I have been saved. (Justified, saved from condemnation.)
I am being saved. (Sanctified, saved from the power of sin.)
I will be saved. (Glorified, saved from the environment of sin.)
I'm delighted that you are teaching that there is more to salvation than justification.
I suspect there is something here that I still don't understand and I'm willing to assume that it may be useful so I may watch this video again to see whether it will be easier to understand the second time I watch it.
At the same time, I'm quite sure that I will need to use different language to explain whatever it is because I believe sanctification is not achieved, it is received. It is God's gift to us, not our gift to him. He is able to transform us as we learn to trust him, not as we try harder to imitate his perfection.

IVHOP Academy, I’m not suggesting that you take down this video and you are under no obligation to answer my question but, if you were to make another video on this subject and if the part of my comment you “liked” was the distinction between trying and trusting, do you think you might use slightly different language with regard to sanctification in the future?
Neither of my parents were Hebrew but, between 1944 and 1950, my parents read Bible stories to me an average of about four times a week. Between 1950 and ‘54, they made sure I had “simplified” Bible stories to read and they encouraged me to read them enough to be able to re-tell the stories in my own words. At least one quarter and more probably half of those stories were from the Hebrew portion of the Bible.
In 1958, LdS (Mormon) missionaries held “discussions” with our parents. My sister, Ruth, and I sat in on the discussions. The missionaries gave each of us a Book of Mormon and told us to read it, “praying to know that it is true”.
When they returned a week later, I told the missionaries I had decided to adopt “the principle of prior reference” (I had never heard it called that before) - the principle that anything purported to be special revelation should be evaluated and interpreted by older revelation. I explained that the missionaries were doing the opposite of that - they were interpreting the Bible by later revelation.
About three decades ago, I acquired a Strong’s unabridged concordance. It has been very helpful for the kind of Bible research I like to do.
About two decades ago, I acquired an English translation of the Hebrew Bible that was translated by Hebrews (copyright date 1917). They translated Genesis 2:7 as “Then the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.”
If we apply the principle of prior reference to the study of this subject, a) According to Strong, the word, breath in this verse is translated from the Hebrew word, “neshamah” which can be translated as puff of wind, angry or vital breath, divine inspiration, soul or spirit and is the equivalent of the Chaldean “nishma” meaning breath or vital breath. b) Adam became a “soul” when his body was animated by the “breath of life” which, in this context, seems to be the power to live.
Among observant Hebrews in the twenty-first century, there are a variety of ways of understanding the nature of human beings but there continue to be many who understand this subject in this way. As was true two thousand years ago, some Hebrews anticipate the resurrection of the body and some don’t but most consider the “soul” to exist only when the body is animated by the spirit or breath of life.
My study of the Hebrew Bible has led me to a similar understanding of the nature of human beings. Instead of interpreting the Hebrew portions of the Bible by “traditional” (ostensibly Christian) interpretations of the Gospels and the Epistles, I prefer to interpret the Gospels and the Epistles by the older Hebrew portions of the Bible.
I don’t have any college degrees and I’ve never attended seminary classes so my understanding of this or any other subject should not be considered dogma but I hope the above will encourage people to study the Bible for themselves - perhaps to even adopt the principle of prior reference.

@@rogermetzger7335 Adam was given physical life in Gen 2:7 as you have quoted but bible states that we are spiritually dead until we are born again and that is the point being made here. When we are born again we are not going back into our mothers womb as nicodemus asked Jesus. instead we are being made spiritually alive through the process of salvation. That process has a three stages: justification, Sanctification, and glorification.

This is very true however, the key words enabling them to bear fruit ....As Christians we still have an old sin nature we have to deal with...Most commentators deal very little with this struggle with this nature. Just because we have been gifted with the Holy Spirit , doesn't mean we will always utilize it . If we are being controlled by the sin nature and out of fellowship with God, we act like unbelievers. It is not an exact science...Those that produce fruit must have bible doctrine (the mind of Christ ) in there souls to produce that fruit...If we don't , then we stumble around in the dark on emotions.

