Hi Jessika! Dave's garden...yes, one of these days. I think he has over a thousand different varieties of Iris alone. Rating system...thank you. Thanks for watching and of course, commenting too! Jessika, you have a great weekend. Best, -Mark
Hello from SOUTH Jersey Mark! So happy that Dave joined you! Loving these tomato videos! They are definitely helping me chose which tomato varieties to try for next year’s garden!!!! Keep these Videos coming! LOVE IT!

Mark...you're the best. I cried when you introduced Dave, because of your caring and thoughtfulness. You are definitely 👍❤ at the top of my youtube family. Thank you

These are the best taste test video's I have ever seen and I have watched a ton.. Love the detail and bringing your friend on. I am going to try some new varieties. Thank you for the details of the cards and rating systems and showing the fruit and plants. I've watched more than once. I hope you do it every year!
Hey David! Wow! That's really nice of you to say and I'm glad you've found the videos helpful. I thought it was a good idea to get more than just my opinion on the various varieties and Dave is a true tomato connoisseur. Glad you found the cards and rating system helpful too. Since the taste test seem to be popular, I'm going to go ahead and do them again in 2022. Thanks for watching/ commenting! All my best, -Mark
I loved that you had the taste test with Dave. You guys rock! I grew the sun gold and sun sugar side by side and for me the sun gold is sweet with acid and the sun sugar is twice as sweet with no acid. I found the sun sugar a bit too sweet for my taste. This year I'm trialing 5 varieties of sauce tomatoes. 6 plants each in a small garden. The first one was a dud and I pulled the plants and filled 2 wheel borrows up. The second variety "Piennolo Del Vesuvio Tomato" put on the crop rapidly and I made tomato sauce and spaghetti sauce this morning . It was all you could dream of for a sauce tomato. I still have 3 others including the Jersey Devil to test out and compare but they are all slower in production so I'm having to freeze the ripe tomatoes waiting for enough to cook up. 2 thumbs up on this video. Very enjoyable. Dogs are such opportunists. Holly knew when your attentions were occupied and went about being a notty dog with joy in her heart. lol Even though my garden space is confined to a small lot that the house is on I grew quite a few varieties of tomatoes and had 74 tomato plants. I’ve had a wild crossing from a wild Galapagos cherry tomato with what I believe was brandywine some years ago from seed I saved of plants grown together. Since then all the subsequent generations have been quite variable, so it’s a true surprise . They tend to be bigger than the Galapagos, having it’s intense acidity, but some times they have the complex sweet flavor of brandywine. Color also has also wavered from pinkish to red. They do however tend to crack a lot, a Galapagos characteristic. Of course since I don’t have a large enough garden to plant several plants and stabilize the hybrid into a new variety, I’ve just considered it a fun game. Each year also plant other varieties, so who knows what it hasn’t picked up by now.
Hi SH! Very interesting! Yes, I always like keeping an eye on the compost pile for volunteer tomatoes... This year I have hundreds... Cherry tomatoes in particular are showing up on every corner of the farm. I guess it's the birds... Always fun to see what kind of surprises there are. Thanks for watching and of course, commenting too! Spread the word of the channel if you would. Have a great evening! Best, -Mark
thank you for the comparison. i have grown many of these and i agree. i have not grown the top 2. really appreciate this. it does take some time to grow these and figure out what is good.
You are very welcome! I am always trying new varieties looking for something new and interesting, so it is a continual process it seems. You'll have to give the top ones a try this year. I think you may be very happy. Thanks for watching and I really do appreciate your comments. All my very best, -Mark

