This is a great explanation of why is important to understand the entire cycle behind the data (Afterwards, all the companies are now Data-Companies) and the processes around the data are becoming more critical every day. Thanks for sharing, Eric!

Very good, though I would suggest that any conversation about data management should include a discussion on data privacy. With specific regards to personal data, it's best to think of it as a _valuable_ that you and your systems are diligently protecting on behalf of the _owner_ , that is the person the data relates to. This will almost always mean some form of data obfuscation in all but the final migration. Data and interfaces, in my experience, often carry more development risk than everything else in the digital transformation combined. Great video.

I would have to disagree. Data privacy laws like GDPR and California requirements are killing innovation. If more such laws are implemented, then we will not be able to collect any information on customers. This will lead to data related nightmares that we see in healthcare, for example. IMO, US healthcare is so costly bc of regulations like HIPPA (sp). HIPPA makes it impossible for anyone to get information about their own health problems or keeps loved ones from providing healthcare to their friends or loved ones due to (horrible) privacy regulations. Also, other than PII, we do not need GDPR in US. Pls keep GDP R out of America and help increase GDP vs worrying about privacy. Anyway, this is my 2$ on the subject. Thanks
PS: Eric has done a fab job of explaining master data vs transactional data and other nuances🙂
