I did a few weeks ago when my gf thought it was weird my loading screen had an orange seaplane saying "Shouldn't it be green?". We then checked her loading screen and it was green, then we noticed the planes actually matched and so did the airports.
I didn't even know the airports had different colours until my boyfriend pointed it out when he visited my island. No wonder he was so jealous I had a white vending machine and he couldn't get one. Orange gang rise up
M L this is the first time i heard about features like this for an animal crossing game. this whole “social” part of animal crossing is really new and i hope they do something to fix it. the older ones you could just play on your own and you could access everything. it sort of ruins the experience if you’re not into online play, and tbh this looks like another case of nintendo wanting you to play exactly the way they want you to with no negotiations or even considering that some people aren’t going to use the online features.
Jess idk, i still have a problem with that because in that case, you aren’t getting the full experience in any of your playthroughs if you don’t have an internet connection. add to that the fact that there are tons of furniture pieces missing from new leaf and you get one of the most boring catalogues in any animal crossing game up to date.

YES i have the pastel teacup ride, the pink springy ride on, the lighthouse w red, red telephone booth, and the white lifeguard tower/turquoise porta potty & i just feel like those are the color those things should be...
My airport is green. Then there is a pink drink machine, blueish portable toilet, black cotton candy stand, yellow lighthouse and if you look at it the rest is pretty self explanatory
Wow, I never realized just how lucky I got with my setup! With a Yellow airport I get a black vending machine, then I got the set that has the black soda machine AND the set with the black telephone box! The fact that all of these things match so well is a huge surprise considering all of the possible combinations!
What really sucks about this is, yeah, sure, you can trade these items with people, but if you need a ton of a particular one like say streetlamps (my personal problem), it's an utter pain to get someone to spend the Nook Miles to give them to you. Maybe it'd be less of a pain if I could determine exactly how many I need, but like...why can't the alternates just be added to your catalogue & be orderable the same way regular items are? Even if I still had to pay Nook Miles for the alts, at least then you'd only have to get ONE from somebody else!
It would be so much nicer if you could just catalogue the different colour varieties to get the different items! I hate how Nintendo continues to lock the colour types you can get in your own town... I’d say I hope they update it so you can catalogue them but I can not see that ever happening 😞

That's just how animal crossing works. It adds some uniqueness to every game and makes loading up a new game exciting. Same way you can't choose your villagers. If they wanted it to be like every other game out there where you can customize every aspect of it and choose the best things to start with then they would have made it that way.

What makes me absolutely insane is that you can’t customize the nook mikes items. I’m literally stuck with ugly red and brown garbage until I can trade but miles are harder to get than money so it’s difficult to find someone to trade. Like why limit us???? I don’t understand.
What I would recommend is try and go to a Facebook group or a discord server and ask for the stuff that you need, some would ask for tips or they could ask for something in return :)
The same construction sign is actually a picture of Mr Resetti and the other is his brother Don. It's a cute nod to the characters. I hope they get a bigger role in the game eventually.
They got rid of him as the save character not because of autosave but because he scared children. They used to have a warning about how he scares children on the old games. He used to make kids cry. I personally liked him 🤷 Pocket Camp uses him when they do updates and you can't access the app

I wish we could decide what color we could have, like we could talk to Tom nook about infrastructure and he has an option called customize a building, and you can customize each building, like in New Leaf with the town hall I also have a green airport

I've got the yellow airport, and while I'm not super fond of the miles items, I love that its one of the DAL colors, it fits well. I'd also heard that the airport color is determined by the question that Timmy and Tommy ask at the beginning, but never heard one way or another if that was confirmed true or false.
I think that would be a really cool secret thrown in by Nintendo, because in previous games the questions you were asked determined the outlook of your character for the whole game, so to still incorporate that theme makes me happy cause I thought it was gone for good with character customization. It's back, just with nook miles instead 😁

So do I. I hope it's something that changes because I don't want to worry about trading with people to get certain colors for items. Just let us customize them or choose the color. Same goes for furniture sets you can buy. Not a huge deal but annoying if you're someone not really into that sort of thing.

