 im Autoimmune she'd always be like take this XD

After she said ponytails, I was wondering if she had Bobby pins and then she said "Bobby pins" It's as if she read my mind and it kinda scared me ngl 😅

I’ve seen some cons have a cosplay ER which is fantastic but I always love seeing the individuals who are kind and generous enough to help out with their own skills and supplies. Cosplay repair parents (re-pairents?) are the backbones of any convention and dearly appreciated for their service to the attendees.

I guess he's technically still my kid even if he's not on the Will anymore so I still gotta count him..." I kid, of course. There's a number of possible reasons why she had to make that correction. Maybe she was only counting the two that cosplay but then realized that she worded it as how many children she had total rather than how many cosplay so she had to backpedal. Maybe the third kid was a recent adoption or stepchild and she wasn't used to counting them yet. That being said, while I don't actually believe in it, the version of events where she just straight up forgot about the existence of one of her children is the funniest to me and so that's the version that I'm sticking with.

WHERE WAS SHE WHEN I NEEDED HER! I was at a convention last year. Me and my friend match every time so that time they picked who we cosplayed. I was Velvet and they were Veneer from Trolls 3. It was our first time doing a cosplay contest…5 minutes before I went on stage with my friend my headpiece broke! I had no glue! No nothing to fix it! I asked a group of people if they had something but they didn’t! They had everything but glue or saftey pins! It was fixed before the contest but it was so scary that it broke right before! Since then I started packing hot glue, safety pins, a sewing kit, hair ties, hair spray, extra make up if I need it, duck tape, and my dreams TwT
As a fellow (rookie) cosplay repairman, this warms my heart big time. I can't do anything beyond local stuff at the moment, and I sometimes feel I'm not putting the same passion im repairing as the cosplayers here put into creating, but it feels awesome seeing people appreciate it. Had a cosplay repair person glue my SHOES together after they decided to fall apart halfway through con. Absolute lifesaver.
