Thanks for the review and recommendations. Finally was able to snag the 55" from BB for $599. appears to be the last one within 250 miles of us. Just set it up and it looks amazing. Thanks again and keep up the good work.
I tried your calibrations settings on mine and it still doesn't look good. I don't suppose you could help me with calibration settings when using the TV as a monitor?
Thoughts and settings on the Hisense 75U8H. I want to thank the reviewer for their time and effort in creating the reviews for this model series. So I’ve been living with my Hisense 75U8H for about a month now, and I wanted to share my thoughts and settings for those that may find it useful in some way. I’m not a gamer so there won’t be anything related to that. I’m fortunate to have a light controlled environment and these settings are mainly based on that, with most viewing done at night and with the ambient light kit also recommended by another reviewer. The quality is everything that has been said about this model series, including the black levels truly approaching oled territory, with virtually no noticeable blooming. I was concerned at first with the flesh tones, as no matter the source or material, it exhibited an awful pinkish/magenta-ish/sunburned hue, and the greens seemed to narrow themselves down to one dark green color for everything. Played with every setting to no avail. So I reset back to ground zero and pulled out my ancient AVSHD disc and carefully proceeded. So after putting a bunch of hours on the set( yes, they do break-in), and tweaking everything for the different sources and inputs, the color finally started to settle in. The flesh tones are now 90 to 95 percent accurate, yellows and golds and browns look like they’re supposed to without any tint leaning in one direction or another, and the greens now have the variation you would expect to see in a mixed scene of trees and grass, etc. The following are the settings based on a wide variety of material on all the sources, and in setting the backlight, contrast and local dimming so it doesn’t melt my retinas, but still has a good level of ”kick” and dynamic range. Of particular note is my go-to reference disc of The Fifth Element (the good pressing), because it has such a wide variety of colors and levels of saturation, which makes it challenging to reproduce accurately. Filmmaker Mode was the starting point where applicable for SDR. HDR is kind of all over the place in terms of settings, for me at least. When HDR is flagged, the three default choices that you’re given work for some things but not all, so I’ve had to tweak things based on the particular content being viewed. Again, personal taste and the room it’s being viewed in. Also, since the Dolby Vision issue has not been fixed at this point, I used the “Custom” mode to tweak that in. The bottom line is, I feel these are all good starting points before a “real” calibration, but each person has their own taste and preferences, so of course, feel free to tweak-away! UPDATE: Netflix DV may indeed work via external streamer (it worked today when I tested it again). The internal Netflix DV is still not showing properly but from an external streamer it is working - I expect more consistency from all sources once Hisense figures it out in a firmware update.
@@asafblasbergvideographer I have this TV & Apple 4K TV & I can confirm it works flawlessly - in the top right-hand corner you will get a Dolby Vision pop up and when it detects Dolby Atmos you will get a pop up as well
Really liked this video. I bought a 50" Samsung plasma in 2003 and am still using it today. In a couple months it turns 20 years old. It still works great. Not one issue but I finally felt like it was time. After doing the research I decided on this TV. Just purchased it. It'll be here Thanksgiving weekend. Thanks for helping me decide.
I'm watching this review on my 2020 Hisense 65Q8G. I paid 1000 and I'm very happy with it. It's been flawless in performance and the picture is excellent. It does have a fair bit of blooming and some motion detection issues at times but for most day to day watching it's great. I have quite a few 4K movies on my NAS and with PLEX installed it plays them all with full surround decoding. I was thinking about the Q800 as I just got the HWG990B soundbar as replacement for my 950Q from dealer as it had some technical issues. To my surprise I was able to decode Atmos from Prime. I'll definitely be looking at this as soon as it's available. Thanks.
This was actually a very fare review. You need to do more content like this. And you did i it with full disclosure about Hisense lending yku the unit and not having a filtered review. Good job.
Son and I set up my new U8H today. Wasn't too hard. Updated, taken out of economy mode and enjoying the Packer/Cowboys game tonight. Looks great so far.
I've had this thing for a month at $949 from Amazon. Incredible value. I had a Samsung 7000 before. Obviously the picture on this U8H is far and away better than the 7000, but the big surprise is how much snappier and reliable the "smart" part of the TV is. Samsung has been making Tyzen for like ten years and they're beat by Hisense hands down. Sad.
actually bought the U8H in 75 inch for $1500 from amazon ..is hard to get that TV in stock , but i saw TCL just released the 85 inch mini led 85R655 with some few new feathers for only $2000, cancel the 75 U8H & bought that NEW 85 inch TCL instead, cant wait to receive it is just released few days ago & only BESTBUY carries it for now
@WorkInProgress My God, I don't know why people likes Roku ,. Roku got same interface since 2005 so old-fashion & boring, loves Google TV , since I"m google user
I already have an OLED that I LOVE in my darker office for gaming, movies, Everything. That said, I wanted something with high brightness and great blacks for the living room. It came down to Samsung's top of line OLEDs and the Hisense U8H. For me, they look very close and for the money... it wasn't even close. I just picked one of these up and cannot wait to test it out. I'll keep you posted on my opinion. I guess if I don't like it Hisense is giving my over a quarter of a year to return it. I just don't know how anyone could lose given all of this. Again, I'm salivating for it. The fact that I won't have to worry about burning in my OLED anymore bc gaming is so good on the U8H too means I can balance my gaming load and I need to stop gabbing bc I'm too excited... lol
