8:26 this switch from chaos too these "mysterious" quiet sounds is so genius and incredible.
one word. Beethoven
It's amazing how Synthesia is able to show the patterns in Beethoven's music. It truly shows the beauty and complexity of his music. Breathtaking...
Tips for people playing this piece: left hand for Allegro e con brio, soft left hand. And please download scores because synthesia does not give fingerings. And most importantly, practice slowly. One week has passed and I am done with 2/3 of the piece. Try it for yourselves. Also one more tip, for the 'grave' section, play with expression and soft left hand with a little bit of rubato. When learning this piece, also look out for common patterns this piece is in AABC format and for part B, same technique but different fingerings and slight modifications to the second half of that part. Part C is just the same, but the second half of part c is just a modulation to f minor instead of E minor.
Thank you my friend!
Nice! I'm currently doing this and your advice really helps! Now I can expect to fluently play this (not yet to master) in two more weeks.
Franz Joseph Haydn you sound like my GCSE music teacher 👨🏫
LOL
Franz Joseph Haydn, good tips! I've been learning the first movement for 4 months, also through with about 2/3 of the piece, your tips might just help me learn the rest and polish my technique!
First movement is my favorite
Ito Fernando same
@MeTuFy
for me it’s tie between 1 and 2. Beethoven virus ruined 3rd movement for me (just heard it to many times)
I'm not sure why, but even among the pieces I hear the first time, Beethoven's music is always recognizable to me. I think it's because most of his pieces are written in a specific minor key, but even in a major key, I recognize him
Tom Marvolo Riddle It is mostly because he transitions into a Minor so fast and has a loudifferent point in most of his compositions that say, "Its Beethoven" When I was listen to "Beethoven's Radio Sation" on Pandora I came across a composition that sounded just like Vivaldi or Mozart, THEN the minor key kicked in and I knew it was Beethoven, He doesn't usually turn the same melody into a darker theme lIke Mozart, but he kicks into a totally different theme and makes it minor, then kicks back into the major key.
Cameron Lewis I know this is an old comment, But how can you tell when it transitions could you give me some examples or A guide kind of thing?
Easy listening..
This took me 8 months to learn. 8 months. So worth it now. My greatest triumph so far ^^
(edit 5 years later: oh my god these replies are all awful, yeah it took 8 months because it was out of my skill level at the time. also no i didnt learn it from this video because sheet music is always better)
+Gui Roul lol the ballade wouldn't really take much
Hungarian Rhaposdy no.2 or create your own hard piece
Good job.
Took me a month to learn the SECOND DARN PAGE
Stan the MAN It's getting it up to speed that is the hard part of it...
3:14 and 4:53 BEST PART OMG! Am so addicted to that part
It is, but I'm trying to play this piece and that part is just like stabbing me every time I try to play it. UGHHHHHH
@@lydia-exe yeaaaa it’s my fav part as well but ITS JUST SO SO HARD especially with my baby hands😭😭
My favorite Beethoven sonata the first movement is so powerfull and the second so soft and emotional but then it gets even better and after that the third movement and i basically have no words for that one.
It's been three days and I can play until 1:50 . Not very well but I'm still proud. Like I've never been this motivated and practiced this much before! I really hope I can stay motivated tho...
2:35 is where it gets dope af. Keep up the good work!
1 day for me and I can play to 0:31
wow you are talented it took me an entire week to learn that
Ive been practicing for 8 years, and in 1 day i can play until 5:14, im in day 2, its getting harder
@@Josh729J love that part it’s easy and I love the pattern but bro my baby hands for 3:08 ARGH I CANNOT😭 I CAN BARELY HIT OCTAVES BRO

Pathetique has something special, like i dont know how to describe.
However. Pat. Is much much better and purer than appassionata, pathetique is to underrated
On principal I agree but the pathetique is really not underrated by any means.
YESSSS AMEEENNNNN
It's underrated considering 14 is better known
I wouldn't say "much much better and purer" but "more stylish and unique, maybe even more epic"
I really like Appassionata, it's even my favourite sonata of Beethoven, but I have to admit that Pathetique has a lot to offer and it can be even better than Appassionata (although I only listened to the 1st movemente of Pathetique, so I don't know about the other 2)
@@user-dg9eb4mc9t Movement 3 is also really good. Movement 2 is a nice Adagio as well.
when i tilt my head 90° to the right it looks like im looking at a beautiful scene on a road trip lol
what
what
what
you mean 45°, don't you?
@@bobderbaumeister9676 No, 90° is a quarter. 45° is just half a quarter.
Beethoven, the one composer considerate of smol bean hands.
Tia Leung Noooo, in the Moonlight Sonata there are some rlly far apart notes (at least for me) R.I.P.
And then you have Liszt...
i've read somewhere that his hands were not that 'big', but im not sure. i did a bit of research that said he had stubby fingers. but others say he had bony, typical pianist hands. for example, that painting of stieler shows his stubby fingers. another one, i forgot who the artist was but it's a painting where only his hands were shown that somewhat looks like the typical pianist hands to me.
