Olly... a dump trailer is only ever going to be a dump trailer, great in its own right but it’s only really for carting muck, soil etc. Why don’t you go with a conventional grain style trailer, hydraulic back door, heavy duty floor, big tyres, wouldn’t even have to be new, plenty good second hand ones about. Conventional trailer can haul anything, silage sides if you wanted to get on a contracting team etc, you’d have many more options with this kind of trailer than a new dump trailer..
Fare comment but it's down time stripping a silage trailer especially with limited staff , novelty at first, we used to build 3 silage trailers after grain storage, then strip for harvest making sure they are stored properly and not damaged, so a dump trailer ready to go is was always a time saver , trips to quarry, tree cutting, muck and the rest , handy to hire out to.
@@kevinroberts2014 yes all fair and valid points! I guess it’s really down to exactly what Olly needs, if a dump trailer is the job for the farm then grand, iv got an 11ton Bailey with a heavy duty floor in it, does absolutely everything
Hire one in to see if you like it first. Those high tip trailers can unstable on a wet muck heap bottom, the muck stops in till you get tipped well up!!!!!
Definitely go for the nc 14ton trailer. We've had one for 15 years and it gets used all the time for carting lots of stuff such as muck and gravel. They are bulletproof
Some sound advice there from Olly. The temptation to buy the biggest and best of everything is very strong these days. In my industry, the best advice that is most often dished out is 'a better camera will not make you a better camera operator'. A principle that is probably valid across all industries.
An NC314 dump trailer is definitely the way to go, ours is nearly 20 years old and has been used every year for gravel, dirt, and stones. They pull very well, and are very well built.
Don’t get dump trailer as grain trailer is more useful if you are going to do contracting, you could also get one with silage sides so you can go silaging to help a contractor.
@@OllysFarmLtd u should get a Richard western flatbed trailer aswell then u can keep. Ur Johnstone brothers trailers as ur float trailer. For ur animals to. Save switching. From float to flat
Have the trailer fitted with mudguards, dump trailers with no protection between the wheel and trailer body damage and rust quickly above the wheels a galvanised mudguard or plastic coat the steel above the wheels for protection. If your not able to store indoors a drain bung at the front to stop water holding is a great addition to stop the rust taking hold
dump trailers great only snag with them is if a normal trailer if overwieghted it will tip. A dump could struggle with soil/rubble with muck no problems. Out of the 3 trailers had 2 of them Baileys best and parts easy get
Dooley X-Pro dump trailers here in Ireland are as good as you’ll get, good stability flotation tyres, hardox floor and they look a much tidier and stronger trailer than any of the trailers you call dump trailers in England,
I would strongly recommend a Stuart trailer as they’re hard to beat they’ve even posted a video of them taken it to a granite quarry on their RUclips I would recommend you having a look at the vids they have put up on here
Olly I’m a new viewer here. Lovin the vids.. I’ve done a lot of hauling big rock and gravel and the NC Dump trailer is the best by a country mile. It’s built to last and you’ll have it for life.. it’s perfectly balanced for pulling. I often brought 16t with a 130hp landini and 110hp John Deere and no problems even in soft going especially the Deere she’d pull that trailer like a train! Also check out Cross engineering in co Kildare Ireland they make great muck spreaders!
I would recommend Bailey Dump Trailers. We have had a 16t filled with pig muck almost all the time for years, well built, tough as nails and nice to pull, and JCB yellow does look good on them (we had some flatbeds in yellow).
Hi olly I would definitely go for a chieftain 14 as well I have had one for 17 years and it lives in muck the hole time and still in really good nick strong built and really nice dump trailer and we use it for stone and soil and really heavy built for stone and soil
I would get the baily trailer i really like them but thats my opinion but we have the low tale gate bumper trailers as we can put a silo body on in the summer 😀
@@OllysFarmLtd hey ollie we have a zetor 9540 tractor realy reliable we have it 15 ish years and my dad added everything up and we only spent 1300 euros on it since we have it besides tyres
Stewart trailers will build any trailer to ur own requirements they have a full line of trailers to suit all applications . Give jim a call im sure theyd love to do a project with yourselves ul not beat them on quality and spec . Plus the trailer as i say will be built as u require it have a look on the stewart trailers website im sure ul get on very well with them .
Also with a dump trailer you have a shorter draw bar making it harder to do a sharp turn we have had to bang in steps so we don’t hit the trailer body and then when your trying to fill it up the much comes out be back
Give Andrew at AW trailers a ring and speak to him, will make anything to your spec, you will probably find it will be lighter than most so will carry more weight
Barford 16ton dump trailer. They are great trailers and not ridiculous price for fully commercial axels, air/hyd brake load sensor. They do have a hydraulic door but great trailer. Irish built so you know it good 😉. Have a look at Malpas tractors, just sold one from the Denbigh branch.
Hi Olly I would advise looking at Herron Engineering H2 dump trailers. We have one and they are absolutely fantastic! Built like a tank and painted to last. 10mm Hardox floor as standard.
That is our yellow HM trailer in the photo, nearby in Norfolk. 20t, hardox floor, air brakes & ABS, 580 flotations. Lovely trailer, good people to deal with. Does have an unresolved leak though.
I think looking into the cost/benefit of having a slurry pit on the farm is another option. Having to constantly load and cart the muck away just to have to do it again when when you want to spread it will add up over the years especially the time it takes to do all that.
Hm all the way we’ve got an 18t one and it’s one of the best trailers I’ve used Bailey are good but your just paying for the name but the hm is a wise choice
Also aw trailer is a good solid trailer and it’s a such nice green in person it amazing green and not bad on much stains had our dump trailer for over 10 years in our farm and it was brought second hand and you would be supporting a small company that is local to me
We went to a insurance yard went for a 18 tonne bailey suger beet trailer which had a bit of rust and some dents which doesn’t matter for a dump trailer
Great video Olly. I love the look of HM dumper the last one you was talking about. Great idea with the investment into cattle are you still going to be getting a muck spreader as it would really expand your contract enterprise. Keep up the great work
You should try drt trailers. As they make dump trailers. They are built in Yorkshire We have a drt flatbed and grain trailer they are very good quality and built to a high standard
Last week it was a grain trailer this week its a dump trailer what's it going to be next week

You should get a brougham mega dump and they'd suit you fairly well because your not moving boulders or anything
Definitely
Really good trailers especially the trip axles. Not sure if there's import taxes pushing up prices now.
Just get a normal grain trailer with all the extras on it
dump trailers great only snag with them is if a normal trailer if overwieghted it will tip. A dump could struggle with soil/rubble with muck no problems. Out of the 3 trailers had 2 of them Baileys best and parts easy get
We have a 20 tonne nc dump trailer and it's built like a tank very strong and sturdy and tows very nicely on soft rough ground and on road
Keep the ďump trailer dark green.👍🏻
McCauley trailers highly recommended
HM dump trailer in a similar colour to the richard western trailers. Would suit the farm
Ide recommended nc or red rock. Two very well built and sturdy trailers.
Beco Maxxim 260 would maybe be something for you, Beco is a company in the Netherlands, or maybe a Joskin KTP 22/50?
Try herron 15ton, great trailer and built real strong

Richard larrington would make you one, would be bombproof and out last any other manufacturers. 10x better than Bailey
NC, Herron, herbst , Bailey are the best get one with air and oil brakes
NC great job for road work but i dont like them for field work

Possibly a classic John Deere to restore and bring back to life at some point.