Did you notice the Netflix Dolby vision issue? They said it was fixed now but it's unclear if they fixed it completely. I take it you have no upscaling issues? Don't notice stutter at all?
The u8h is right there with the q90b. Both are easily the best led TVs on the market. This wasn’t the best years for led TVs but there are some good ones like lgs qneds are much improved as well as the q85b. You have mini led ips panels just looking amazing. Sonys leds are the same mediocre releases. Need a bright beautiful tv with great performance the u8h is a killer!
For all who have a voice synced issue when using a sound bar. Just go to audio and select to turn EARC to ARC. Then switch it to pass through. It fixes everything
@@stopthefomo it was driving me crazy. I was terrible when using the ps5. It was slightly annoying using the Google UI. But this fixed everything. I am so happy with it. The color and clarity of this tv is insane
Great review, love your style, cadence and clarity. Thank you and I look forward to trying out the U8H when it arrives this week! Keep up the great work.
Other than mini LEDs which gives UH8 more nits and therefore a brighter screen the UH7 is a better choice, there’s more UH7 manufactured than UH8 therefore the kinks are discovered and ironed out.
What do you mean by reliability? The TV just sits in the shelf. Thank God, but my whole life I never had tv issues. Why do people do? Also where and how can I learn to celebrate it? Which company do you use for calibration? Cost? Would calibration lower the reliability over time?
I have the US version of U8H 65". It is a great TV with great sound and image quality if you adjust it to taste. The only image quality issue is banding in smooth gradients like uniform skies. Black levels are near OLED pure black and the highlights are super bright! I have not noticed any obvious blooming yet and I'm actively looking!
Hisense are a scummy brand here in the U.K, the U8H here is a vastly inferior tv than the U.S version, a completely nerfed panel. They need to be prevented from selling tv's in the U.K, calling a tv the same but it's completely different, is scummy to say the least.
Great review and I've been eyeing the u8h for a while. But I can't see paying a pro calibrator hundreds more to calibrate, so wishing at some point you could do a video on best basic settings for streaming movies and blu ray discs in sdr and hdr. I used your recommended settings for my TCL Roku 2020 6 series and very satisfied fwiw, i.e. motion set to low, HDR dark, etc., thank you.
The U8H is color accurate out of the box. In fact, it's the most color accurate tv out of the box than any high end TV released this year. NOTHING beats it. Only settings that need changing is the default energy savings mode, light sensor, and then turn local dimming to high. That's it! Professional level calibration done and done. Just switch to theater day or night mode, turn off automatic light sensor, and set local dimming to high. Then you have one of the most color accurate TVs in the market!
@@RydarGames actually bought the U8H in 75 inch for $1500 from amazon ..is hard to get that TV in stock , but i saw TCL just released the 85 inch mini led 85R655 with some few new feathers for only $2000, cancel the 75 U8H & bought that NEW 85 inch TCL instead u cant beat the PRICE in size & mini led feather under 2 grand no wayyy , cant wait to receive it is just released few days ago & only BESTBUY carries it for now, to me both the TVS is the same TCL just brighter in HDR & better in Dolby vision
Hi FOMO, greetings from Australia. 🇦🇺 Thx so much for your reviews, opinions and advice in general. I love your passion and knowledge. I also wish to say thx for alerting us to the fact that the EU model while having the same name is a different TV to the US version. 👏👏 Most American reviewers have failed to mention this fact this year. Unfortunately we had that situation in Australia last year but the good news is that this has been corrected and now the Aussie version is U8HAU. Unfortunately Hisence AUSTRALIA refuse to release specifications such as panel type or dimming zone numbers, which I find infuriating. We also lack many Australian reviewers so buying a Hisense TV entails a lot of guess work. While I own a 2019 Hisense R8 now, (great value TV, ) I will not be buying a Hisense in the future unless more details are released. Generally we seem to get a similar TV to the EU. I will continue to be a willing subscriber, pls keep up the great work. Cheers. 🍻👍
Hi. Last yrs U8GAU looked ordinary instore, however i was not only surprised by the U8HAU instore i was impressed so im wondering what that means. Theyre either using a VA panel which is odd if the UK version is using IPS, or the local dimming of the tv allows for a very high dynamic contrast ratio. Samsungs Q85B is IPS/ADS, yet looks about as good as the QN90B. Are you able to go instore and view the U8HAU and report back.
Likewise, I won't be buying our local Singapore version of the U8H. IPS panel, ViDAA OS, missing subwoofer, 1/4 of the US's version of FALD zones, at a higher price than the US version. Worst of all, they're still calling it the U8H. At least UK calls it the U8HQ. What a scam!
@@R6ex damn, that's horrible, and a disturbing bait and switch, granted I still have to account for the impressive image I saw back here in Australia. I should check whether they've also removed the subwoofer, granted I never expect much from TV speakers.
Fomo, all this hype for the U8H had me doubting my 65" LG C2 purchase @ $1799 tax included. It's shipping now(for a dark man room). So I scraped together $ and grabbed a 55" U8H from Amazon (shipping in mid October) for a Bright family room. I'll let you know my thoughts when I've got both sets to compare.
I’ll wait for your review…lol since I’m planning on going this route towards the end of this year as the prices drop to their lowest & next year’s models start replacing store inventory. Hopefully I can then go 77” on a C2 or G2 (or other top choice, will depend on availability) for the media room, and the 55” U8H for the living room (max my entertainment center can hold anyways ((well 59” but doesn’t exist))
