Peshawar was Purushapur. It means city of gallant men. Purush means man.
Purusha refers to that absolute... nothing to do with man women
Peshawar means pesha(trade). Peshawar is the city of Pathans but here live hindki peoples also.

If you time travel to 400 CE (AD) then majority of the names would be in Sanskrit / Prakrit.
The old name of the city of Peshawar was "Purushapur".
And if you travel another 5000 years back it will be in old harrappan and another 5000 years and you wouldn’t know what ... point is names should never be changed ... someone needs to remind that to politicians

I am not sure about mahmood pur was old name of lahore...bcoz lahore had many names in the history..... no one sure about name of lahore .... changes after changes mostly generations even we heard name lahore from childhood....
Ram had 2 sons.Lav was prince of that area and named Lahore.Kush was prince of Kasur area so Kasur named after him.Sir Gangaram modernized Lahore greatly

Main village was and still is Golra which is more than 900 years old and our ancestors settled their it was established by Khans of Golra the name was given from our ancestor Dada Golra the village was named after him. Their are more beautiful villages which CDA is getting rid of and erasing the history of our ancestors by developing more and more sectors

Much of incorrect info. Sahiwal’s original name was Sahiwal. In 1866 it was changed to Montgomery by the British and in 1966, the government of Pakistan reverted back to the original name Sahiwal.

Only some people simplify it as Luv as they simplify Sarayu river to Sarju. Laonagar and Lahore are the same just like Purushapur to Peshawar, Mauryapur to Masroor, Aryanam or Iran, Pilistine to Palestine or Gurugram to Gurgaon (thankfully fixed).
