Hey! My name is Elena and I'm an expat living and working in Odessa, Ukraine. I want to share my monthly expenses in Odessa so that you can decide for yourself how expensive is Ukraine. The cost of living will include such things as: - Accommodation (rent prices) - Bills (water, electricity, heating, internet, mobile) - Groceries - Entertainment (typical bill in restaurant, bar, cinema) - Transportation (public and taxi)
So, this is the cost for 2 people with all the amenities that you saw in our apartment. We are on long-term rent. However, it could me much lower if you are by yourself, in a smaller apartment and prefer to cook at home.
@@redhead_inc I like the one you got.it has a sunset view ,plus 14 th floor is pretty good.keep going and stay healthy and enthusiastic and wish a good life you and your partner.one thing is missing in your home.a pet.
I lived in Odessa, Ukraine for a long time till I left in 2013. That was a wonderful experience of my childhood there you can find plenty of good foods and entertainments. When I moved to Australia, oh man most items, accommodations, etertainments are so expensive as hell. Looking forward to go Ukraine for vacation only.
Well, when the pandemic passes hope you’ll give it a visit. What do you think are the most important things expats looking to move to Ukraine should know?
Elena Plescan one day and yeah after when the pandemic ends. Hmmm if it's in Odessa, I highly love to revisit to Deribasovskaya, Odessa Port, see Black Sea go to the shopping malls. I'm a type of person who is outdoorish and love entertaining. I'm very surprise that most of the streets had been inspired Western European names. I don't know much about the history, only know from WW1 or 2.
Amr Tahditi that sounds like a steal! I wouldn’t know a city in this world where I could get such a low cost of living. How big was your apartment? How cold does Granada get in winter?
Thank you for your information about Ukrain and especialy cost living in Ukrain. I am from Indonesia and i love Ukrain. Someday maybe i will come to Ukrain and if you dont mind you will be my guide and translator in Ukrain. Thanks
Super nice! It gave me a deeper perspective on spending in Odessa. Usually I come here only at rest for 2-3 days. Did you take the apartment through a real estate agency?
Many thanks .Not expensive in Ukraine. I m living in Beautiful tropical island 🏝 🌴 of Kauai, Hawaii ! Very, very expensicve two bedrooms $ 2,000 and more
Depends.. We have a cleaning lady that comes once in two weeks to clean the house. We pay around 600 uah for her visit. She cleans everything in 4-5 hours.
Hi there, you can look for salaries for web developers in Ukraine on dou.ua. I do have a newer video from 2021 with monthly expenses - have a look at that one.
@@redhead_inc Hi, I meant once you find an apartment, how to you pay for utilities, is there many suppliers of electricity and gas etc that you would create and account with?
Oh, gotcha) It’s not like that at all in Eastern Europe. There’s only one company, usually state owned that gives electricity ⚡️ or water 💦 or gas to your building. The individual doesn’t have the option to chose among many such companies. The good thing is that you don’t need to sign any contract. Usually the landlord will give you the bill and you can go to the bank or pay it online.

Hi Elena such a nice clear polite video on costs. Thinking of relocating to Odessa
I’m glad you found it useful.

Glad it was helpful!
I lived in Granada (Spain) and i paid 215 euro including rent+utility+heating+internet . I was expecting Ukraine (especially Odessa to be cheaper lul)
Amr Tahditi that sounds like a steal! I wouldn’t know a city in this world where I could get such a low cost of living. How big was your apartment? How cold does Granada get in winter?
@@redhead_inc The apratment isn't private but my room is average with two windows , and Granada is always sunny in winter (with cold of course)
I believed, Elena is living a very high quality life compared to any middle class hence paying a little premium price.
very informative, and lovely explanation. Wish you guys all the best
Thanks a ton
Dam my 2 story house is 200sqm in Kherson and my heating bill is 2400uah. Now you have to pay for gas delivery
Sam Hines that’s a really good price to pay 💰
Without wanting to be indiscreet, what line of work are you in? Very interesting video and so useful. Keep em coming 😊
Hi Tania, I work in IT
Thanks
Welcome
$500 is so cheap! Over here in Los Angeles that apartment would cost $3000 a month!
Well, the rent is cheaper, but Odessa is not LA either)

Yes, we got it through a realtor)
Great video, could you please suggest any real estate agency to rent an apartment?
No idea, unfortunately( Our apartment rent was arranged by my company almost 2 years ago.
@@redhead_inc thanks anyway
thank you Helena!
what is the speed of the internet in Ukraine?
Hey there! Internet is amazing in UA. Of course it depends on your provider, but we have Tenet and the speed is 100 mbps.
Many thanks .Not expensive in Ukraine. I m living in Beautiful tropical island 🏝 🌴 of Kauai, Hawaii ! Very, very expensicve two bedrooms $ 2,000 and more
Hawaii is beautiful and also very touristic, so you have to pay a premium for that) Odessa still not that touristic, so you can save some money
You live in a wonderful heavenly place and it is so warm there ... also in America the salary is higher. Here everything is accordingly
It is expensive like hell here.
A normal worker get netto wage under 200$.
@@georgenicolas2297 do you mean Hawaii? Wow, the difference between revenue and costs is striking
I rent three rooms apartment in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia for 400$ include full service swimming pool and gym
Oh, that's a great deal!
What about buying an apartment? Any recommendations of reputable real estate brokers and real estate lawyers?
I’ll think of a video about this. Have been researching prices of buying an apartment.
Hi Elena, what is the cost to have a cook/cleaner in your house, if she stays 6 hours a day 5 days a week? Thanks in advance :-)
Depends.. We have a cleaning lady that comes once in two weeks to clean the house. We pay around 600 uah for her visit. She cleans everything in 4-5 hours.
Hi Elena, what job prospect for web developer in Odessa and can you give me rough idea how much monthly needed for one person , altogether.

Any advice on seeking out and paying for the utilities such as power and gas companies ?
Hey, not sure what you mean by ‘seeking out’ utilities...

You phones, are you on pay as you go? Or as a contract?
It’s a contract, but it’s fairly easy to get as a foreigner
Dude take a Sim card ...
Forget the shit slaves contracts.
i dont know the language, how to travel in ukraine hmm
Hey! Language could be a barrier, because not many people speak English. I would advise you learn a couple of useful phrases and words.