I had a Hisense 55H8C that was dirt cheap and 4k. It lasted 3 years and the panel went out. They did honor the first year in the US 4 year warranty and sent me a 55H8F to replace it. I replaced it with a 65 825 TCL mini led set that I still have and love the picture. I would probably go with a TCL for a cheap set but it seems all the manufacturers have upped their games so it might hold up just fine. The blooming control of the TCL is almost perfect, but it crushes blacks a bit to do it.
Thank you for your work. I was planning to buy a LG C2 or the LG QNED91 but after watching your review, I am wondering if the 75" U9HAU is just as good for half the price of the LG models.
The problem with these panels in Canada is they're never on sale. But Sony pricing falls off a cliff. I can get an x95J 75" for $1050 USD here in Toronto. And X95K pricing will fall off a cliff in a few months too. This is on sites like Kijiji. So makes TVs like this a hard sell.
Can you comment on the U8H problem with stutter for Frame Hold Time @ 24 fps (34.1 ms) - test by RTINGS. This is Not judder, stutter is the jarring effect caused by static frame time during motion sequences. Is there a setting that minimizes this? I just ordered my U8H and we often watch streaming content that is older productions like Midsommer's Murders or Miss Marple, etc. I'd like to get the most out of the set. I have your recommended settings from another u-Tube. To recap - how bad is the stutter at 24 fps and what can be done about it? Thanks!
I see a lot of people, not only with this make of television but many, complaining about judder and what motion smoothing settings to use. The answer is none..no smoothing, no noise correction ..nothing. it's the apps, Blu-ray players ect that you are using. You need to turn on auto refresh rate or refresh rate switching. That way your tv plays the videos original frame rate instead of trying to play a 24fps film at 60fps ect. That is all. Plex, youtube, games, DVD players, Blu-ray players ect...turn on auto refresh rate or refresh rate switching. Then turn off all the unneeded processing in your tv's advanced picture settings. One more thing, with smart tv's, force close apps you are not using and clear cache, not data..just cache. The more apps that are open, the more processing and ram you are using. Apps usually do not actually close when you exit out. I own the u7h, it runs beautifully. No judder, no stutter, no blur..just clean and crisp picture.
I feel The 55 inch doesn’t necessarily need as many local dimming zones as the larger sets since it’s a smaller television meaning the density of the zones should be about equivalent even though it’s got less which means the local dimming performance should be about the same
I keep wanting to get away from Hisense (currently have the H9G in 65") and upgrade to a 75"/77" oled but Hisense keeps making these great "budget" options‼️ What to do, what to do⁉️🤷🏾♂️
Thanks for the video! I am between the U8H and the LG QNED85. The TV is for a living room with a lot of light coming in. Do you recommend one over the other?
Just got a 65U8H today .....I have an 65H9g ,65U6g,,65 H1 oled ...I brought back the H1 due to burn in...Wow this damn U8H is awesome ...Im blown away ...This is damn close to the H1...I am really shocked ...Sound isnt terrible either although all Tv's should have at least a sound bar minimum ....
Great review! Would you buy the Hisense U8H over the Samsung QN90B in 75" size for mainly watching SDR, Streaming and Sports? I have Narrowed my search down to the Sammy for what I want in a TV but for $1000 less (In Canada) I can get the Hisense. Thanks
Wonderful video Spocko... ehh I mean FOMO. It's nice to have an alternative for a more reasonably priced TV that performs very well. Not everybody has the budget for a top of the line OLED or LCD TV. That's a welcome recommendation I can make to some friends.
I have a Hisense H9F and love the picture quality, BUT, as the tv got somewhat older, it became very, very laggy . It is slow to turn on and display and image. It is very slow to respond to inputs from the remote. If the tv is left on for some time, then the problem seems to be fixed, until it is turned off for a while. Then it starts all over again. I have eliminated as many of the apps as possible, and cleared the cache, to no avail. I wonder if the new U8H will also experience this problem down the road.
Unfortunately the 65"u8h is is $1700 for Canada. Even given the differences in currency rate, Hisense is still price gauging badly. Its enough to make me not consider buying the U8H on principle alone
Which more manufacturers would offer OS options like Google or Roku because really I prefer Roku TV. By the way you should always post a raw spec sheet nits, dimming zones..for easy viewing, etc. Also about where is the U9H?
Hi FOMO, I am upset by the difference of US vs EU models of U8H, so I am all the time reconsidering if I should purchase it or not. Knowing we are stuck in EU with the weaker version, would you still recommend it or you would recommend something else for the price, like TCL c635 or TCL c735 (EU doesent have the TCL R655 as well).
The only Hisense EU models that are worthy of attention are their oleds, which I believe are not available in the US, last year's A9G is a proper bargain at under €1000.
@@stopthefomo i think that you can make one video about that topic. I think that all your followers around the world(including me) are interested to find out why they are getting such a bad treatment from Hisense and Tcl. They give us bad tvs and charge us way more than american customers. That bad situation isnt just in uk its in whole europe. Europe has 700 million potential customers who they dont care about(405 millions in developed countries of europe union). They would have so much more customers if they give us same type of products but no they give us half way done products(we dont even get google tv on tvs, we get shitty vida platform).
I purchased the Hisense h8g from your reviews. Now i am looking for a new bedroom tv I can purchase the u8h or u6k for the same price which one would you recommend the last years higher end model or this years newer lower end model
