    Hello mate really appreciate this video
    Got exactly same simulator but never used it for a MAF thank you for that learned something new mate
    Great watching you

      It's a very good tool, leads are poor quality but the tool itself is a great addition to the toolkit 👍

    I think the ecu is effecting to the MAF because of other things like an evap or bad o2 sensor

  • @mike-yp1uk
    @mike-yp1uk Год назад

    Spray a little brake clean on the intake gasket or on whatever is making the hissing sound and see what the O2 sensor does. It will go rich.

    hi steve just thinking out loud but by increasing the maf voltage your telling the computer a larger volume of air is coming into the engine and the computer is adjusting the fueling accordingly to keep it around 14.7 to 1 making it richer but you are not increasing the actual volume of air going into the engine only tricking the ecu into reaacting creating a rich mixture . which appears to be a great a great way changing the voltage at the maf to check o2 response ???. what effect would a egr leak have ?? as the maf readings are low and the oxygen senors are low lean not enough oxygen in the system ??

      @wardybasher 4 года назад

      A partially open EGR would definitely reduce the oxygen content within the engine causing a lean mixture to be detected by the oxygen sensors. I am surprised it’s running so well if this is the fault.

    Are rich readings with correct MAF voltage now proving theres no fuel delivery problem and is it the other end of the engine which is blocked exhaust?

      Hmm Time to remove the rear O2 sensor to see if the fuel trims improve?

    Hows that sensor simulator connect?, earth obviously, but do you put a positive voltage down the back probed signal wire, while connected?, thanks

    • @SimplyDiagnostics
      @SimplyDiagnostics  4 года назад +1

      Yes Andy, that's exactly how it works, not on all systems and components though. There are times when you have to disconnect 👍

    I'm sure the weather is lovely in Cheshire, but 35 degrees, we're not in the Mojave desert, could this be an air density issue? Anyway, I'd love to see an exhaust gas analysis, is it rich or is it lean?

    • @SimplyDiagnostics
      @SimplyDiagnostics  4 года назад

      5 gas would have been awesome, unfortunately I didn't have one to hand. I think being in direct sunlight skewed the temp readings, it was a very hot day. When I took baseline readings earlier in the day everything was normal. The symptoms were still present.

    • @toppledgod

      Re: the 35 degrees air temperature reading, is that a reading from the intake thermistor or is it the outside air temperature monitor? and by extension is there a PID for the intake thermistor?

    I would check fuel trims at speed and see if they reacting to rich/lean conditions and gets worse point towards maf but your reading seemed low and you're vol measurement low may be pointing to in cylinder analysis checking pressure exhaust ETA engine may not be breathing properly in out *dam lockdown* brain abit rusty I take it fuel pressure is all good to spec

    Am I wrong. Isnt this s wide band O2 sensor, so V below zero is Rich and above zero is Lean>>> I think you described it the other way?

    • @SimplyDiagnostics
      @SimplyDiagnostics  4 года назад +1

      Yes, for wideband +ve current = lean, -ve current = rich, lambda 1= lean for conventional 4 wire zirconia sensors 0.2v is lean, 0.8v is rich

    • @alexmessina3383
      @alexmessina3383 4 года назад +1

      @@SimplyDiagnostics Thanks. This is a V conversion in the ECU? Converting the O2 V to a mimic a conventional narrow band 0V-1V range. Is that what we're seeing? We wouldn't see 0-1V at the O2 sensor with a scope??

    • @alexmessina3383
      @alexmessina3383 4 года назад

      Hang on. the V reading is the B1 S2 post cat narrow band. I that what's confusing me?? I thought it was a current and v reading for the same pre-cat sensor

    • @SimplyDiagnostics
      @SimplyDiagnostics  4 года назад +2

      No mate, wideband sensors look at current, there's no diagnostic value in looking at voltage on these 👍

  • @mike-yp1uk
    @mike-yp1uk Год назад

    I was really surprised that you didn't test the MAF with a wide open rev. This test proves nothing. Maybe a vacuum leak but without a change in Air volume we don't know anything.
