    Soap & Clay is a family owned business operating in Washington State, but started out online thanks to Mrs. Soap & Clay's kickass brother and his amazing web design skills. The business was started as a tribute to Mrs. Soap & Clay's grandmother, the OG maker in the family that cultivated everyone's love for the DIY life. The studio/retail shop opened in 2017 on 6th Ave in Tacoma, and immediately began teaching soap, bath bomb, lotion, and scrub classes to the makers and maker enthusiasts of the PNW. In 2019, the pottery studio opened as well, making the soap shop a busy place full of artistic energy every minute of the day.
    Mrs. Soap & Clay has been featured on Business Spotlight, New Day Northwest, and was awarded a coveted place on the South Sound's 40 under 40 list in 2019, an award given to the most influential business people under the age of 40 each year. She cried when she walked up to the podium to accept the award. A lot.
    Drawing from her chemistry background and her maker spirit, Mrs. Soap & Clay infuses her favorite things into her soapy designs and creates products that are fun to see, use, and learn to make. Stick around for this ride - she'll take you on a great one.

    Seriously, soapcalc is not as scary as it looks, and it’s a really powerful tool for you to learn. It’s all about that fatty acid profile, baby!

    So much good information, a great deal to disseminate (for me, at least). This will make things so much easier for all of us in the long run so thanks so much for sharing your vast amount of knowledge - it is direly needed (at least as far as I'm concerned).

    Thanks so much for this. I've just watched videos 1 - 4 and learned a huge amount. I have watched others but no one is as thorough and confident as you! May I just clarify - you ignore trace entirely and just look at emusion? Also, how long would you leave this particular soap for? - you didn't mention that. Thanks again

    This has to be the BEST video I’ve seen explaining the oil profiles. I love learning what each type offers and how to create some amazing bars for me. I’m a hobbyist so cost isn’t too much of a worry. Lol. But Thank you for sharing this great info!!!

    have you done a video on the differences between aquamarines, micas, dyes, liquid colorants, etc.? And why some are not good for bath bombs, soaping while others are??? I am sooooo confused about all of that. THANK YOU for how to get the most out of soapcalc.

    OMG a I have been using soapcalc for years and never realised if you click on an oil it gives you that oils properties…all this time I’ve been putting an oil I. At 100% to get the info…I feel such a dumbass 🤣 thank you for sharing this video. I wasn’t going to watch this as I’ve been looking at fatty acid profiles for years, but as they say, everyday is a school day 💕💕

    Is there in ideal ratio of Sat:Unsat? Like does 50:50 mean a well balanced recipe?

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  2 года назад

      Not really; that ratio depends on the soapmaker and what they prefer in a soap. Unsaturated fats are generally the liquid oils, and the saturated are the solids (which tend to lend to a higher cleansing number and bigger bubble).

    • @vee8022
      @vee8022 2 года назад

      @@MrsSoapAndClay thank you! I have been thinking that 50:50 meant well balanced. So if I had more liquid oils would my recipe stay thinner longer?

    • @PoogieWoogie12
      @PoogieWoogie12 2 года назад

      @@vee8022 hi! Late reply! In theory, yes, more liquid oils can = thinner batter, but you have to be careful where it can also product a softer bar, slimier lather, etc etc. you still want to keep those numbers well balanced. Mrs has shared a couple recipes for swirls blends in the past here on the channel, try a couple of those out to get a feel for it and then try making your own blends!