NOTICE: I finally needed to return the Hisense U8H. The severe problems with "Stuttering" and "Posterization" and "Macroblocking" and "Lipsyncing" were NOT solved with the recent Firmware Updates. It is SO DISAPPOINTING Hisense would release a product with so many glitches and flaws. If Hisense had made the product just a little better and taken a bit longer to release it, I gladly would have paid a couple hundred dollars more to avoid those problems.
@@danielr6401 No. And that was expected. Hisense made it clear from the start that the items such as "Dolby Vision" and "Netflix" were problems they were aware of, and problems that would be fixed with "Firmware Updates." However, Hisense never acknowledged that the other problems would ever be fixed with Firmware Updates. As a result, many people presumed all along that those problems would never be corrected. We are now halfway through February and those problems have still not been corrected. It is safe to say those problems will not be corrected with a Firmware Update. I hope Hisense and TCL don't try to cut corners with shortcuts such as "8-Bit plus FRC" panels and weak processing technology for their 2023 models.
@@michaelzoran thanks for the info! I was seeing the 55” u8h for around $500 and I was thinking of getting it. Even at that price I think I’d be annoyed with these issues. I was excited about the upcoming Tcl and Hisense models but now I’m leery to try either. I guess back to researching something else. I love my 12 year old Samsung but I wasn’t looking to spend $1600 again.
@@danielr6401 I suggest you don't spend the $1,600 again on a Samsung, Sony, or LG. Those TV sets for 2022 models each have problems of their own. Although they each have the proper types of 10-bit panels, they are vastly overpriced. It is actually absurd for what they are being sold for. Just look at the lower prices of the Hisense, TCL, RCA, Onn, Element, and other brands as proof. It looks like the 2023 models will have some improved specifications. But, if thse dumb companies such as LG, Samsung, and Sony decide to play the game of releasing their products with super high prices with the intent of lowering prices at Black Friday, I will not get anything. I'm not paying an absurd price for a TV set, because the simple fact is these TV sets don't last long anymore. It would be better to spend the money on a car.
Looking to get a 75 inch moving up from a curved 65 Samsung. Yes I am behind the times love your info vids but I am pretty simple. I think I might want to go Hisense. I mainly watch tv and RUclips. Occasionally my daughter does some gaming guide me if I had 1,000 to spend and possibly up to 1,500. What would you advise.
I bought this Hisense U8H TV last weekend and loved it for the first three days The picture is phenomenal. Ever since then it keeps losing sound when I try to watch cable TV from my cable box which is connected to the number four HDMI input. I would have sound on RUclips and Netflix but nothing coming from the cable box. It also started locking up on Netflix and wouldn't load the movie I am trying to watch. I did one factory hard reset which fixed the problem for about five hours then all the problems started again. I've done three soft resets since just to be able to watch Cable TV or Netflix. I talked to a support rep on the phone from Hisense. He told me the problem was with my cable box, so I hooked the cable box to my old Vizio TV to see if I had any sound coming from the cable box and bingo, I had sound on that TV for the entire day. I am very disappointed with my purchase and now have the daunting task of repacking this TV back in its box. It's going back.
I expect it won't get as bright, will have slightly worse black levels and more blooming. Basically, it would be an improved U7G due to more dimming zones and better processing - however, I need to get it into my studio to verify how much better than the U7G it is!
Should I worry about getting a bad set that dies after the warranty expires? I like to wait to see if Costo would have this TV later this year (OCT-DEC'2022). I like Costco's added five year warranty, since it is not feasible to repair a large screen TVs.
How would this compare with the U7H? I understand that the 75 in was an IPS panel unlike the 65 in. I am torn between the two. I would like to get the bigger screen, but was not sure if the 65 was the better TV. My use case is gaming (PS5) and content viewing.
$1100 65 u8h or 65 s95b for $1500 out the door for sd streaming, movies, hdr movies? Any deal breakers if going for one vs the other? Both would be in a room that gets a decent amount of light during the day. Does the 36% premium of Samsung give 36% more value? When I was in the best buy show room, the content being played on both wasn't impressive, but the brightness of hisense made it pop more compared to Samsung when viewing it near entrance of store(~100 feet away)
I got a Sony oled 55 inch in my bedroom and it’s the best looking tv in my home. We still own a plasma tv in 1080p with a great refresh rate the plasma is about 15 years old. and a led 1080p non smart Sony Bravia that’s about 10 years old. I can’t see why people buy tv so often or have so much tv trouble. I have friends who have had 3 tvs to my Sony Bravia led and my Panasonic plasma tv. They still work so well we can’t seee replacing them Yet.
For those in Australia: The U8H is not the sames as the U8HAU! The Australian model is missing some key things like the Google os and a lot less diming Zone! Look for reviews on Australian retails first.
FOMO, can Hisense somehow fix the posterization issue with gaming via a firmware update ? I’m ok with just 4K / 60. 120 fps gaming is not there yet. Too much of a sacrifice with resolution and visuals. So 60 fps @ 4K is fine. But that posterization though….
It doesn't come in 85"! I don't get it. I am looking for a new 85" but you can't get the top of the line Hisense in 85", don't understand what they were thinking.
I have the U8H 55 in my bedroom it looks good or better than my 2000.00 Sony in my family room. It's a beast got early on sale Amazon 750.00 the lordest speakers too.
In Europe we have the u8hq. It is said it's different to the u8h ( more nits and dining zones) are they different? Is the tcl c835 better than the r655 and u8h/u8hq?
