    In this video we go through how to make a leather wet molded axe sheath. This is my personal axe that I carry on all bushcraft adventures. It makes a great beater axe for camping and bushcraft activities. Sorry for the breathing, was congested!

    I dig it too! I agree with Mr. Bummer-sauce, way below, who suggested editing out the squeaky sped-up voice track, but I also realize that's just what time lapse does and we're not all Joe Film Editor Guru-daddies. Knowing a bit about this, there were a few parts I wished you reverted to normal speed and showed us some detail on, like the application of the antiquing finish to get those awesome shadowed areas. That's the trick of editing -- definitely don't need to see every last stitch or all the wait time while gluing, but the special techniques are good to see, as everyone does 'em a little differently. She really came out sweet, Jeff -- keep up the good work -- and beautiful place! God's country.

    Please don't take this as disrespectful, your video and work is great; but if you had divided it into chapters it would be great for everyone. I respectfully repeat, if you could divide it up and upload it again I would at least spend hours looking at it.
    Great job 👏👍🤝

    Awesome leather work. I love the olderTrue Temper and Plumb brand rigging axes like that as they are very handy. I carried one as a "truck axe" for years until finally modified it and made me a 20 inch curved handle for it. The large pole works great to pound in wedges when felling trees. The older rigging axes like yours with the thicker bit and waffle faced hammer head are becoming hard to find too and they are made from good American steel and hold a very good edge. Awesome work and axe sir.

    Fantastic job man i planned to do the same thing and scouted the net to find your quite helpful video. Seems it turned out a bit tighter than you would have liked so with all I learned from your video i thought I'd might help by pointing out that you could tape a couple of thin shims to the back side of the hatchet before wet molding to lift it up off the the wood just a hair to buy you a bit of wiggle room.

    great job. going to make one inspired by yours. my bushcraft axe handle is much broader near the head and the back of my axe is squared off. So should consider the differences before the job. (Hultafors Agdor)

    As someone starting out with new experiments with leather I can say that if you are going to talk during a "tutorial" we need to hear your instructions when you speak, otherwise it's not a tutorial. Just a high-speed video.

    Great job and great video! I noticed that you stained the leather and then glued it. Does it not matter if the leather is stained or not for the glue to work? Does it matter what kind of glue or does it matter what kind of stain? Thanks and have a good one.

    • @JeffsTrades
      @JeffsTrades  Год назад +1

      depending on the stain....for this stain it does not matter, but I always scratch the area being glued first anyway to prep it to receive the glue. Sorry for taking so long to respond.

    Ok I can deal with the video playing in a fast mode but not the stupid squeaky voice. That was just annoying and completely unnecessary. I feel that it detracts from what otherwise would have been a really good video. Instead you end up with something akin to a joke that isn’t funny. Sorry to say this video gets a thumbs down.