I've never seen most of these tomatoes before. I know I've said it already, it's a blessing to you be able to see the different varieties and just hear the description makes me want to try them. Omg, finally Dave. It's great that Dave was able to come do some taste test as well. Good to put a face to a name, so the next time you talk about Dave I'll know who you are referring to. When you have all that experience it's just the right thing to share it with others. That's what Dave has done. Thanks much for both your honest opinions about these tomatoes. Lol I try to eat a popsicle everytime you are tasting something so I don't feel hungry 😅 . That Maryland humidity is showing in your face Mark...... I'm happy we are getting this rain right now, too humid for me.
Hi Jody! RAAAAAIIIIIINNNN!!!!!! I am so happy, The puddles are all nice and full... I can't wait to see the garden green up tomorrow... Knowing this whole week tops out in the low 80's makes me smile big time. Thanks as always for watching and commenting! Best, -Mark
@@marksgardenlife5971 🙂 the feeling is mutual over here as well. The forecast has show more rain. It's just a blessing, the thought of the earth getting a good soak made me smile. Hahaha, I really just go crazy when I go to the garden and the earth is just thirsty and dry..... I'm not able to soak it as much as I would like..... I'm anticipating these few days ahead. God bless Mark. Thanks for your comment
Thank you guys for these tasting videos!! It really does make it so much nicer/better/easier to make a seed list for next year. Thank you for all your hard work and the willingness to share it.
Hi David! Thank you! I'm so glad you are enjoying! Next year, the variety I'm growing is increasing dramatically. If you would, email me your favorites you grow to Marksgardenlife.com. Thank you! I appreciate you watching and of course, thank you for your comments as well. Spread the word of my channel if you would. Word of mouth works so well. I would appreciate that so much! David, you have a incredible day/evening! Best, -Mark
Big fan of your tasting vids. I watched this last year and wanted to let you know that based on your recc, I will be growing Sunpeach. Can't wait to try it! I tried Isis Candy and yuck, sorry lol. Maybe it's not best suited for clayish prairie. Glad to see Blush on the table, Artisan Seeds are amazing. Anything Agi, Tiger or Lucky is gonna be delicious! Rosella is my favorite cherry tomato and all the Fred Hempel's fall in line for the rest of the top five. Happy Gardening Mark!
Fred Hempel tomatoes are always a winner. Blush is his creation. I also recommend try his Agi Red as well both Lucky and Pink Tiger. Not affiliated with him, I am just a huge fan of his mater work. Was looking forward to this video, did not disappoint! Oh yeah, I found some Buttergold corn seeds on sale so planted that. I eat it straight from picking too. SO SWEET and crunchy!
Hi Cexe! Very nice... I'll definitely need to check him out... Pink Tiger looks just like Blush but more red... I am so excited for next season... I've set my sights on new tomato territory on the farm lol. This is all going on "the list" Thanks for watching and of course, commenting too! Best, -Mark
Ding Dong .... What a great video.Good afternoon Mark, well Holly dose it again lol little tinker 😒 your in trouble Holly. But seriously top notch video, well deserved 👏👏👏👏All the very best 🌱🌱🌱💕🇬🇧
Hey Joyce! I just jumped on the computer to let comments sitting in the holding file through. Saw your's. Yeah, Holly did it again! I was eating that ear of corn towards the end of the video and I saw a tomato plant waving back and forth out of the corner of my eye and I knew it had to involve Holly. It did! She was trying to pull a soaker hose from under the tomato cage and was pulling as hard as she cold and it went under the cage. She almost pulled the tomato plant out of the ground! Glad you liked the video. Thank you! Have a great weekend! Best, -Mark
Hi ! They probably were Yellow Pear. There still around too. Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks so much for watching and of course, commenting too! Spread the word of the channel if you would. You have a great day/evening! Best, -Mark