Noor More like and then you have R A C H M A N I N O F F (who wrote pieces with 13ths back to back)
And then there are pianist like that guy who can only use his left hand yet can play over multiple octaves
2:36
God yes! that part gives me chills!!
Is amazing
This piece is a lot easier than it looks and sounds. The only thing I found extremely difficult was building up stamina for the tremolo. I suggest people who have put who have put off this piece to have a go.
currently learning this song! I can currently play up until 5:24 from memory
CubicLugion no you can't
CubicLugion Why cant he/she?
Bryan Check because he dont know what he is doing its only about his fingermemory he should read the notes and keep them in memory so he know what he has to play and then he isnt insecure too
I have since then completed the song and used it in a piano competition
The Revelations this guys the jealous type lol
Beethoven have something that make him unique but i dont know what is THAT something
+Diego Quezada You has something that makes you unique and I know what is THAT something
He was death that's what made him unique 👍
That's why there's only one Beethoven!
Ocean See, you mean deaf.
Pain
So far i have learned 1 minute of the song
Its been a very fun way to spend my lunch time ❤️ yesterday and today
I'm still memorizing this and can play up to 5:20 because i cant read music notes. and i practice this on 59 keys only, the part 3:12 doesn't fit it but i can make it fit because i continue the cut part back the the middle. haha
Play the right tempo.
I'm gonna play this for an up coming piano recital 🤩
Me playing this
Left hand: this is fine
Right hand: P a t h e t i q u e
Beautiful
Amazing!!! Just perfect!
2:36 best part
Nasrullah Rinaldi ikr
5:24 My favorite note of the song
😂thats just a cminor chord
@@ludwigvanbeethoven8164 actually, it’s a G minor chord
@@ludwigvanbeethoven8164 I thought you should know, that this was a G-Minor Chord, cuz you're beethoven
Wow. This is a seriously good piece! I was introduced to it by playing Persona 2. Maybe I should learn this sometime.
This one is my favourite.
Just awesome
Beautiful/Hermoso
Right hand at 1:15 has wrong notes...it's E natural, not flat. Same as next chord E natural.
yup
Your right. I play this song. I'm 13, and I even recognize wrong notes!
Xfusion201 I'm 17 , so what? What does age have to do with this?
Xfusion201 And btw you're*
"Its is e natural" it is e natural my friend.
I just learned the end because it’s my favorite part! It took me about 20 mins. I’ve been playing the piano for 2 years and I am self taught, so this tutorials are very helpful. Never thought I could play the end so easily because when I listen to this piece it sounds so difficult! But I have perfect pitch so it helps a bit. Anyways, I hope I can finish it by my birthday. I have to keep watching this tutorial because I hate reading music sheets ( I’ll make corrections to the piece once I learn it completely). Thanks for this video!
A few mistakes I've noticed.
6th measure, right hand, at the fortissimo, begins correct with G, C#, natural E, G
The next 4 notes mistakenly show the E played as E flat, the score marks the natural on the E in this measure.
Natural A, C flat, natural E (video has E flat, but score marks natural E), natural A (played twice)
B flat, C flat, natural E (video has E flat, but score marks natural E), B flat (played twice)
yo this song is pathetique
carlost t this is sonata joke
carlost t we know, and it's called a composition
So was that joke
carlost t wait a minute, I think I have a Liszt of music jokes!
Someone had to do it lmao
genius!!
Soooooooooo great :)
From 1:16 to 1:18 the E is natural, not flat.
Ikr, you are actually right.
How do you have such interpretation with a midi?
8:00
i found another wrong note on left hand in the fastest part. 3:23 it should be D#D#CD# but the video shows D#D#FD#. I was using this video to learn, when I played that part it was so weird
Love the tutorial, just a little mistake: at 1:16 - 1:19, the E♭ in the right hand is supposed to be an E♮
**this is validated by official sheet music and several professional performances**
^i agree
please fix
2:04, you're welcome.
Thanks.
Ehm... I think that music isn't supposed to work this way... there's a thing called climax that give sense to the part that you linked...
Hahaha haha exactly the part I've been searching on,
This was in Yoshi's Island.
@@adamcochrane3867 No it wasn't, you've listened to a song (Room before boss - Yoshi's Island) but from a youtuber that makes very unique remixes, he put the Pathetique and put it to the song because both intros (Pathetique and Room before boss) are pretty similar. That guy remix the songs very well, it sounds very fitting
que bueno es el tutorial
with wich piano are you playing this great pice ???
You use it verry often and it sounds so great. Is it an Bösendorfer ?
Es Hermoso 🤩🤩😌
1:15 the Eb on the right hand is meant to be E natural
This is a song ive been working on for a while on piano and ive gotten to 2:37 and still practicing. My biggest tips for those pianists who are trying to learn this is to really take your time figuring out your hand placements and muscle memory. To do this you can always try right hand only first and when your comfortable you can try both hands. The first half is pretty intermediate so for those beginners, try doing this very slowly and work your tempo up step by step. And for those advanced pianists, make sure to really pay attention to dynamics ( how loud and soft you play) there are a lot of dynamics in this piece. So good luck everyone !
And also watch your pedal.
