Geez, I have never seen acola switching off of Steve in a last ditch position before, and both of his secondaries definitely didn't seem to be up to par. I did notice that he was dropping so much stuff throughout the set that he normally gets with no problem, likely either from exhaustion and/or tournament nerves, so I guess he needed a change of scenery going to Kazuya and Aegis. I think you can think spargo the best while also acknowledging acola has talent and he’s a grinder too, regardless of Steve you don’t dominate a whole region unless you have skill plus he was taking names when he was playing dk and Luigi
@@Tent112 disagree, Sparg0, Tweek and Leo are winning tournaments with mid tier characters and have won tournaments with multiple characters consistently. Acola is just a really proficient Steve player. So I wouldn't say Sparg0 is carried by Cloud. He just happens to main cloud but is really good at the game. Acola is pretty good at the game, not a top player, who mains a specific character that equalizes the playing field with top players. Most people understand that. Thats why his Kazuya and Aegis were two stocks, not even competative games. Its an overall skill difference.
@@lifeoftoast1864 all three of them play high-top tier characters and acola has gotten wins in the past with donkey Kong and Luigi and his kaz and aegis have taken sets off of top 20 players recently, without Steve I don’t think he would be number 1 but he would still be at least a top 20 player we shouldn’t diminish that just bc he plays Steve
Let this be a lesson for everyone, not because you use broken characters makes you the best in the world. MKLeo and Sparg0 proved it. Sparg0 is the next successor to Leo.
Acola was Trashed so awfuly in this Grands that he swapped off Steve into Kazuya and Aegiss! I don't think we have ever seen this before and I wonder what Acola is going to do character-wise considering that he officialy has a Cloud problem.
@l.n.3372 Yup, there's been other japanese Clouds that have taken games off Acola but never the set. Spargo has straight up dominated Acola for their past 3 sets now and at this point is Acola's bracket demon.
I honestly don’t know either. I don’t think Acola stands a chance against the top players with anyone but Steve. He just doesn’t have the skill to effectively pilot any character with fewer tools at that level.
@BryGuyJohn I kinda agree, Acola has essentially come across what is now his bracket demon and is contemplating even using Steve against Sparg0. When he switched to Kazuya, you could immediately notice how much more scared he was playing compared to how Riddles or Tea play Kazuya. He lost the moment he switched off Steve, there was now way in hell his Aegis or Kazuya were ready for Sparg0 of all people but it doesn't they can't be ready in future.
Bro when Acola went Kazuya and got DEMOLISHED the first 2 stocks i imagined Tea being like "WTF MAN!!? That Kazuya gives me nightmares and this kid is bodying him!" 😂😂😂
The Acola Secondaries aren't a Joke, but he just was against the wave. The mentality chance wasn't enough. But yeah, he got bodied, the experience of Spargo in his sets versus Riddles really shine there
The most satisfying moment in ultimate history. Sparg0at Single handedly saving this game. I don’t think the smash community could handle another steve (Acola) W.
Acolas Aegis was just as bad of an option as sticking with Steve. Heck, his Aegis did better than half of his Steve games so was it really "a bad pick"? Acola did collect some data and also Sparg0 says Aegis beats Cloud so I could see Acola winning with Aegis in the future. Either that, or it'll be Aegis dittos.
The matchup is a slight win for Cloud, pretty doable for Steve and pretty sure the Spargo factor is important here, not everyone or any Cloud could beat Steve that well. amazing tournament !
Indeed, not any Cloud could do it. Last week, Acola beat Nao, a mario main with a cloud secondary(which he used for the full set against acola), and it wasn't really close at all.
Bruh its legit cloud favored. The argument of Sparg0 carrying cloud, the same can be said about acola with steve. As broken as the character is I dont see other steves in contention for top 10-20 (global)
Spargo be like "Steve who?" For real who the hell beats up a Steve this badly? And that was the world's best Steve by a mile. What the heck does his mom feed him? o_o
I watched this live, and then rewatched it slowly to take note of things, Acola played terrible. He looked very shaken and nervous from the very start. Holy sh!t!! Sparg0d is from another world!! He didn't care about broken DLC characters, he played godly everytime.
Smash community try to be civil challenge(IMPOSSIBLE)
@MordeyMay , right? So much whining in the community instead of people just overcoming bad match-ups, etc
@@mordeymay3739 for real lol
I really don’t want to disrespect Acola since he’s a super respectful kid, but man, the first thing that came to mind watching this set was “Pure grind and talent vs cheese”. Spargo played out of his mind on this finals, Jesus, hoping he’s the next one that gets the best player in the world crown. Sets de los gods maestro🙌🏻
I think you can think spargo the best while also acknowledging acola has talent and he’s a grinder too, regardless of Steve you don’t dominate a whole region unless you have skill plus he was taking names when he was playing dk and Luigi
@@Tent112 carried by Steve doh
@@lifeoftoast1864 to an extent everyone is carried by their main and at the end of the day everyone has the same character selection screen
@@lifeoftoast1864 all three of them play
high-top tier characters and acola has gotten wins in the past with donkey Kong and Luigi and his kaz and aegis have taken sets off of top 20 players recently, without Steve I don’t think he would be number 1 but he would still be at least a top 20 player we shouldn’t diminish that just bc he plays Steve
Let this be a lesson for everyone, not because you use broken characters makes you the best in the world. MKLeo and Sparg0 proved it. Sparg0 is the next successor to Leo.
what does broken charcter mean?