Blood coming from all over his body and NAKED hanging on that cross like torture weapon! What a Lord and God and Savior! He had to do it. HE is God the Son and only His body and blood could pay the sins price of ALL ever! 1 John 2:1-2. Subscribed.
God knew your faithful ministry from before the world was made! Ephesians 1:1-14. Oh Lord, bless this channel; a haven for your blessings in Jesus Christ. There is a Crown in Heaven awaiting all who faithfully share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and a soul is saved. ( "JESUS SAVES" below) 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20; Philippians 4:1. The Apostle Paul testified; Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek".
This praise resounds across the earth: "Jesus is Lord and only He saves".
2 Samuel chapter 22:verse 50 "Therefore I will praise you, O Lord, out of the countries, and I will praise your name."
    JESUS SAVES
God the Son (Jesus Christ) has given us the gospel to share with the world.
Mark 16:15: "And He said unto them, Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."
How can anyone hear the good news? Romans 10:17 "Then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."John 1:1-5. The Spirit teaches through the Word.
Isaiah 7:14:Therefore the LORD shall give you a sign; behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and call His name Immanuel. Hebrew: עִמָּנוּאֵל, God with us in human flesh but without sin. The Savior of the world was born to die for our sins! He did so 33 years later. His terrible ordeal; body mutilated; blood poured out, finally died (John 19:30; Luke 26:46 ) and was placed in a tomb and rose from the dead the 3rd day ! Matthew 28:6.
Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all." - IT IS FOUNDED UPON GOD'S LOVE FOR MAN AND WOMAN HE CREATED

" For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
" Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me.."John 14.6
"1 Corinthians 15:3 "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"
THE PAYMENT BY HIS BLOOD FOR ALL SINS EVER!
"And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world." 1 John 2: 2
Romans 5:8 " But God demonstrates his love for us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, now justified by his blood, we will be saved from wrath through him."
“For he (God) hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians 5: 21.
"In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;." Ephesians 1: 7
BY GOD'S GRACE ALONE THROUGH FAITH ALONE IN JESUS CHRIST ARE WE SAVED
Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 not of works, lest any man should boast."
Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sins and rescue us from eternal death. Because of Jesus' death on our behalf, all we have to do is believe in Him, trusting in His death and the shedding of His blood as payment for our sins, and His burial and resurrection from the dead the third day, and we will be saved! John 20: 24-31; See also 1 Corinthians 15: 3-4.
THOSE WHO BELIEVE TESTIFY TO THE TRUTH
    Romans 10:
9 That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart man believes in righteousness; And a confession by mouth is given for salvation.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Forgiveness of sins is the blessing of all who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We receive the baptism of God the Holy Spirit immediately which seals us in Christ Ephesians 1:13-14. Those who reject the free gift of salvation, perish(John 3:16) which means their sins are judged and they suffer separation from God and the family of God forever. Rev.21:8
"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Romans 5:1

So excited for your hunger for the Word of God! Unfortunately, I do not have a full answer to your question about the age-old question "once saved ... always saved?" My Calvinist brethren would be quite inclined to tell you that perseverance of the saints is a biblical argument, and I would be inclined to agree with them .... at the same time, my Arminian brethren would champion the theology that one can fall away from the faith and lose their salvation to which I agree there are many scriptures that seem to suggest this is true as well. The jury is still out in my own personal theology about this.

So God does not see our righteousness? And you think Christ gives us his purity and righteousness? 1 John 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. 7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
God does not see Christ's righteousness in us. He sees us as we are. Our past sins were cleansed by Christ's perfect righteousness, which in that way was imputed to us. All present and future sins are confessed and forgiven based on the atonement but they are not

      @@williemoe2927 you are correct.
Here is what both James and Paul say about Faith:
      1 Corinthians 13:1-3
If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. [2] If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. [3] And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.
      James 2:17,20
Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself. [20] But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless? EARLY GREEK MANUSCRIPTS SAY DEAD, NOT USELESS.