Well I have a tip for pianists who are in this video do memorize the piece: READ THE GODDAMN SHEET MUSIC/SCORE not just watch a youtube video
no último acorde do compasso 7, o E (Mi) é bequadro...
Algun consejo para que no me duela la mano de las otavas rotas en el allegro?
I like the 3rd movement
it is played by a machine. it hasn't got the beauty of a human playing
Excuse the language, but IT'S A FUCKING TUTORIAL.
+Punished Trump if you want lo learn a piece this is not the way
+Radu Antal for people who don't know how to read piano sheets
Even if they can't. They must learn. And how to learn this at this speed if there are no more slower videos?
+Radu Antal As others have pointed out this is a tutorial. It is in no way meant to capture the 'beauty of a human playing' as you put it - it is a learning resource for those who want it. I can confirm it's effectiveness by saying with confidence I have learned to play around 10 pieces in the past few months to a reasonably high standard (for a beginner,) utilising only tutorials like this one. As for the whole sheet music thing I say it's a load of rubbish - people should learn however they feel comfortable - I for one struggle severely to read sheets at a reasonable pace and these tutorials are a bit of a requiem for me.
I wonder... does anyone else notice the sound leading the visuals by ... I don't know... roughly an eighth-note? And increasing the further in it goes?
In 1:16 the right hand's D# shouldn't be E? Because it sounds a little strange to me
I think there is a mistake at 1:16 . The chord in the right hand is a des e a. And I also believe that it should be played a little bit faster.
Im gonna try n learn this
I quit….
hqhha
i started playing this song in order to compete with someone but really enjoyed it and the second movement :)
Commenting for my reference 2:09
What is the soundfont?
So much harder than the 3rd movement ugh!!
2nd movement is my favorite
Victor P. Second movement sounds awsum but my fav is the first one
rly? this is harder than moonlight sonata 3rd mvt seriously! and also...where can i get the proper sheet music with fingers, the section at 2:40 is extremely difficult bruhhh
That's one of the easiest for me
started working on this today got till 2:30
Did you finish it
@@aleryaniahmed5972 not when I wrote this comment. Ended up getting back to it a couple months ago and finish the sonata in about a week
I can play this movement
Vst plugin which pleaseee
I got the first 2 pages down but is been like 2 months
Same tho 😂😂😂
there is mistake in the midi at 1.15 , its not E flat but just E, it makes way more sense
Have you checked with the original score?
Johan Kustandi Yes, im studying and playing it
Eizan Prime thankyou because im learning it from this video
Tutorial?
1:55 oh yeah, the real shit is about to start
3:45 is famous part
A note in measure 6 is wrong, right hand. with the bass walk down in the 4th beat. The E is flat and it shouldn't be during the A Major and Bb Diminished chords.
How do you do the left and right overlapping thing
Jack 姜 you gotta cross your hands Boi ;) I prefer right over left.
Lots of practice
1:39
can you email me the sheet music or the arrangement?? please
Use IMSLP.org
2:00 when im a quarter way through my shit and i smell my tendies burning in the oven
I never realized how insane this looked when I played it ._.
This is Pathetique.
1:16 there is a mistake with the E
This looks very hard but I'm sure it's not as hard as Appasionata. This looks like a 7 or 8 on the difficulty scale.
out of 30, I would rate this a 17
that's how I rate songs
Clement Liu Rate Mazeppa by Liszt
@@oweeen976
pretty late but mazeppa would be 30/30 along with feux folle and that other one of which I forgot the name
I play both and Appasionata 1st movement is way harder, Appasionata is even more difficult than moonlight sonata 3rd movement
🖤🖤🖤
2:00 to 2:04 what is that called? Cant remember!
chromatic scale?
yes, thanks.
+Freddie Mercury Hey freddie! How are you doing these days?
Pretty well, I'm a bit bored though...
Freddie Mercury Ah well, we all miss you :'(
I think it was a fairly extended and interesting play of the pathetic 😅
Can do up to 0:30 :p
same high five :D
Apparently everyone on this comment section can play. Smelling sour grapes. Come back when you truly appreciate the finesse of Beethoven's work. Rather than fabricate about your accomplishments.
MineGames I can’t play but my mum used to , and now I’m listening as she only got so far , never heard this much before it’s stunning
6:43
pause at 5:08
a little bit slow, but good so far, i play it now, but with a book

great so my friend knows how to play this at age 11.
Asian?
do you guys think that moonlight sonata 3rd movement is harder than this?
Frédéric Chopin YES
How do you know Liszt ?
I've played both
Franz Joseph Liszt
ur pathetique
Chopin is way better than you, and nice try on La Campanella
Kai Eom okay
I got here thru SilvaGunner... of all people. Great work tho
I can do this easily on piano tiles 2
Really hard one. I studied it for 2 months and I can play only 1 page, now im quit with this song lol
berlin express the first page is actually pretty doable... once you‘re done with the main part which is a bit tricky but short the rest is mostly repeating... dont give up! 💪
Around 5:10 for me atleast, the notes came in early.
Which is harder? Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 or Sonata Pathetique 1st Movement
Apparently Gaming this is easy compared to HR no. 2
Hungarian rhapsody is harder my friend👊
