Hi man! Great reaction. Toundra a 4-piece band from Madrid, Spain. You've basically reacted to one of my favourite songs from them. I've seen them live 4 or 5 times and that's an unique experience in itself. They don't have vocals except in the song Espírita which has some backing vocals. I'd recommend you to listen to all of their albums, top tracks for me: Magreb, Zanzíbar, Bizancio, Ara Caeli, Kitsune, Oro Rojo, Tuareg, Mojave... Sorry, I just love these guys :D
This is post-rock, which is mostly an instrumental genre. The whole build-up and release thing is basically the defining characteristic of the genre. Most post-rock is pretty mellow, but these guys along with Russian Circles and If These Trees Could Talk can get pretty heavy.
Saw these guys in London a few years ago. They don't have a vocalist, no. They're great. You get a real vibe in the room. Just close your eyes and lose yourself to the music. Love'em!
Worth noting that post rock and post metal really utilize building up to crescendos as a core tool in the genre, so pausing those songs kinda breaks that sense much more so than most other music.
Toundra is the Underground post rock kings. Horribly underrated, but the best always are. I fucking can't stand how anytime post rock is spoken of its always that dog shit band russian circles hahaha, its like if RC is the pinnacle of the post rock you are listing to, you need to look around harder.
