I recommend to them that they watch and appreciate the patience you give to every detail, and to understand the extreme values you apply. With instant gratification in most everything they do (damned computers) they are not used to the idea that one can work weeks and months on a single illustration or artwork. Cheers, Jono.

      @@mickygala3557 of course not, but it is one of the best methods, especially if your goal is to attain "artistic eye", ability to lay down exact proportions just with looking on reference, without using grid or any other help. Basically, it takes shortest time, while some other methods are less efficient (using them will eventually take you on that level, but it will take more time). Using grid or something like that is not a sin, remember that.

    Love your work.why do you wet the paper before sketching?

    • @ronaldoningthoujam2495
      @ronaldoningthoujam2495 5 лет назад +3

      It is because he wants the paper to be stick to the table . What i mean by sticking is no air bubbles under the paper. Just like you put a wet towel on the table and leave it to dry it will render the towel perfectly flat , no ripples.

    • @smoog
      @smoog 5 лет назад +1

      Wetting helps with saturation of the graphite and helps with blending. I think it might also help flatten the paper out so it doesn't roll up or wrinkle.

    This is Beautiful! It's really a skill to have patience, every small amount of drawing really comes together to form what this masterpiece is. Its possible for even amateur artists to achieve this if you look at the bigger picture and have patience for the smallest details when you need to. Not everything is impossible.

      coronavirusiscoming it is, idk what that dude is talking about. not using references actually increases how professional and experienced u are in that category or style. im an artist as well, but i always need references to paint and draw. we all just need more practice.

    • @coronavirusiscoming3461
      @coronavirusiscoming3461 4 года назад +5

      Fluffy Panda literally like how is it a bad thing? Using references is how you start. Professional artists barely even need references, such as Jono. He has had years of experience to the point where he doesn’t need references. It is, as u said a matter of more practice

    • @topperakista
      @topperakista 4 года назад +17

      Apparently, you have never read a book on the Renaissance era. Having a reference is the same as having a subject in front of you and a whole lot of the most beautiful paintings during that time had someone pose in front of them as ‘reference’. It also doesn’t matter if your have a reference or not, it’s how you interpret them. That’s how the artistry comes in.

      Jr Montoya I don't think that level of photorealism is possible without a reference, seeing as all the intricate crevices of hands are pretty much impossible to memorize seeing as there are so many especially on a micro/macro scale (micro details, macro canvas).

      This one here is real art man. The hundreds of hours it takes is deserving of respect and should be regarded as a higher form than modern day shit abstract.
