    Happy new year, Randy! :) Great contend as ever. please be carefull with glas thumpers. A Vacuum is the worst you can do to a container. with Thumpers you turn an open system into a closed system. The Vacuum wich apperas when the boiler cools down, can let the thumper implode. A Vacuum release valve, or a simple Valve you can open at the inlet tube of the thumper would help a lot. Water increases it's volume 1700 times when it turns into steam. The same happens reverse, when steam turns back into liquid. be safe and take care.

    @bennoyce3700 Год назад +4

    Randy, if you want the intense peach flavor that is also lower ABV, filter what’s left in your thumpers, and then bring up your ABV with what you ended with.
    Gotta be careful at what point you stopped the run as if you went too low you’ll get the bad flavors left in the thumps.
    If you stop around 48-45 you shouldn’t be in the tails too much and then mix. Really good flavors.
    Try small amounts first before jumping in with everything.
    Cheers.

    Great work Randy I have a single 1/2 gallon thumper jar, and like watching it work! I want to infuse some kind of flavor into it, but the jar accumulates so much liquid during the run I’m afraid it would fill up before it was finished. Is there anything I can do to stop collecting so much liquid in the thumper?

    This may be a silly qubut instead of running your distant through the peaches. Is there a way just to inflavor the water at the end that you're going to cut your ABV down with? Like I said i'm kind of new and maybe it's a dumb question

    Real home processed fully ripened summer peaches from my freezer make the canned peaches I have in my pantry taste almost tasteless in comparison.

    Great work and nice to see your thumpers in action. Did the peach flavour develop over time or did it stay just very subtle? I tried whacking a can of peaches directly into some spirit and even then, is was just ok. Trouble with most fruit like that is that they’re full of water and not have a particularly intense flavour. I’m sure you’ll develop this set-up even more, so keep Shining Randy 😎

    Maybe I'm missing something, but it looks like if you somehow got a blockage in the condenser, in a worst case scenario, the vapor could back-feed into thumper #2 when in bypass mode. Am I correct?

    • @stillworksandbrewing
      @stillworksandbrewing  Год назад

      the idea of the bypass is to bypass foreshots and heads around thumper the cork in the top of column is safety blow off

      i did use some tails i think fresh peaches or some peach frozen concentrate?

    • @rogerwilco59
      @rogerwilco59 Год назад

      I have no experience, but is the thumper for extra ABV, and to give aroma? If so then is more of a Rich mash with peaches needed for flavor? Interesting testing ahead for you, I'm sure you'll find the right mix!

  • @bruceking8291

      Hi Tim, I have a mile high 8 gallon with a 2 inch and i love it i have not had any problems at all i think you would be happy with 2 or 3 column but if i had to choose i would go with 3 inch because it would run faster cheers

  • @kirkstinson7316
    @kirkstinson7316 Год назад +1

    You'll find you'll run at a higher head temp because the thumpers eat a lot of heat. Peach is always hard to get good flavor. Did run of peach with fresh peach in thumpers. Ran slow (pot still) and barely had any peach flavor

  • @boostbeast8731
    @boostbeast8731 Год назад +1

    I highly recommend half gal jars. Qrt jars will fill up pretty quick during a run. Never use canned peaches. Canned taste nothing like fresh and impart lil to no flavor.
