If you had a fever that kept going up and down leading up to it, I'd say it was a really bad case of cellulitis, which can be cleared up with antibiotics in about 7-10 days.
Cellulitis is no joke. I hope that's not what it is. Praying for you!

Hope ur better soon brother and I had a insadent similar mine was knotted and they basically said cellulitis but still wasn't sure on my end it wind up going away after 10 days in hospital and week after being released
Erysipelas/cellulitis propably... So a bacterial skin infection, antibiotics needed propably i.v. for a few days and then orally