Down here in Texas, we have the Texas Wild or Matt's Wild tomato. I believe it was originally found in Mexico growing wild. Very small, the size of a penny, but sweet as candy when ripe. Great flavor. Produces clusters of fruit, similar to grapes, and lots of them. One plant can produce hundreds. One aspect I love is that it continues to produce all summer here, even when temps hit in the 90's. It can get massive.
Blush and sun gold are also my favorites, last year I tried tomato berry and really liked that one in the reds but this year my reds are Juliet and Rapunzel, both are awesome for different reasons and Juliet was hard to find seeds
Wow that was worth watching! I couldn't figure out really what was the x factor that made you guys like sunpeach better than sungold or sun sugar. This is my first year with sungold and I am addicted. My five star grape is tasty but splits like crazy. I end up harvesting at blush to avoid it. Holly, that little stinker. 😍 adorbs with the corn! I'm going to have to try your top two next year! Can't wait to see Dave's garden! Nobody is going to judge him on a few weeds:)
I have to say that I tried sungold for first time and the sunpeach blows it out of the water for me. Now I have to finish watching and so happy to see Dave make appearance!
Glad Dave could make it! I agree with Dave - you're making us all hungry watching all of this tomato testing. Thanks for another fantastic video, Mark, they just get better and better. And I always find myself smiling by the end! And I'm with Dave on the sea salt and butter on the corn! LOL.
Hey Scott! Or sick! lol Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. I am hoping everyone has a smile after watching me. Thanks for watching! Scott, have a great afternoon, evening! Best, -Mark
Taking a break from the heat and backyard construction! 🥵 Perfect timing to watch the taste test! YOU GOT DAVE!! 🥳. A huge thank you to Dave for sharing his time and opinions with us! Yes, Dave, absolutely making us hungry 😋 Love the ranking system. Super helpful. Tomato olympics here lol. I’ve added Blush, Green Grape, Isis Candy, and SunPeach and Sun Sugar to my list of potentials for next year. 🤓 📝 Is corn the next up for the taste test?? The munching and crunching lol. Reminds me of the cartoon crows eating it typewriter style. Holly shenanigans again! 😂 What a silly girl knowing how to get all eyes on her. No matter what, she brings such a joy to my heart. The cuke pick is priceless!! 🥰 Beautiful outtro! Just lovely with the music and the scenes. Thank you, Mark for another fabulous video!
Finally getting to this video. Thought your Sungolds weren't ripe enough. At least compared to what I've grown. Good stuff though, so much I've never seen! Thank you!
The infamous Dave. 😍 Great video guys SunPeach, ISIS Candy added to my list. Dying laughing while Mark is tracking down Holly, Dave continues on - Well, in the meantime. 😍 Loving this series Thank you guys
Hey NH! Dave.....yep, the infamous. I'm glad you liked the video. Thank you! Great tomato choices! You will love them. When I was eating the corn, out of the corner of my eye I saw a tomato plant shaking wildly back and forth and I just knew it had something to do with Holly! I mean, what else! lol I knew I better get over there and see what she was up to before she ruined something and forgot poor Dave standing by himself in front of a camera for the first time! I'm sure he was thinking wtf! lol Holly and the chaos she can create! lol As always, thanks for watching! Have a great weekend! Best, -Mark
Oh I wish that it got hot enough here in northern Vermont to get summer tomatoes. any summer visitors fro points south I always ask to bring peaches and tomatoes.
I was pleasantly surprised by sunpeach, citrine, and cherry bomb this year from Johnny's after growing some disappointing hybrid cherries in the past. Some heavy hitters there in your taste trial. Keep up the good work.
Hi Amin! I'm glad you liked it! Thank you! Maybe I can get Dave to do a few more with me. Thanks for watching and of course, commenting too! Amin, you have a great weekend! Best, -Mark