This was so helpful, I have an orange air port and was trying to customize my things, but I couldn't and I was very confused why! I think I got a pretty good set up (except the street lights I wanted the black ones) the funny thing is that I have every one you wanted, Except the phone booth and the horse.
Can you open your island so people can come buy it from you? I immediately tried to customize my phone box when I got customization and was so disappointed that I couldn't make my own T.A.R.D.I.S.

I was pretty lucky in a sense that I got orange airport (I don’t mind orange and love the white streetlamps) and my other combinations items are all the blue and yellow sets. They all fit together quite well. I wish I would have a different color light house though.
I’m so glad my airport is yellow, but my two best friends who play with me also have yellow airports, so we have limited ability to branch out and get new items.

I feel like I have one of the best overall island sets! Yellow airport , pink vending machine and yellow lighthouse, white lifeguard and playground, blue phone booth and white chairs and the yellow saddle spring ride on!!! They all match pretty well

My son points out the different airport colors every time we fly between islands and now I can put that info to use and also more easily hunt down other item vatiations knowing what groups friends should have! I got an orange air port with a white vending machine and white portable toilet and the zebra but I also got the blue benches which I don’t see on the combinations with the items I have 😂

here’s a thing, these are the things you can personally get from your own island- but a easy fix is to literally go on nookazon (ik it might be overpriced, but better than ugly combinations) that’s what i did anyways- but of course it’s all up to you guys, it’s just an obvious tip :)
It also changes the colours of the tools you can buy at Nook's Cranny when it is fully upgraded. I went to another island to buy some candies for Halloween the other day and noticed their "outdoorsy shovel" was pink instead of blue and I was like mindblown lmao
My island has: Orange airport, B&W lighthouse set, yellow and blue park bench with the yellow telephone booth and The “rainbow” playground (with the blue construction sign, and lifeguard chair) and lastly the red pony!

I think I got a pretty good set up (except the street lights I wanted the black ones) the funny thing is that I have every one you wanted, Except the phone booth and the horse.
Omg we have Reese and Cyrus now they are AMAZING, you can change the color of all these items to any one you want and it’s pretty cheap to do so too

I think the color of you’re airport is decided by the question “If you were stuck in an island what would you bring?”.
I thought that too, but it doesn’t. I’ve reset multiple times and always chose “Bring a sleeping bag” and ended up with each version of the airport //:

@@alexapjm I always thought it had to do with the flowers. Because I always got mums, and one time I changed my option from "sleeping bag" to I think "something to do" and my island had roses. But then I chose "sleeping bag" for my last reset, and ended up with lilies... lol
I thought it had to do with what furniture you started out with. I chose “something to entertain myself” and I got a radio . Idk wha other people got though.

I was pretty lucky in a sense that I got orange airport (I don’t mind orange and love the white streetlamps) and my other combinations items are all the blue and yellow sets. They all fit together quite well. I wish I would have a different color light house though.

I feel like I have one of the best overall island sets! Yellow airport , pink vending machine and yellow lighthouse, white lifeguard and playground, blue phone booth and white chairs and the yellow saddle spring ride on!!! They all match pretty well
I never even noticed that my friends had different colored airports, but I did notice that their nook miles items were different colors.
I have the green airport, and looking at that table thing made me look at the other teacups and cringe

I got an orange air port with a white vending machine and white portable toilet and the zebra but I also got the blue benches which I don’t see on the combinations with the items I have 😂

here’s a thing, these are the things you can personally get from your own island- but a easy fix is to literally go on nookazon (ik it might be overpriced, but better than ugly combinations) that’s what i did anyways- but of course it’s all up to you guys, it’s just an obvious tip :)

It also changes the colours of the tools you can buy at Nook's Cranny when it is fully upgraded. I went to another island to buy some candies for Halloween the other day and noticed their "outdoorsy shovel" was pink instead of blue and I was like mindblown lmao