Unlikely, this appears to be Netflix DV stream issue that Hisense needs to figure out (I had this problem sending Netflix DV from my Chromecast as well)
Unfortunately, Hisense & TLC aren't too widely available this side of the pond (UK)...and when they are, quite often, it is not the same product as in the US - just like this time. What a shame. Hisense & TLC - please release the same Product worldwide. These types of tactics are disingenuous and quite annoying as many of us want to buy your products! I finally pulled the trigger on a 65 inch LG QNED91(same as QNED90) 2021 Mini-LED TV since it was quite nicely discounted - under £1000. It has the best features I wanted, and HDMI 2.1 for the goodness. OLED is still out of our budget sadly, and I wanted one from Costco since their customer service is the best in my experience. So hope all goes well. They at least offer a 90 day return period, just in case something better comes out in that time or if there's an issue.
I mean...IPS is not bad in itself...I kind of prefer it because sometimes we watch the TV from the other side of the room, and it has better viewing angles. The LG QNED I bought is IPS technically, but with FLAT Mini-LEDs I just think that it's dishonest to release one product in one part of the world and get really good reviews, and then release something else in some parts of the world and keep the same model number. People then buy it and think it's the same, when it's an inferior product.
Hi Fomo I’m looking to purchase my first big tv for my basement movie room. I was looking at this tv and the Samsung QN85B. Which do you recommend? Thanks!
Hisense U8H has better blooming control and shadow detail, both are easily bright enough in a dark movie room. If you watch mostly full screen content (few black bars) then the QN85B has the edge in that I prefer Samsung TV Plus for general TV watching but for HDR impact, the U8H is the better TV. On the other hand, image processing on the QN85B is a little better for low bit rate content streaming on RUclips TV and the like. QN85B also comes in 85" while the U8H stops at 75". Personally, since I watch high quality HDR movie content, I'd select the U8H but quality of life preferences are very subjective depending on whether you like Tizen or not!
I've been thinking about upgrading my 55" LG B9 to a 55" LG C1. However, what I would really love, is the ability to purchase an unopened pioneer kuro from like 12 years ago!
@@RydarGames color accuracy isn't terrible. It's not as good as a C2 but it's not terrible like your acting. Without another TV next to it you're not going to notice the difference between any of them Many C1 do have evo panels. The only way your TV wouldn't have an EVO panel as if it was one of the very first c1 made which at this point would be very very unlikely. C2 and C1 are nearly the same tv. This year didn't change much
Omg stay away from LG QNED. I have been checking in store for 3 years. I hve 2 Hisense Flagship panels…QNED sucks so bad. If u really dont trust Hisense, get Samsung s95K. Hisense look identical. 96-98% as Samsung S95B in person. I was so impressed in store. Make sure do NOT let the store employee to manipulate u. They were trying to sell that to me. Like they will make hisense back setting tweaked funny” smooth setting set toFirm, turnoff motion sensor, change color to like filmmaker mode to play youtube” all sorts shady stuff. …to produce a funny visual to be like “ see see seee” … cuz their LG QNED is not moving n they are pulling all stops selling . Trust the REviews on youtube. Don’t trust sales. They are often ordered to sell certain brands when some are not moving. the sales were trying to pull d tricks on me . He did NOT know I had Hisense flagship panel already i know how to set d tv. I asked him “can u hand me over the remote, its set funny. U8H is a better HDR movie TV while the QNED85 has well thought out working gaming features but falls behind in overall image quality for content watching (and it also has worse DSE with corner light bleed being a known issue) - gotta choose your poison.
Thanks for the review, thinking about buying it God willing from Best Buy rather than the Sony X90K, if the Highsense is available at the right sale price…
Im consdering UH8 over Sony A75L reason being with a 5 year warranty the UH8 55inch comes in under 1k. Sony only offers a 1 year warranty dont feel comfortable so add 5year warranty pushes cost to 1500.00 plus.
Just get the U9H. Its so so so so so nice.i got a 75”. It’s MUCH better in person. I heard the 65” is sweet spot tho. Next 2 yrs i assume the 8K tv are comming out more. So save money for new upgrade. :) Hisense have been having 8K tv for many years now, they dont even lunch ANY of their More premium stuff in USA . They had 85” of this flagship model back home last a few yrs. they dont sell it in Canada or USA. What we see is “North American flagship “. Lol…I m waiting for my next upgrade in
Sony IMHO overpriced the X95K 85"!! It would have been my top choice at $3200-3400, but no way I am paying such a huge premium for that TV, X90K 85 is only $2300 USD right now! I don't get it. yea it's new tech for Sony but their competitors are pricing very good 85" tvs at much lower prices, with Mini LED tech.
I’m really upset Hisense dropped the ball concerning gaming features. No full 4K/120Hz + banding and posterization issues = deal breaker. Please keep us posted if they fix things up with a firmware update.
I bought the Hisense U8G and I thought it had really awful processing and banding and posturization. The glowing reviews for a TV with major flaws like this to me is misleading
Other reviews online made it clear that these problems with "No Full 4K/120Hz + Banding and Posterization issues" only occur when Dolby Vision is on. When HDR is used instead of Dolby Vision, those problems do not occur.
working fine, just not perfectly calibrated as it is a little brighter than reference but you won't notice the difference when watching in a brighter room
Go with the Samsung QN90A because it's built like a flagship and feels refined over all. Yes, U8H has better HDR image quality but the QN90A is just a well baked TV for the price now that it's fully discounted.
@@stopthefomo Thanks for the reply! I found a QN9DA on Amazon for $1078 that has now gone up to over $1300. This model is supposedly that same as the QN90A.

