We are required to submit plans each week through Google Classroom and instead of a word wall we are encouraged to use sound walls even in upper el. I would love to see a video strictly on your planning for the week.

I love using slides as an agenda for the week/day! Brilliant 🤩

In upper grades its more about common words used and compound words. I like that the words help them expand their vocabulary!

i do a spelling poster. When students need to spell a word they write it on a poster (anchor chart) and then I go and write it the correct way if they did spell it wrong. I've gotten to the point that students will go and spell it for their peers.

I work in a Public School and we are required to submit plans each week, including higher level questioning for each standard.

Same! We also have to indicate a modified version for differentiation.

I have a small word wall. I use the only bulletin board that I have in my room. I just put up the vocabulary that the students learn. I feel like it helps. Teaching 6th grade Ancient History, I see the need for spelling as well! 💜💜

No, we don't submit lesson plan. We plan after school on Thursday as a team (groups are divided into two one with the 8 students, the other with the 12 students/inclusive classroom). I don't have a word wall but a circle time wall.

You could have your students write the words in sharpie on index cards. I do this with my 3rd graders and then let them decorate their index cards. They refer to our makeshift word wall all the time! Probably because they have ownership over it.

Love the ownership part of it and def incorporating that in the classroom! I was thinking about assigning students to a word and there job would be to find the definition and share it with the class.

For your spelling tests, are they just random words your students have to memorize? Or are they words they can hear all the sounds in and then spell based on spelling patterns, interested to know how that works in upper grades if you aren’t teaching phonics! And also do you like the Amplify curriculum ??
