There were as many ukrainian troops in the Red Army as there were russians (not even counting the independent partisans). Russian nationalism was suppressed and ukrainian nationalism flourished. Most of the military equipment was manufactured in Ukraine.

For some reason I never once played a dark path in this mod. When the world is already that messed up, changing it for the better becomes a righteous struggle, and struggle is what's interresting- not maintaining the status quo by keeping the world as dark and depressing as it was at the start.
So far I have played the WRRF and the Buryat ASSR, both very optimistic, democratic and utopian. And the Black League which is just a Russian fascism that turns its own people into slaves to annihilate Germany
Honestly, sometimes when I played TNO and when I think about it, I sometimes forget that it is even a HOI4 mod and that I am literally playing HOI4. The impact of the lore of TNO is so powerful that it has become its own thing.
I genuinely enjoy playing TNO, but no wars? Correct, but the mod is more like a Interactive novel. Played the mod probably for hundreds of hours and there aren't many paths I haven't taken
This mod is nothing more than a scripted minimally interactive novel. If you are meant to win, you win. If you aren't, you don't. Part of what allows the devs to work on and add so many walls of texts to this mod is the fact that they don't need to contemplate a "what if".
God it would be amazing if it happened, and just at the end it shows a low shot of someone approaching, planting a flag, and then as the camera slowly rises it begins playing Sacred War as it shows the Black League’s army marching in time with the beat.

There's an alt history prompt called "Thor Meets Captain America: 15 years Onwards" that kinda fills that criteria. It highlights how human ingenuity and tenacity sparks hopeful triumphs over even gods and a seemingly unstoppable Nazi force. It's a pretty interesting read
I literally fucking cried playing as OMSK, I had started the Great trial, as I got closer to Berlin the bombs started falling, when it was done I was just taken to a map with all of the countries gone and declared anarchies, the little map in the bottom right with a note saying “All gone” on it and all of the controls being unavailable, rusted and glass cracked, I literally shed a tear right there realising what I had caused, this mod just hits you mentally so hard.
I swear to god, Ive managed to play TNO only once. But the lore was so fu*** terrifying unlike the HOI4 normal one. Hehe tank go brrrr. In TNO it made me reconsider my humanity while playing the Germans and going full Na** boy.
I think TNO just makes it all the more clear how bare bones and boring the HOI4 gameplay is. The fact it can be put in the background on a more lore-driven, choose your own adventure type of game and it works better than with it being the main focus of the game (as in vanilla) really makes me wish that the TNO devs were the ones who got my money instead of PDX.
This is unrelated, but I think Lex Luthor would make a great leader for burgundy, the only difference is that that it would be a bit... Corporate, if you will.
There isn't really much to it besides lore, you're locked at a certain pace and you can't really do a lot of focus-trees that DON'T involve/centralize the politics of whatever country you play as
Burgundy is really nerfed. And it's kinda sucks. Trying in realism for SS-state, in mod, where someone like Velimir and Tabby can actually unify Russia...wtf?

For some reason I never once played a dark path in this mod. When the world is already that messed up, changing it for the better becomes a righteous struggle, and struggle is what's interresting- not maintaining the status quo by keeping the world as dark and depressing as it was at the start.

Honestly, sometimes when I played TNO and when I think about it, I sometimes forget that it is even a HOI4 mod and that I am literally playing HOI4. The impact of the lore of TNO is so powerful that it has become its own thing.

This mod is nothing more than a scripted minimally interactive novel. If you are meant to win, you win. If you aren't, you don't. Part of what allows the devs to work on and add so many walls of texts to this mod is the fact that they don't need to contemplate a "what if".

You can always play as the US, Speer's Germany, Sablin's USSR or the Divine Mandate of Russia.
There's an alt history prompt called "Thor Meets Captain America: 15 years Onwards" that kinda fills that criteria. It highlights how human ingenuity and tenacity sparks hopeful triumphs over even gods and a seemingly unstoppable Nazi force. It's a pretty interesting read
I literally fucking cried playing as OMSK, I had started the Great trial, as I got closer to Berlin the bombs started falling, when it was done I was just taken to a map with all of the countries gone and declared anarchies, the little map in the bottom right with a note saying “All gone” on it and all of the controls being unavailable, rusted and glass cracked, I literally shed a tear right there realising what I had caused, this mod just hits you mentally so hard.

I swear to god, Ive managed to play TNO only once. But the lore was so fu*** terrifying unlike the HOI4 normal one. Hehe tank go brrrr. In TNO it made me reconsider my humanity while playing the Germans and going full Na** boy.
I think TNO just makes it all the more clear how bare bones and boring the HOI4 gameplay is. The fact it can be put in the background on a more lore-driven, choose your own adventure type of game and it works better than with it being the main focus of the game (as in vanilla) really makes me wish that the TNO devs were the ones who got my money instead of PDX.

There isn't really much to it besides lore, you're locked at a certain pace and you can't really do a lot of focus-trees that DON'T involve/centralize the politics of whatever country you play as
it's a detailed beginner-level story, so if you are someone who wants realism and will be triggered if there isnt, youll get mad at tno
it's just wattpad level writing and looking at your focus tree for 69 hours

TNO was so unbelievably boring.
Hoi4 was a terrible platform for it. They honestly should've just made a standalone game.
I think TNO is just not meant to be played as much as it's meant to be discovered. It tells many stories in a fresh way, but why read a book twice?