Cheers!

UPDATE: Netflix DV may indeed work via external streamer (it worked today when I tested it again). The internal Netflix DV is still not showing properly but from an external streamer it is working - I expect more consistency from all sources once Hisense figures it out in a firmware update.
What about other Apple TV box apps like Disney+? Is it working DV on that?
Glad to see this. I came down to the comments to ask for clarification on this point. Which streaming device did you see this with?

Please what is the name of the in between sound used in this video?
Where can I find it?
Really liked this video. I bought a 50" Samsung plasma in 2003 and am still using it today. In a couple months it turns 20 years old. It still works great. Not one issue but I finally felt like it was time. After doing the research I decided on this TV. Just purchased it. It'll be here Thanksgiving weekend. Thanks for helping me decide.
I bought my Samsung plasma 12 years ago and it's still one of the best TVs I've seen but I will be looking at a new TV within the next couple years
How do you like it?

My God, I don't know why people likes Roku ,. Roku got same interface since 2005 so old-fashion & boring, loves Google TV , since I"m google user
Who posted the video gave me the details, you answered my question! Thanks both!😁
I already have an OLED that I LOVE in my darker office for gaming, movies, Everything.
The fact that I won't have to worry about burning in my OLED anymore bc gaming is so good on the U8H too means I can balance my gaming load and I need to stop gabbing bc I'm too excited... lol
Update?

