I heard that Pat and Vanna weren't in this because there was a strike that was going on when this game was released which prevented Ubisoft from being able to use their likenesses. Same scenario I believe with Alex Trebek for the Jeopardy! game. Naturally, the strike ended the day after both this and the Jeopardy! game came out.
On the logo of the game, the mystery wedges are in the wrong spots. The one by the lose a turn is on the red $800, instead of the blue $700 The other one by the million dollar wedge is on the purple $500, instead of the blue $600.
You know, I like to imagine that you have a wall with the names of hundreds of random games on it, and you toss a dart over your shoulder to pick which game to play through next.
I've got the Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy games for the Wii U. Wheel has the real Pat & Vanna, and Jeopardy has the real Alex Trebek reading the clues, as well as the real Jimmy, Kelly, and Sarah doing visual clues as the Clue Crew.
The gameplay is the same as Season 34 with a few differences. There are no Crossword-themed puzzles. The Gift Tags have the names of fictional companies rather than real ones, to avoid Ubisoft paying royalties. The Prize wedges and Prize Puzzles are all worth $7,320. The player can choose which Prize wedges and Gift Tags (which are for fictional companies rather than real ones, possibly to avoid Ubisoft paying residual fees) s/he wants on the Wheel. The car, offered through both the 1/2 Car Tags and the Bonus Round, is valued at $46,840, making it extremely difficult for an opponent to win the main game if a player wins the car via the 1/2 Car Tags. If a player picks up the Mystery Wedge containing the $10,000 prize, s/he does not give back the $1,000 per consonant that s/he earned. The Prize Puzzles are not always related to the Prize. The then-current music package is used, but the previous solve cue is used when a contestant gets at least $5,000 from calling a correct consonant or picking up the Prize wedge or Gift Tag. A different piece of music is still used whenever the contestant scores less than $5,000 for a correct letter. Casino-style music is played throughout the game. The Bankrupt slide whistle is used when someone lands on Bankrupt and Lose A Turn, just like the games for the PlayStation 1. The buzzer used on the show is not used. Instead, a different buzzer is used when a player takes too long to make a decision (although it was also used for an incorrect attempt at solving before an update patch was released). No sound effects are used when a player calls an incorrect letter. As with the Nintendo DS version, Round 4 always starts as a Speed-Up. The Million Dollar wedge is not surrendered if the player in possession of it does not solve the puzzle the round it is picked up, but it can still be lost to a Bankrupt. The music used when a player tries to solve the Bonus Round puzzle is the same one used in the Speed-Up. The Final Spin is not redone if it lands on Bankrupt or Lose A Turn; rather, the game defaults to the minimum value of $1,500.

I have both the Wii & the Wii U games & it's a bummer that there is no Pat & Vanna in this version. Great looking game besides that. I just bought a Nintendo Switch recently & I really want another Wheel of Fortune game on that console with Pat & Vanna!
I really love this game alot, despite the minor issue(s) it has. The main shortcoming this game has is that they replaced Pat and Vanna with a generic host and hostess. I also feel the customization menus could've been a little more broad in their offering, aside from more clothing and accessories, it would've been nice to be able to change your avatar's eye color, since you can only change the hair color and skin tone. Being able to change the color of the eyes would've helped make the avatar even more personal to the player, but what's offered in the game is quite good regardless. One really cool thing that Ubisoft missed the opportunity to add to the "Set Theme Pack" customization menu for unlocking, is they could've added a "Retro" set theme. When activated, it'd transform the set/studio decor into what Wheel of Fortune looked like back in it's heyday, back the 1990s, the true classic look, complete with the iconic golden puzzle board that looked like angel wings. I think that's the look most people remember when they think about the actual game show. But I digress. Aside from the minor things I mentioned, this game is awesome, and my favorite adaption. The graphics are beautiful, the music is catchy and the sound effects from the actual game show is the icing on the cake. I feel if the developers had been able to have Pat and Vanna in this since they're the face of the show, then this would've been absolutely perfect, the definitive edition of the game, being able to get as close as you can to the real thing without actually being on the game show itself.
While the game looks like a good home video version of Wheel, when the hosts are anyone but Pat and Vanna, it's VERY off putting. I wonder why they couldn't voice in this. Time or budget reasons? I dunno and I don't know if I want to say they would be unwilling after voicing in these games so much after all these years.

On the Playstation 4 version the computer players are dumb as a doorknob. Why on earth would your first letter you choose is a J, Z or X? It's still a great version of the TV show.