I am looking forward to next year so I can grow some of your recommendations. Where do you buy your tomato cages? They look very sturdy. Great videos. Thanks.
Hi! Tomatoes.....I'm glad the videos are giving you some ideas. The cages I make myself. Watch my video "How To Make Tomato Cages That Last" if you get a chance. The best part is they will last for years and break down to stack and store every year. Thank you so much for watching and of course commenting too! Spread the word of my channel if you like it. You have a wonderful day/evening! Best, -Mark
Love your videos! I found your channel this year. Sugar Rush is also a great snacking tomato, sweet and a big producer. A bigger unique tomato is Grandmas Best. Not a lot of juice, and almost softer, but a really good flavor.
Hi Laura! I'm glad you are enjoying the videos! Thank you! I just added both tomatoes to my trial list for next year. Thank you for sharing! Best, -Mark
I first tried the "cherry tomatoes" last year and was under the impression they only produce for but a very limited season but I am now more interesting in a few more.typts. We enjoy a Honey Gold Hybrid and Brad's Atomic grape tomatoe Wishing you posted where I can buy seeds for my garden
Hi Mark! Well what a video i really love and enjoyed looking at all those cherry tomatoes, i grew a couple myself last summer and tehey where very juicy and sweet, i can't remember the type they where but i'm looking forward to growing them this year. Good idea for the rating system and since you love the Isis candy and the Sun peach i would love to try them out if i can get my hands on them. It was great that you had someone with you that way you can compare. The corn you had looks so delicious and so beautiful, it is the best thing ever to eat what you grow, so fresh and more tasty. And OH BOY 😳 Holly what did she do, i hope the damage wasn't too bad, maybe you should put some gates up so she doesn't get in and rip you're crops up, lol Holly. Mark i wish i could visit you're farm i would just lay on the grass and enjoy everything you got in there 😌 Thank you i really love and enjoyed this video and Congratulation again you've hit 7k subscribers that's awesome, i'm very happy for you 😃🥳
Good morning! It's just after 6am here on East Coast of US. I got up at 4am to work on answering some of the 500 comments in the last 5 days! lol I'm going to film a few videos today. One this morning and another this afternoon for Sunday morning and Monday morning post. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. The corn...it is. As you can see Holly gives it a thumbs up! I'm doing a video today on freezing corn. Holly...... One of the maintenance men on the farm had laid drip hose tubing in the tomato beds and Holly I guess got bored while we were filming the tomato video and decided to pull them out of two of the beds and chew them up! That's what happened while I was eating corn. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a tomato plant shaking back and forth and I knew it had to do something with Holly, so that's when I took off to see what was up. She was yanking the drip hose from the bed to chew up and it was stuck under the tomato cage and it was shaking back and forth as she was trying to get the hose out to chew up. She had already shredded one from the adjoining bed! Lay in the grass! lol I'd put a lawn mower in your hands! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and do you believe that! 7k subscribers! Thank you! Isn't that something! I'm averaging 26,000 views every few days now. I never expected that! I am being watched in 50 countries in the last 7 days! Hard to believe! I did a lot of gardening today pruning cleaning up and setting up another little greenhouse as my other greenhouse is full lol. Lawn mower! yes please i would love to work in you're farm any day and i know i would really enjoy it :) Wow Holly can be destructive can she! Thank you :) Gabriel
Wow! I love cherry tomatoes. Ive grown several in the Philippines and UAE. I have not tried these. I only tried micro dwarves which can fit in my very small spaces. I hope to to grown these here someday.