    • @Ryan_Zell
      @Ryan_Zell 3 года назад

@Charles Calhoun Hi Charlies. I don't think your understanding of Dead Faith is wrong. The opposite of Dead Faith is Living Faith. What makes Faith Living is not works per say, but the motive behind all graced-works (Eph 2:8-10, specifically 10). Now I just want to twick this a bit so that we can come to an understanding of Saving/Living/Justifying FAITH.
When one hears the gospel and starts to believe with their intellect/logic/reason/thinking skills, one is prompted by the Holy Spirit to seek Baptism. Baptism saves (1 Peter 3:21), makes one born-again (John 3:5), sanctifies and justifies a person (1 Corinthians 6:11), and then one is IN CHRIST (Romans 6:3-4, Gal 3:27). Without a Living Faith one merely has a faith that is just mere intellectual ascent.
Charles, what makes Faith a Living/Saving/Justifying Faith? James alludes to that answer right after he asks the 2 questions in James 2:14 (lets call this the Thesis Question), when he asks the question in 2:15-16.
James tells us implictly and explicitly that Faith is dead when those works God has prepared for you beforehand, that you would walk in them, when you fail to Love your Neighbor as yourself (James 2:8) and fail to show mercy (James 2:12-13). It's not the works, its a failure to be a DOER of the word, (James 1:22, Romans 2:13). In essence, you are one of the Goats. This is what Faith alone/by-itself/only leads to:
      James 2:17 KJV
Even so FAITH, if it hath not works, is DEAD, being ALONE.
      James 2:17 RSV
So FAITH BY ITSELF, if it has no works, is DEAD.
      See the Keyswords Charles.
Faith Alone is mere intellectual ascent. And the very fact that those of the Protestant and unProtestant Protestant communions can say, "Jesus is Lord," proves that this is from the Holy Spirit. But it is dead faith until one is Baptized and receives sanctifying grace and the virtues of Faith, Hope and Love (Agape in the Greek). See Romans 5:1-5.
What you call "incomplete faith," I am calling dead faith because that faith is not living. What makes faith Living is Gods supernatural gift of Agape. God is Love.
If you really want to understand the context of James 2:24 and why the Holy Spirit rejects faith alone as a doctrine, you must read chapters 1:27 and 2:1-23 and you can only come to the same conclusion has the Holy Spirit through James.
      James 2:24
You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone.
Any other conclusion such as this: "You see that a man is justified by faith alone" then it means you do not understand the scriptures. He is speaking about a Living faith which *IS TO LIVE OUT THE FAITH YOU PROFESS.
As for good works (and I am anticipatng this question), there are works and then there are Graced-Works. Muslims, Hindus, Atheists all do good works, love their families, give to charities, etc, but unless one is IN CHRIST, those deeds/works are not those works I cited using Ephesians 2:10.
This is hard to get the first few times and is worth reading over and over. If you believe in faith alone, then you are rejecting the Holy Spirit who had James address this and stop this heresy in its infancy.
      Blessings

@Charles Calhoun Charles, this is not my interpretation. The scripture is clear and also the entirety of scripture is not based on Faith Alone/By-Itself/Only. Justification is not by Faith Alone. I'm giving you what the ancient Church found in the New Testament has always taught and preached. I am glad you placed your faith in Jesus Christ's passion, death and resurrection and in the forgiveness of sins, but the Holy Spirit has spoken through James and Faith Alone is rejected. It's right there.
I already told you how we are saved/born-again/sanctified and justified. You hear the Gospel and believe in Christ, follow the promptings of the Holy Spirit, get Baptized and live out the life you profess in your faith in Christ. In other words be conformed to Christ because you have died with Him and you will be raised with Him as a new creation. Heaven is not the final destination. The New Heavens and the New Earth are.
If you want to do good and fail, then you are not saved, born-again, sanctified and justified and doing those works that Good has prepared for you to do beforehand that you would walk in. To give into temptation and do bad means that Charles Calhoun is not IN CHRIST. If Charles Calhoun believes in Faith Alone, then the Holy Spirit is not in Charles Calhoun. I think you are not speaking about the PRACTICE OF SIN, but the sins that one commits that do not fracture your relationship with God. The ancient faith calls this venial sin and we can confess our sins and we are made righteous from that state of unrighteousness that venial sin causes us. Mortal sin is the sin that destroys your santifying grace.
I belong to a Pre-Denominational Church called the Catholic Church.
      What about you?
Also, I don't think we are too far apart. This channel doesn't allow youtube address to come up. My channel is at the top of this comment thread, at the very bottom. If you would like to continue, please do it there. I have several videos on various Protestant and Catholic doctrines.
      Blessings
If you believe this: You see that a man is justified by Faith Alone, then you reject the Holy Spirit.
