  • Ciao everyone! Today I am styling a pair of straight leg mid-rise vintage levis 10 ways. These looks are not ground-breaking but I am changing proportions and accessories to get more use out of the clothes I already have. I used closet staples to make new outfits out of old clothes - this is a great way to work with a capsule closet, stop impulse shopping, and use creativity instead of consumption!

That cannoli t-shirt wins at life. 🏆
Also, don't alter the jeans; alter your mindset. They look great on you. If it really makes that big of a difference, try a micro-cuff.
In comparison, jeans that *don't* cover my ankles annoy the living Hell out of me because my legs are long and I absolutely despise the proportions of anything cropped. If I wanted clam diggers, I'd have become a fisherman, LOL!

I'm 100% on your team Melody! Agree that full-length jeans or pants make long legs look even better. Cropped or shorter chop people off.

    • @melaniemcneil407
      @melaniemcneil407 9 месяцев назад +4

Agree. I'm not a fan of jeans cut above the ankle bone, on me or usually other people. I do occasionally roll the hem up an inch and a smidge, but I wouldn't buy them shorter on purpose.

Growing up I always had trouble finding jeans long enough. High waters were the bane of my teenage existence. Very occasionally I will wear ankle length jeans cuffed - beach or very casual wear only. At the age of 68 I’m still in that camp. Hate cropped pants. They’ll always be high waters to me, no matter what the current trend or my age. Full length pants - straight leg jeans especially - are my go to jeans.

Agree on the skinnies, but they didn’t look bad. What was more telling is that you looked uncomfortable with it. That said, I loved the jeans tucked into the motor for a faux jogger vibe.

So timely, Alyssa, as I bought a pair of midrise vintage straight leg jeans recently, and the proportions look off to me with low heels. I agree that just a smidge off the hem to hit on the sweet spot of the ankle makes a world of difference, especially as I'm only 155cm tall. Thank you for confirming my initial impression 😅❤

First, they look fabulous on you. Second, I have been wearing vintage denim all my life because next birthday is 70, eek. Being 5'1" I have almost always had to shorten my jeans or they would no way work. Have made many bags and purses with the off cuts. The trick is to preserve the original hem. For this you need a good tailor or a great you tube video. Never be dominated by your clothes. You are such a beauty, you rule your style well. 🌺🌼🏵

Fun video, it’s always interesting to see your proceess. So I have a pair second hand, black straight-legged Levis, not sure if they are vintage or 501s, and i also struggle with them, but I love the fit! They need to be hemmed but i haven’t decided to which length yet. Last nigh I wored them tucked into a high boot with a block heel and I fo7nd I had to just wrap the excess fabric around my legs to avoid bunching and lumpy boots. I love how they turned out! I no longer wear heels like ever, but i do have a pair of black ankle booties with a wedge heel that i think would work, and maybe that’s the hem length I need.

I have been on the search and have tried so many jeans over many years and have realized one or two pair of premium denim is the way to go but need some advice on a great brand for straight leg. What would be your top picks for straight leg? I'm 5'7' and 135-140 pounds, inverted triangle so my shoulders are wider than my hips and I have long legs so petite doesn't work. What about folding them up to under the knee outside a high boot, maybe with a heel? I remember stylish friends of my mum used to that in the seventies, and I want to do that too. But my jeans are either to narrow or to wide to do it nicely. Maybe it works with those jeans? And a wide blouse, tunic or sweather outside the jeans?

Loved the 505 Jean with all the higher heels, arguably the slightly longer then current trend and higher heel was more balanced on your frame overall - very chic.
The tucked in styles did not work as well, in my opinion , excepting number 8 where the all black looked kinda dangerous and great (without denim jacket). Loved the long voluminous pale coat and the Jean. Please don't shorten - you are not short of jeans (no pun intended😂), silhouettes change and classics ain't classics for no reason ..😎thanks for a great video!

LOOK #8 is my fave --without the denim jacket, plain and with the vest. I LOVE those boots. Where did you get them please?

Great video Alyssa, footwear always gives me trouble with denim. Although, I love the tall knee-high boot with heel. What brand are they?❤

How can I find out where you purchased some of your outfit pieces. This was very helpful. Thank you!

I have been debating on whether to add a black jean. Do you feel it is replacing the dark wash? These suggestions of course would work for any jean. Awesome!

The footwear also gets me stuck with straight leg jeans with a length like this. How would you team sneakers with this exact jean, especially when travelling and you need comfy walking shoes?