The Sparg0 Cloud is the only thing I trust to beat Acola’s Steve. No answer for that Cloud bair.
They Forgot to put Kazuya in the Title 💀
Dude had to come back to watch this whoppin! Damn acola got bish-slaped! Props to Japan! Props to the new KING Sparg0at!!!
Acola was Trashed so awfuly in this Grands that he swapped off Steve into Kazuya and Aegiss! I don't think we have ever seen this before and I wonder what Acola is going to do character-wise considering that he officialy has a Cloud problem.
*Sparg0 problem. No other cloud is on Sparg0 level.
@l.n.3372 Yup, there's been other japanese Clouds that have taken games off Acola but never the set. Spargo has straight up dominated Acola for their past 3 sets now and at this point is Acola's bracket demon.
@@Lavi_BT12
Sparg0 is just peak cloud played right.
As a Cloud main player, this gives me hope, elite smash waits for me, when I get time to get back in the game though
We on top
@@lifeoftoast1864 we can do it!
Acola bustin out the three literally most broken characters in the game vs the spargod
No Pay to Win here, boy! This is actual talent. ❤❤
Most respectful commenter.
@@mordeymay3739 😍
There's no such thing as pay to win in Ultimate, or else, there'd be nothing but FP1 and 2 in competitive play.
@@h0m3st4r It's a form of speech, kid.
Si Acola usando a los tres personajes mas rotos de smash no pudo con spargo que mas pruebas quieren para saber quién es el mejor 1vs 1
GG's Sparg0 you truly are a beast and I'm sure Acola will come back stronger
Bro when Acola went Kazuya and got DEMOLISHED the first 2 stocks i imagined Tea being like "WTF MAN!!? That Kazuya gives me nightmares and this kid is bodying him!" 😂😂😂
The Acola Secondaries aren't a Joke, but he just was against the wave. The mentality chance wasn't enough. But yeah, he got bodied, the experience of Spargo in his sets versus Riddles really shine there
Sparg0 is just Leo 2.0, he is also the main character.
Bro had him in the infinite tsukuyomi with those mixups
Underrated comment. Also Sparg0 must've learn it from Yaura because he also had Sparg0 trapped in the mix ups 😂.
Bam, Strides, Charles, legendary commentary trio. Congrats Spargo!
Anyone notice the boost at 3:34? How did Cloud move so fast?
anvil does that on fast chars
Watching Steves get demolished is like watching the Packers get demolished. Incredibly satisfying.
Spargo es muy bueno, tremenda paliza que le dió ha Acola.
lol, the disrepect, not even waiting for the last game to conclude they just update the score the moment Cloud got an F-smash
The most satisfying moment in ultimate history. Sparg0at Single handedly saving this game. I don’t think the smash community could handle another steve (Acola) W.
I love coming back and rewatching this to see Acola get dumpstered
Why did bro aegis against the best aegis player
Despair of been unable to stop this monster in your home
It was a desperation pick.
Isn't shuton best aegis player? Genuinely asking.
@@boobaahsworld8282I thought it was between leo and spargo 💀
Sparg0 beating steve, kazuya and aegis showing us it's up to how good you are you with fighter. Mexicans are everywhere a huevo 🎉
The matchup is a slight win for Cloud, pretty doable for Steve and pretty sure the Spargo factor is important here, not everyone or any Cloud could beat Steve that well. amazing tournament !
Steve cloud is definitely Steve favored lol, let’s not forget that sparg0 carries cloud
@@trymacs4511 true!
@@trymacs4511 No way it's Steve favored. It's definitively Cloud favored. By how much is the question.
It’s crazy how Spargo wasn’t sponsored until recently. Faze has themselves a legend
Spargo be like "Steve who?" For real who the hell beats up a Steve this badly? And that was the world's best Steve by a mile. What the heck does his mom feed him? o_o
I've never seen acola so lost in a set before. What an insane performant from Sparg0.
?
Mkleo le ganó 3-0 dos veces en un mismo torneo.
No es la primera vez que vemos ese desempeño de su parte.
Sparg0 totally ate Acola's soul and self faith... XD
Him throwing his head back at the end in relief as if winning that was a challenge for him.
nah probably just relief from the exhaustion of his insane 11 set losers run. i'd feel that way too haha
He made the best and longest losers run since Leo's Frostbite 2020. I'd imagine a large majority of top players would be exhausted.
*”THAT’S WHY HE’S THE GOAT!! THE GOOOOAAAT!!”*
"THAT'S WHY HE'S EVERYTHING"
Most brutal domination / skill issue I’ve seen in a final in ages. I love seeing block man getting bodied.
I watched this live, and then rewatched it slowly to take note of things, Acola played terrible. He looked very shaken and nervous from the very start. He usually plays with thought and intentionality but this GF he didnt play well. Personally, I prefer steve losing, but I hope Acola is able to overcome his nerves in the future.
And to my knowledge this is the first non-Japan player to not win a tournament in Japan. Crazy stuff.
17:46 can someone please tell me why does steve has intangibility when he regrabs the ledge?

Nah bro. Acola was sandbagging so people stop saying Steve should be banned.
Didn't MKLEO won a Japanese EVO before?
Yes, back in smash 4.
Crazy how hard cloud has to work to outplay these fighter pass 2 characters
Sparg0 is just the goat AND the main character.