Any suggestions where to buy the seeds for these that stay true to consistency.. Never started garden tomatoes from seed before but want to try next season.. Thanks from Long Island..
Think you could do a vid on watermelons? Very nice work. Found your channel and subscribed. Always looking for great info on how to be even a better gardener. Rock on!

@@marksgardenlife5971 thanks. Love your channel. My watermelon grow was a complete fail. I just can’t get them or cantaloupes to do well and I baby them! If not avid on them I’d love to see something on asparagus!

Last week we made an incredible roasted tomato sauce from a mix of small Green Zebra and Early Girls from the local farmer’s market here in the SF Bay Area. It turned out incredible…slightly tangy compared with the standard San Marzano’s which is our standard annual sauce. Definitely worth trying different varieties occasionally. Thanks Mark for pointing out so many varieties to try.
As far as snacking types go, midnight snack is rather sour, as are many of the anthocyanin type cherries like blueberries, etc. I tend to neglect sour varieties personally. Perhaps you should try pickling green tomatoes? That's a fun way to get your tart fix. Thanks Vutomi! Best, -Mark
Oh my gosh, I feel so spoiled with all these tasting videos in one week! Can't finish this video right now, but wanted to make sure to comment to help you ratings and also to let you guys know you are such hoot together!!!! I'll post more later when I am able to finish it.
Hey Mark! Thanks for this series of tomato videos! I've been experimenting with different kinds each year (this year I have Brandywines, Yellow, Mountain Prides, Early Girls, and Sweet 100s). Do you use hay for mulch? I've been trying to get a good bedding for the plants.
I got Five Star (from GRIERS!!!) and Sun Sugar per your rec. I love how the Give Star grows. It's got these little strong little vines that grow out. I'm trying to grow it as a single vine up a 8 ft rebar and it got to the top 2-3 weeks ago. Now I'm just letting it wild out....mostly. Love Sun Sugar too! Everyone likes that one. If you let them sit on the vine for awhile they get super deep orange. EDIT: I got super sweet million or whatever too! That one makes a ton of tomatoes! I didn't do it single vine tho..Just let it go in a cage.
Hi there! I didn't realize you were a customer! Yes, great varieties... I have yet to meet a person that hasn't loved sunsugar. As always, Thanks for watching and of course, commenting too! -Mark

After watching several videos with dogs in your garden area, I was thinking don't those dogs ever bother with the plants/produce? Because, mine sure have! I have 2 fences around my little space, and they are still determined to get in there. I think they associate me harvesting/eating, and think they can do it too. Anyhow, nice video.

Hi Joshua! I've thought about that for the future, but because of time limitation, I'd have to just list it. When a video gets over 10 minutes long, you loose a lot of viewers. Thanks so much for the excellent idea. I appreciate the suggestion very much and next year I am going to have to come up with some type of rating system such as you suggest. Hope you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and of course commenting too!
Brittany, you have a great day/evening!

@@marksgardenlife5971 Yep, volunteer tomates can sure take over if we don’t intervene. Take care, brother!
thank you for the comparison. i have grown many of these and i agree. i have not grown the top 2. really appreciate this. it does take some time to grow these and figure out what is good.
You are very welcome! I am always trying new varieties looking for something new and interesting, so it is a continual process it seems. You'll have to give the top ones a try this year. I think you may be very happy. Thanks for watching and I really do appreciate your comments.

I have the sweet million seeds to try next year God's willing....
Watching and eating boil corn. Yellow sweet corn and a white one, this is my first time eating a white corn smh lol varieties
Oh oh Holly is in trouble again 😗 I love her

God bless Mark. Thanks for your comment
Thank you guys for these tasting videos!! It really does make it so much nicer/better/easier to make a seed list for next year. Thank you for all your hard work and the willingness to share it.
It's just a crime that this channel doesn't have 250k+ subscribers. Keep plugging Mark. Your fan base is small but rabid.

I enjoyed having your friend there. Nice for a second opinion.

Thank you!

LOL.

Isis Candy cracked for me, too, but man are they good! I agree with Dave that they're worth growing even with the cracking.
Great video! Would love to see Dave's garden too
Taking a break from the heat and backyard construction!
Is corn the next up for the taste test?? The munching and crunching lol. Reminds me of the cartoon crows eating it typewriter style.
Holly shenanigans again! 😂 What a silly girl knowing how to get all eyes on her. No matter what, she brings such a joy to my heart. The cuke pick is priceless!! 🥰
Beautiful outtro! Just lovely with the music and the scenes. Thank you, Mark for another fabulous video!
Another good video Mark, thanks. I'm surprised to not see any midnight snackers or Berry's crazy cherry.

My pesky 100 lb. garden rat destroys my propagation/cutting trays in my nursery too. But, she's still lovable.
I don’t like sweet tomatoes, I like them to be sour. Which tomatoes are sour to grow?
As far as snacking types go, midnight snack is rather sour, as are many of the anthocyanin type cherries like blueberries, etc. I tend to neglect sour varieties personally. Perhaps you should try pickling green tomatoes? That's a fun way to get your tart fix.
Thanks Vutomi!
