Hello Tim, I'm all caught up on your magnificent videos! Have a wonderful weekend. Tonight Fri going down to 11°overnight. Waiting for April to move back down to sunny Florida I don't want leave early and get stuck on I-95
I hate to say anything but I’m almost positive that’s wrong. That’s made to literally mount the expansion tank to the bracket to all your doing is putting pressure on the piping not supporting anything
Yeah this is wrong. I'm not a plumber but the purpose of this bracket is so the weight of the tank is not on your piping. Even the instructions on the box says to mount the tank on the bracket aligning the notch with the one in the tank.
I had to check and see if this was posted on April 1st (it wasn’t) cause I thought he was just messing with us. I did go pull the instructions on this and it very clearly shows the tank is supposed to be touching that bracket.
The guy who bought our house had it inspected (as he should) and the inspector said we’ve got to support the expansion tank somehow. There’s no walls within 2 feet of the heater. Not sure how I’m going to do that?
That is a bunch of hogg wash, having to install strapping that will possibly cause a pipe failure , Thanks for another great video Tim , I'm thinking that is just a money thing, someone is get rich by paying off the man to install crap that is completely useless.
🤦🏼♂️ 1 brass. Tee. No need for a strap. Tee on the tank nipple, cpvc x brass mip in the side of tee, expansion tank top of tee. Does the code that you're referring to, say strap for expansion tank period or only if supported by cpvc vs galvanize, brass, or copper? Codes are always changing.
Is that tank just for mobile homes? I have never seen one attached to a water heater. No disrespect to you but that strap is a joke. Have a bless day and stay healthy.
You should remove this video; it is showing inaccurate and harmful information. The tank should be installed up against the vertical bracket. The way you have the two straps around the tank are actually putting tension on the pipe and could cause it to leak or break.
That is so ridiculous! Tanks have never been a problem and I've never seen one fall over. They have nothing else better to do than make up these silly new codes because they're looking for something to do.
The box shows tank up against bracket , I think you need to install it correctly. The way you installed it ,it's not doing anything
exactly
Sorry, that is just plain wrong. Tank mounts directly to bracket.
Your right
Thanks! Was messing around with these straps until I watched your video.
Great video Tim, nice tip, we don't use that in South Texas but good to know! Remain blessed and keep the video's coming 👍
good stuff Tim...txs for sharing

Looks like he needed to put piece of 2x4 or something between tank and bracket and then tighten it nicely.
Look it up on the internet it’s supposed to lay against the bracket and you pipe to it
The tank should be mounted to the bracket before running pipe to it. Love your videos Tim but you may have screwed up on this one.
If it’s so wrong
Why does it pass inspection every time?

Are you keeping it from falling out. You install it wrong. Do you have plumbing license?
Not trying to be mean sorry this is wrong, thank should mount directly on the wall. The bracket is made to support the weight

LMFAO I cannot believe you posted this
It must be against the tank must be against the wall to be properly supported
They make you guys earthquake strap the expansion tank but no straps on the water heater?
Hey Tim, I own my own plumbing company in Tampa called “Da Drain Fellas”. Is it code now for all heaters to have the quick strap?
You need a video that corrects the install of this bracket. You got it all wrong.
The guy who bought our house had it inspected (as he should) and the inspector said we’ve got to support the expansion tank somehow. There’s no walls within 2 feet of the heater. Not sure how I’m going to do that?

Don't even know if that's code in California,, have to look and the book and see if it is !

Is this a joke?
That is not the proper way to install that bracket
Wtf
It's wrong all the way. The bracket supports nothing. The tank has to be strapped tight to the bracket.
