Thank you so much for uploading this interpretation of Triana. My perception of this piece was dominated by Alicia de Larrochas marvelous but thunderous version. Gustavo follows the score closely, and there you find that "tranquilement", "doux", and "bien chanté" far outnumber the fff's. I'm studying Triana right now and it's a very difficult piece but obviously not impossible, even for an amateur such as me. Thanks to Gustavo for this wonderful insight into this beautiful piece of Spanish musical heritage.

She was, of course, a Frank Marshall student, as was De Larrocha, and has her own very special way with this great music (and was killed, tragically, in a plane crash). Marc-Andre Hamelin has the technique, certainly, does some beautiful things. and also deserves mention when Iberia performances are discussed. I must say I was a bit shocked by how much I disliked Barenboim's attempt. He falls short technically *and* musically, in my opinion. It's surprising to hear someone who understands Beethoven so well go as far astray as he does in this music (my opinion, of course).

2020: Tirana is a Sevilla, Spain city neighborhood with a statue of Mexican composer, Agustin Lara seen as U cross over bridge. Restaurants all alongside bridge , even bateaux Moche! Bullring a must all during fiesta! Best time to visit: Easter week and Fiesta week; after visit Cadiz, ES to Fatima, Portugal.

This is masterful playing, far beyond "not a bad performance", in my opinion. He conquers the technical obstacles with seeming ease (for contrast, watch Daniel Baremboim sweat his way through it, pushed to the limit of his ability). Having done that, he gives us what Albeniz wrote and then adds his own subtle touches. All done with beautiful sound and great clarity, letting us hear what needs to be heard in a very dense piece.
