Crochet Summer Top
Yarn : Fine weight or DK weight
Hook : 4.50mm
Multiple of 5 +3
Chain 35 + 3 (38)
Row 1 : 37 sc (start from 2nd chain from hook)
Row 2 : chain 2 (count as sts count), * 1 dc next sts, skip 1 sts, shell sts, (2 dc, chain 1, 2 dc), skip 1 sts, 1 dc * , repeat to until 1 have 2 sts left, 1 dc.
Row 3 : chain 2, 1 dc next sts, shell sts (in shell chain 1 from previous row), 2 dc, * shell sts, 2 dc , repeat *to till end
Row 4-6 : repeat row 3
Row 7 : chain 2, 1 dc next sts, shell sts (3 dc, chain 1, 3 dc), 2 dc, * shell sts, 2 dc , repeat *to till end
Row 8-11 : repeat row 7
Row 12 : chain 2, 1 dc next sts, * chain 1, shell sts (3 dc, chain 1, 3 dc), chain 1, 2 dc , repeat *to till end
Row 13-24 : repeat row 12
Row 25 : chain 2, 1 dc next sts, * chain 1, shell sts (8 dc), chain 1, 2 dc*, repeat to till end
Chain 1 & cut yarn
Chain 45, 37 sc across the top, chain 45
crochet both pieces together starting from row 8 till row 25.

I know I’m challenged but I wish I could find just one single simple crochet top I could actually make. I have been crocheting 45+ years but never made sweaters before. It has taken me 2 years to be able to make sweaters including top down. Don’t give up! Once you get the hang of it, it’s a lot of fun!!

This is very pretty, thanks. Is the beginning chain half the bust measurement ? So I chain enough to fit from 1 underarm to the other right, as long as it is a multiple of 5 plus 3 ?

I really like this top. Please, can I make this with cotton yarn? Or a cotton blend would also be nice for me. Acrylic makes me sweat too much. If so, what brand cotton do you suggest..a soft cotton. Thank you. 🌼😊
Hi Jamie. Yes you can absolutely use cotton yarn or cotton blend yarn. I love Gazzal baby cotton yarn, it is 60% cotton and 40% acrylic.

How would one make an XL for this top. I am a 46" bust biggest part of chest around.

how any chains do i do for a small size
Dorothy Toman she said this is a med-large for her and she made 35 chain+3 of course, so for small I personally would do 20-25 and if possible measure the upper chest of the child or small person it’s for, measure the 20 or 25 chain on them or measure their chest with measuring tape and do it that way. I hope I made sense!💜
