I will do that. At the moment I only have the 2 accordions which are both 'rod type' but I will do a video on one as soon as I get hold of that type of accordion. I'm not an accordion repairer by trade (im in electronics) but I'm very gratefull to you for giving your input. Thanks.
The spndle bar has got to be removed. Grip it and then pull and tap the tool so as to pull the bar out. It will take some time but you just have to take the chance. Its no good as it is so your not going to lose anyway.
If you could send a picure or a drawing of the problem it would give me a clearer picture of whats happening, I think I understand that you have snapped off the rod which goes from the top to bottom of the accordion keyboard. Do not oil anything on an accordion is the rule and I would keep to that. Using my imagination I would now try to clamp something onto the end of the rod and to do this you may have to open the area around the rod where it has snapped off and clamp on some grips to the rod.
Thanks for your video accordioncafe! Learned lots from observing your work. One of my keys (a treble key, middle F) is slightly raised above the other keys, and that note plays when I squeeze and open the accordion (without pressing the key down). Any thoughts on the problem? Perhaps something is stuck down there? There's a repair shop near me, might be best if I let them deal with it (rather than risk the safety of the accordion!). Thanks again!
If its an expensive accordion take it to the shop. If its just a less expensive accordion which you do not rely on for stage use I would have a go first. Put it on a table bass down on the bass strap. Remove the treble grill and look carefully and closely at the pads and connecting arms to the keys. just simply look. DO NOT push down on the key and the arm (very tempting) or you may break the key off the connecting lever. By careful study and retreat then another look tomorrow you may see the problem is that you need the proper bending/ alignment tools. Very simple tools but essential if your new to aligning keys. Think about the way the key needs to be bent and also that you will have to align the pad again WITHOUT putting stress on the pad or you'll break it out of its fixing. Know when to stop and if you do go bad then stop and take it to the shop asking them very humbly to sort out your problem.
I think you must make a decision. What have you got to lose if it goes bad. You could take it to a repairer. Or go all out and do it yourself even if it goes bad. You say it is an old accordion and I take it you paid very little for it so I would go ahead and open up the area around the rod. This is a Piano accordion isnt it. When you open up the hole get some grips on it and then gently tap on the rod. Can you send me a photo of the accordion and the problem area.
thanks for showing us the inner working , wont be too scared to have a go at repairing my ancient Hohner Verdi , cheers

Contined . . I am wondering if using a freezing spray on the rod would shrink it. I've never tried this so be carefull. NO OIL.
