Dave Cousins was a Managing Director of several radio stations and ran a market research company which explains the 1980s and 1990s hiatus. Hero & Heroine was voted 34 best prog album in Rolling Stones top 50 prog albums. Bursting at the Seams was a number 2 album, Grave New World number 11...it was the first ever triple gatefold!! You should try Ghosts 1975...
Their recent years albums are spectacular paritcularly "The Ferryman" and "Settlement". I do rate "Deadlines", 'Ghosts", "At the Seams", "Hero & Heroine" very high. A great wonderful band that never got the massive deserved recognition.
I was a rock fan in the late 60s and 70s, yet on occasion I would play The Shepherds Song from The Witchwood album, it provided a nice contrast and had a mystical feel to it. That song and the title track got a huge amount of air time on Radio 1's Sounds of the 70s and In Concert.. Like you my tastes have moved on and I would not sit and play any of their old albums now except in 2017 they released an album called The Ferryman’s Curse which I occasionally listen to and enjoy.
Haha... yes, I guess you're right, but, like Eldon Tyrell I'm keen to see negatives alongside positives... I don't mind Wishbone Ash, I just find them a bit overrated... thanks for watching...
Thank you for taking my comment so well! I agree that many listings/review channels are somewhat fawning and predictable. I don't agree with your ranking of the Strawbs albums - in particular the omission of 'Ghosts' and 'Nomadness', but happily agree that 'Grave New World' is the most complete and satisfying LP.
Thanks a lot, very interesting. Loved this era of music 😊
Strawbs are a great old British band they gave us both Rick Wakeman and Sandy Denny. Thanks for the post.
Ghosts is a wonderful prog album by Strawbs
ABSOLUTELY! Brilliant!! 'Latter' Strawbs were my favourite.
Agreed 100% !

"Ferryman" stands among their best
@@Luileadolfo So glad someone else appreciates this album
And Ghosts???
Oh dear! Why did you bother if you couldn’t find anything more interesting to say? As 10cc might say: “list for list’s sake”.