Why not just purchase the US version then? lol

Exactly!

Hi FOMO, greetings from Australia. 🇦🇺
Thx so much for your reviews, opinions and advice in general. I love your passion and knowledge.
I also wish to say thx for alerting us to the fact that the EU model while having the same name is a different TV to the US version. 👏👏
Most American reviewers have failed to mention this fact this year.

Hi. Great to hear from you.
In Australia we don't get many important specs. How do you know it's a ADS panel?
@@R6ex damn, that's horrible, and a disturbing bait and switch, granted I still have to account for the impressive image I saw back here in Australia.
I should check whether they've also removed the subwoofer, granted I never expect much from TV speakers.
Fomo, all this hype for the U8H had me doubting my 65" LG C2 purchase @ $1799 tax included. It's shipping now(for a dark man room). How did things go with your 75" version?
I had a Hisense 55H8C that was dirt cheap and 4k. It lasted 3 years and the panel went out.
They did honor the first year in the US 4 year warranty and sent me a 55H8F to replace it.
I replaced it with a 65 825 TCL mini led set that I still have and love the picture.
I would probably go with a TCL for a cheap set but it seems all the manufacturers have upped their games so it might hold up just fine.
The blooming control of the TCL is almost perfect, but it crushes blacks a bit to do it.
I'm actually eyeing the TCL C935 so this comment is quite helpful. How much do you love your C825? Pros/cons?

Thank you for your work. I was planning to buy a LG C2 or the LG QNED91 but after watching your review, I am wondering if the 75" U9HAU is just as good for half the price of the LG models.
The problem with these panels in Canada is they're never on sale. But Sony pricing falls off a cliff. I can get an x95J 75" for $1050 USD here in Toronto. And X95K pricing will fall off a cliff in a few months too. This is on sites like Kijiji. So makes TVs like this a hard sell.

Can you comment on the U8H problem with stutter for Frame Hold Time @ 24 fps
(34.1 ms) - test by RTINGS. Thanks!

Love you opinions Is X8HAU OLED a better TV costs more and U8HAU Mini led what is the difference?

Add a thumb drive and move some of the programs to the thumb drive. Bam speed is back

Dolby Vision still an issue I believe
Unfortunately the 65"u8h is is $1700 for Canada. Even given the differences in currency rate, Hisense is still price gauging badly. Its enough to make me not consider buying the U8H on principle alone

Absolutely not - please watch the reviews of the EU U8H to see if it's worth considering over the TCL 835 but I doubt it
The only Hisense EU models that are worthy of attention are their oleds, which I believe are not available in the US, last year's A9G is a proper bargain at under €1000.
I'd take C835's VA panel over the UK U8HQ's IPS panel. Should have more dimming zones too.

