In this video, I create a stag head from silicon bronze. The process involves hammering flat sheets of bronze into shape, hence the term, beaten bronze. The antlers are actually made of steel, just to provide a bit of contrast. Many individual pieces are shaped which are then welded together to create the final shape.

A fish a deer and a Thak walk into a bar. Fish says Thak is the deer drunk? Thak says no he's hammered
clever
Hahaha!
A fish, a deer and a Thak walk into a bar. What's the first thing Thak does? Make a bolt for the door.
It never ceases to amaze me what Thak can do with metal
I respect a talented craftsman as yourself who shares all his secrets with the world as you do.
I have one complaint however. Your teachings have led me to build a gas forge, silence my anvil, get even more hammers, make a crap load of chisels, Fuller's and now tongs...where does it end??
Thak, you are the best!
Respect
it never ends
Impressive work, your client will definitely be happy.
A Fish, a deer and a Thak walk into a bar. Stop me if you've HERD this one !🤣😂
That deer head is gorgeous
Awesome work! I love when you get into the details of why you go about forming things in different ways, and the other ways you could have gone about it, especially when you use multiple different methods and tools on the same project like this.
Fantastic video! Nice to see a fully polished end result, too.
A Fish, a deer and a Thak walk into a bar. While everyone else holds ice packs to their heads, Thak gets out his cutting torch.
Absolutely and insanely gorgeous work ! You keep upping your game. Most folks don't realize the time it takes to craft something of this caliber and then they balk at the cost.
As for the punchline..... i got nothin !
Wow
Great work!
From flat sheet stock, to something amazing.
You always wear the coolest shirts!
that is really cool, looks more realistic than most faux or metal heads you see in bougie home furniture stores ive ever seen. a brass bull would be a cool one to see, would be a challenging and some what disturbing project but the history/legend is interesting and fits well with greek armour series youve done.
I'd love to see that too, it's only disturbing if he makes a chamber inside to hold people, lol
What you can do with a sheet of flat stock is amazing. If I was Fish I would be terrified..
Wow, where did you get that? The bartender asked.
In the magic forest the deer said
I'm guessing this commission will make you a few bucks. Oh, deer, did I just really make a bad joke? My bad. I'd better stick with real life and just agree that a gravity defying large rack makes a memorable sculpture. A few old masters definitely got that right and achieved immortality.
Thak is simply amazing. Thank you for this video.
That's so metal.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
I make. From glass, metal, wood, bone, and whatever. Metal and glass are my passions. Polymorphic additive subtractive sculpture.
Thank you for a masters class in sculpture. Enough detail to go make one's own mistakes.
Rock on!
Bacon fingers lol
Awesome work man 👍
The stud is buying I mean the stag is buying!
This one kept me on the edge of my seat, every step I was wondering what you were gonna do or how you were gonna pull it off. The end product was more amazing than I imagined, not that I ever doubted it would be.
Wonderful stag! I have been curious about the welding of bronze or brass as I don’t see anyone else doing it online and here you are! Wonder if we could get a video about how that works too between different materials. Ok here goes the joke:
A fish, a deer and a thak walk into a bar,
The fish orders a water,
The deer orders a Moscow mule but can’t find his doe,
Thak says I can come up with the doe but I’m going to need a few more Moscow mules and the fish out of water to finish her up!
Not bad
@@ThakIronworks I'll just have a boilermaker thanks 😉
@@ThakIronworks 🙏thanks, It was off the top. But I believe it makes one think 🤔I’m not the best at jokes but I can be fun at parties with the proper amount of alcohol all the same 🤣🤣🤣
@@Moondog-wc4vm that’s a good play on words too! 👌
@@kizzledizzle Ok 😉 You've tempted me into acting silly 😄 A fish, A deer, A Thak and a Kai walk into a bar. The barman says ' What is this? Some kind of joke?' I'll just order a taxi home now. That's more than enough alcohol for one week.
Been watching for years and by far your best effort yet. You are a superb craftsman and artist. Wonderful result.Just wonderful.
Thank you very much!
Thank you for sharing. Beautiful work 👍
How the Heck did you ever learn these techniques. Amazing!!! Saskatchewan has some nice big racks on the deer. Hanson buck is one. Check out Ilya at That Works and the Buckler he makes. The Respósse is breathtaking. 👍👍
Holy crap!
You are one very talented man!!!!
Amazing work Thak! You are an inspiration and I truly respect and appreciate all your content. I am always excited for an upload!
Thats an incredibly difficult thing to make, there are just so many undercuts and recurves before you even consider the anatomy. Thats very mentally taxing and I applaud your ability to get through that grinding last 20%
Thank you sir!
Outstanding Craftsmanship!
When you first mentioned using a chrome trailer ball for the eyes, I thought it would look cheesy and cheep, but when you installed them, I was flat amazed how lifelike it looked! Amazing work all around, you are doing a puzzle while making each piece from scratch!
At 12 minutes in. I'm blown away by those antlers .. they look incredible Thak. Excellent work.. I can see how much metal work is truly a passion and love affair for you. I'm still waiting on that video outlining your favorite metal bands or bands in general. I play drums and favor Dream Theater but ii love so much more. Jason Becker, Jeff Loomis and nevermore Pantera tool pink Floyd origin death and control denied strapping young lad steve Vai tony macalpine Paul Gilbert and on and on and on. Anubis gate voyager hemina(moonlight bride is a badass song) do you play any instruments? Love to hear how you got into this field. Keep up the good work.
A deer, a Fish and a Thak walk into a bar that's along a very trafficked road, by drivers and animals alike.
The bartender bends over the counter, opens his eyes wide and exclaims: "I'm used to seeing hammered guys walk into the bar and looking like fish out of water after having run over some deer that was crossing the road in that moment, but it's the first time I witness a hammered DEER being carried inside by a guy AND A FISH, literally!"
Joke aside, I'm always marvelled at seeing what your mind and hands can create!
P.S. keep rocking that t-shirt collection! 🤘🏻
very awesome.
Absolutely amazing.
Meisterlich!
I would love to ask you the price, but I respect your privacy. beautiful work.
If he didn't get at least 20K that buyer should be grinning like a Cheshire cat.
way to cool
with that I would start a hotline for does, for rutting season
Are the antlers carbon or are you shooting everduer?
How much did you sell the sculpture for? I've never seen a pitch board before how do you make those?
And after a leisurely afternoon of libations, the bar tender asked who gets the tab? That ended up getting stuck with paying since the fish had no pockets and the deer had no doe.
Not bad
a deer, a fish and thak walk into a bar as they walk in they see a girl sitting at the bar crying the fish asks whats wrong, the girl crys 'my boyfriend cheated on me', the stag hugs her cairing deerly, the fish buys her a drink to drown her sorrows but thak he just walks out so the stag asks where hes going because they cant just leave her and thak replies 'i dont give a thak'. im sorry i did the best i could
an honest attempt