However, Hisense never acknowledged that the other problems would ever be fixed with Firmware Updates.
Stop Buying Garbage
Hi, for those on a budget ho does the U7H compare? Would you recommend the U7H over the TCL 655. Thanks
I always get extended warranty on TVs. Around this price area. Just not worth risking it. Usually I get my sets from Best Buy.
Netflix dolby vision work great for me as i am using a shield tv pro and its just solid on my U8H.
I'm glad to hear the most recent Firmware Update fixed the problem. This needs to be addressed by more websites that did a review two months ago.
How would this compare with the U7H? I understand that the 75 in was an IPS panel unlike the 65 in. I am torn between the two. I would like to get the bigger screen, but was not sure if the 65 was the better TV. My use case is gaming (PS5) and content viewing.
U8H better than U7h all day
$1100 65 u8h or 65 s95b for $1500 out the door for sd streaming, movies, hdr movies?
Any deal breakers if going for one vs the other? Both would be in a room that gets a decent amount of light during the day.
Does the 36% premium of Samsung give 36% more value? When I was in the best buy show room, the content being played on both wasn't impressive, but the brightness of hisense made it pop more compared to Samsung when viewing it near entrance of store(~100 feet away)
Did the Netflix/DolbyVision big get fixed?
This TV is pretty highly rated.
Thank you for the wonderful review and for your recommended Motion settings. What are your thoughts on Motion Clearness? Off or on? Have a good one.
Clearness dims the image too much, and I see flickering sometimes, it's not worth it for me - mostly reserved for gamers IMO
@@stopthefomo Thank you. I believe you or someone during the Calibrations mentioned that and I had forgot and just wanted to make sure.
For those in Australia: The U8H is not the sames as the U8HAU! The Australian model is missing some key things like the Google os and a lot less diming Zone! Look for reviews on Australian retails first.
Great review as always :-)
FOMO, can Hisense somehow fix the posterization issue with gaming via a firmware update ? I’m ok with just 4K / 60. 120 fps gaming is not there yet. Too much of a sacrifice with resolution and visuals. So 60 fps @ 4K is fine. But that posterization though….
It doesn't come in 85"! I don't get it. I am looking for a new 85" but you can't get the top of the line Hisense in 85", don't understand what they were thinking.
Is there a website for this TV that will say what different firmware updates are actually doing? Like problems addressed or features added/ removed?
I have the U8H 55 in my bedroom it looks good or better than my 2000.00 Sony in my family room. It's a beast got early on sale Amazon 750.00 the lordest speakers too.
prob a 2017 Sony
@@ManuelMedellin. No 2021 Sony
I'm still holding out for that 100" beast.
ME TOO
In Europe we have the u8hq. It is said it's different to the u8h ( more nits and dining zones) are they different? Is the tcl c835 better than the r655 and u8h/u8hq?
Hi FOMO! Did HiSense fix all the Dolby Vision issues? Thank you!
Not yet, but tweaking the settings in the "Dolby Vision Custom" setting has worked really well for me.
Would the dolby vision problem be solved if I use an Apple TV 4K? If so, should I pull the trigger now and buy it or wait for Black Friday?
In europe and other regions the Hisense U8H is IPS trash :(
I mean...IPS is not bad in itself...I kind of prefer it because sometimes we watch the TV from the other side of the room, and it has better viewing angles. The LG QNED I bought is IPS technically, but with FLAT Mini-LEDs
I just think that it's dishonest to release one product in one part of the world and get really good reviews, and then release something else in some parts of the world and keep the same model number.
People then buy it and think it's the same, when it's an inferior product.
Can you give us your calibrated settings please 🙏🏻 I just bought it!
Is the Dolby Vision - Netflix issue fixed now?
Some TVs, such as LG C2, looks and feels very 3D, is the HDR?
I've been thinking about upgrading my 55" LG B9 to a 55" LG C1. However, what I would really love, is the ability to purchase an unopened pioneer kuro from like 12 years ago!
Wait for black Friday and get the C2. Do not get the C1!
@@RydarGames why
@@BrettEvan terrible out of the box color accuracy. Lacks Evo panel, and processor isn't as snappy. Urgent gen when navigating apps across the OS.
@@RydarGames color accuracy isn't terrible. It's not as good as a C2 but it's not terrible like your acting. Without another TV next to it you're not going to notice the difference between any of them
Many C1 do have evo panels. The only way your TV wouldn't have an EVO panel as if it was one of the very first c1 made which at this point would be very very unlikely.
C2 and C1 are nearly the same tv. This year didn't change much
@@paulcox2447 On top of that the C2 is only a little brighter and has some minor processing tweaks. But if the price is the same...
Does this tv do airplay? I can't seem to find it on the specs. I am considering this or the Tcl R655?
Is the desk worth it in all honesty? like the wood top is it easy to break
I watch mostly dish sdr content, will this upscale okay?
Just purchased the 55" TV (25OCT22) for $699. Is that a good deal?
I’ve heard junk about Sony to, what is the difference in gaming. All these tvs have different weaknesses.
Would you suggest the Hisense U8H or the LG QNED85? Both in 65” about $100 difference right now.
Movies, video games and sometimes PC monitor
I want to try to play with remote” d sales tv guy got so mad cuz he got sheepish, he just seize up all angry , n like B*ch walk away.
I'm debating either this on the LG B2? Or Should I spend more to get the C2?
Just get the U9H. Its so so so so so nice.i got a 75”. It’s MUCH better in person. I heard the 65” is sweet spot tho. Next 2 yrs i assume the 8K tv are comming out more. So save money for new upgrade. :) Hisense have been having 8K tv for many years now, they dont even lunch ANY of their More premium stuff in USA . They had 85” of this flagship model back home last a few yrs. they dont sell it in Canada or USA. What we see is “North American flagship “. Lol…I m waiting for my next upgrade in
How would you compare this to the Hisense H9G which I currently have in 55 inch
Sony IMHO overpriced the X95K 85"!! It would have been my top choice at $3200-3400, but no way I am paying such a huge premium for that TV, X90K 85 is only $2300 USD right now! I don't get it. yea it's new tech for Sony but their competitors are pricing very good 85" tvs at much lower prices, with Mini LED tech.
How does the U8H compare to to 2020 H9G?
How is the 55 inch? Same or less dimming zones?
May i know what competitor is the best for netflix dolby vision?
I’m really upset Hisense dropped the ball concerning gaming features. No full 4K/120Hz + banding and posterization issues = deal breaker. Please keep us posted if they fix things up with a firmware update.
I think you have to temper your expectations for a $1000. You can't have everything. Perhaps they will offer software update or a model update.
I bought the Hisense U8G and I thought it had really awful processing and banding and posturization. The glowing reviews for a TV with major flaws like this to me is misleading
@@patb5266 last year didn't have these issues. I think you need to up your expectations as a consumer lol
Other reviews online made it clear that these problems with "No Full 4K/120Hz + Banding and Posterization issues" only occur when Dolby Vision is on. When HDR is used instead of Dolby Vision, those problems do not occur.
Is Dolby vision working for netflix now when using the netflix app straight from the TV apps?
working fine, just not perfectly calibrated as it is a little brighter than reference but you won't notice the difference when watching in a brighter room
@@stopthefomo would you say the Dolby vision for netflix on the U8H is on par with the H9G or better?
QN90A or U8H? in 65" both in my price range.
VERY similar, extremely similar. i have almost same visual experience. they have almost same tech. both ultra premium.
Hi all , what do you think of the u8h against an LG B2 ?
